Before I went here I was convinced there was no good, authentic mexican food near my home. I was having to drive to Denver or Commerce City to find what I had craved for. We always go there and order the steak burrito with no chorizo. We got home and realized the burrito had chorizo. Which is still okay, things happen. We called and let them know what happened and that we were going to come back and get the right burrito. She was so rude about it over the phone. As if we ordered it wrong. Even if we did. It shouldn't be this big of a deal. They asked us to bring the wrong burrito back!? For what? And why would you ask for it back? Lol We gave the burrito back. And they made the right one. This place is pretty good and not over budget. It has a few tables to eat in or order takeout. They are not chinsey on the portion. Get any burrito deluxe with lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream for a small fee extra. Definitely going to come here more often. read more

My family frequents this location. The food is always good and consistent. You really get a lot of bang for your buck here. Asada fries are delicious. Fries are actually crispy so they hold up even if you get your order smothered. The gals taking the orders are so sweet. Definitely reminds me of California style Mexican food. read more

I got a basic torta and tasted as basic. Meat had no flavor and only comes with lettuce and guacamole. A good torta has tomate, beans, some cotija cheese, and fresh avocado or guacamole with salsa on the side. First and last time as quality is for business and not for customer. This is your typical 120th Mexican food fare. Mostly catered to the taste buds of gabachos but with a little more authentic twist. However this being said they do have the best tortillas and beans in the Northglenn/Thornton area. My standard order is just raw tortillas to be prepped on a comal at home, a quart of refried beans and 12 roasted jalapenos. You cant lose if you stick with that order. I dont need all that yellow cheese and and New Mexico style chile. read more

I'm giving the five stars for their breakfast burritos. In particular their #2 bacon burrito that my wife loves, which I have had a few bites of and is very good. Also the #7 Machaca burrito. I always get a Machaca breakfast at another of my fav morning Mexican spots. Then I found this burrito and am hooked. We stop buy a few times a month. They take call in orders and seems like they are never busy in the morning so they get me in and out in minutes. Highly recommended! Let me know if you agree after you try it! read more

This is a nice little place to go get some delish Mexican food when you need a fix! I ordered the smothered burrito with a chile relleno and it was BOOOOOMMMBBB. They have a green and red salsa to choose from throughout your meal. Both are equally amazing, however, the red is more spicy than the green. My husband, sister, and I come here a few times a month for their breakfast burritos. We have gone to a few different Mexican Food places nearby and El Azteca is the most reasonably priced and consistent with taste. We order the burritos "delux", which is smothered in green chili with lettuce, tomato & sour cream. The tortillas taste fresh and it's enough food to keep you full for half the day. Sundays are busiest, so it's good to call in or be ready to wait 15-20 minutes. read more

Nothin spectacular here. Menu items listed sound great but when they arrive to the table it's a big disappointment. Been here before but decided to try it again and it only confirmed what I've known. Bland food that any respectable abuelita would just throw to the dogs. The young lady at the counter on this particular day needs a personality too. She didn't say thank you, greet you, nothin. This place has great food the green chili is really good but it's more like a soup they don't put much pork in it little chunks of pork. It's too pricey for soup but has great flavor. They're Mexican hamburgers really good the other foods are okay too. My biggest complaint would be the service. Several times we have either got the wrong order or food was missing when we did take out and we had to keep going back to their restaurant. Other than that it's great place to eat. read more

I like this place. Hidden Gem. My old go to Authentic Mex food closed down (Jalisco on 104th near red lobster) and i've been searching for a replacement for a long time. I've found two places that have the caliber of food I like in the local area. El Azteca and El Mirador on Huron. Both are excellent. Azteca is more for your drop in or take-out non-table service experience whereas Mirador is a full service sit-down restaurant. Don't go here for atmosphere, wine/beer, or table service. Just good authentic Mexican food. They just started delivering! All the more reason to like this place. *EDIT* just got delivery, not very good. Chicken and beef doesn't taste very good. The food here is AMAZING! However, my last experience was less than satisfactory. I used to work right across the street and come to Azteca EVERY DAY, sometimes even twice in one day to get the same thing. A burrito with beef and cheese in it. I understand this is not your typical burrito and I try to specify that I just want beef and cheese in it. After a while I became a regular and people there knew it was me. The tortilla they use there seems to be home made because it so fresh tasting. I've never had a tortilla that was so good. Also the beef itself is good, like they must have slow cooked it the night before. This place is delicious. I was so sad today. I went back to Azteca for the first time in a while and I wanted to get my burrito. I went up to the front counter and the person was busy. She had almost a full lobby and I'm also a server so I know the look of someone in a rush. She had me wait a bit, which is fine I get it. The part that ensures I will never return to my fav burrito place was her attitude. I asked for a burrito with just beef and cheese and she cocked her head back and looked at me like I was stupid. I kind of laughed because I know it's an odd request . She then said with heavy attitude" do you just want the Colorado burrito then?" . I said " no I just wan t a burrito with beef and cheese in it. And some rice, beans, and sour cream on the side." She said" the burrito doesn't come with beans or sour cream." At this point I know she's trying to give me a hard time. She won't give me what I want and she is throwing a bunch of attitude at me. I said" listen, I don't know what's in the Colorado burrito. All I want is a beef burrito with cheese in it." She says with attitude" it's right there!" As she looks at their enormous menu boards, trying to get me to look at the menu for a burrito I don't want... I then say" look , all I wanted was a burrito with beef and cheese..." She cuts me off and says OK, then I say " I honestly don't want it anymore if your going to treat me like this. " I ask for her manager. She rolls her eyes as 16 year old children do as she gets her boss. I tell him " hey man, I literally used to come here all the time and get the same thing. " The manager understands and tries to get my order but I told him I can't order from there if the staff is going to treat people like that. I gave them my number to have the owner call me. I can't believe it. I'm pretty bummed cause the food here is sooooooo good , but I'll never go back to a place that treats people like that. No way. read more

Local breakfast burritos we like to pick up 1-2 a month. Picked up 2 sausage burritos with green chili, no green chili and very little sausage, BLAND. Husband went with Carne Asada burrito, excessive cilantro and meat had odd taste. He ate half the burrito and immediately threw up all he had eaten. Spoke to Maria who apologized for what happened. Just wanted someone to know. Owner called to apologize and he will be going in to check on kitchen. Very kind and offered free meal, just not interested at returning at this time. read more

I consider myself a Mexican food fan! I have eaten in many of Denver's Mexican restaurants and taco stands. El Azteca's food is always consistently great. I usually just order the Carne Asada tacos with a side of rice and beans. The food is always piping hot. The tacos have the perfect amount of onions and cilantro along with avocado. The dining room is small but cozy with televisions making it enjoyable. The restaurant employees are attentive to the guest needs. Oh yea, the red and green sauces are really good.
