We were very excited to hear that there was a couple new Mexican restaurants opening. We thought we'd give El Arroyo a try, we had already heard pros and cons. But wanted to make our own decision on the restaurant. Well, we never got to try their food, the waitresses never acknowledge us not even once, I'm not even sure how long we stood there all by ourselves. There was no line and there was empty tables. But the waitresses literally just kept walking right past us so close that they could bump us. It went on for way too long, so we left. If they could've just acknowledged us and said and we're sorry we will be with you soon as we can. But they didn't, bummer!!! read more

Food is very good. You pay for chips and salsa so they may be from the Bay Area. I tried to go there today but could not find parking all five spaces were taken. Why would they put a shipping container over the parking spaces? read more

Long-time locals here. Wanted to try this "new" restaurant. Sat at table, then had to ask for Tortilla Chips and Salsa. Server was very nice but said it was an Appetizer and only cost $2.00. Really?!? What Mexican Restaurant charges for chips and salsa. Rice and beans are "extra" too. So much for trying to support this local business. The food wasn't great either. They're better off just adding-in a little more to prices and not "insulting" people. We will not be back. Sad. read more

I've lived in Murphy's for over 20 years when the new L Arroyo restaurant came into town everybody was excited but unfortunately they try to scam you out of your rice and beans they have a a la carte menu which includes enchiladas and if you want rice and beans you're going to have to pay $3.50 on the side what Mexican restaurant doesn't give rice and beans you will not make it here have a good day read more

I get the whole argument over closing time for restaurants, so even though I don't agree with restaurants on actual closing versus last seating, this is not my complaint. We called before heading over to ask what time they stopped seating. The woman on the phone told us they stop seating at 7:40 and they stop serving to go food at 7:45. There were five of us in the car and we all heard the same thing. Arrived at 7:35 and walked in the door. The woman watched us walk in and immediately looked at her coworker and rolled her eyes. I saw her do it and questioned her stating I had just called less than ten minutes prior and hung up with her saying we would be there soon. She insisted they stop seating at 7:30 and not 7:40. If you know the town of Murphys, you know how frustrating it can be to find a restaurant to eat at in the evenings. We passed 5-6 other restaurants to get here that were now also dome seating by the time we went back through town. SO INFURIATING! At least apologize and correct yourself. Don't roll your eyes at a customer and deny you made a mistake. read more

Just had dinner there tonight about 530... the waitress said she was busy and the only one in the dining room, but I feel that she did a great job for being busy. Our 1st time here & hubby ordered carnitas plate (which he loved), I order carnitas crispy tacos (best tacos ever!!!!) & our girls got chicken tenders and the fries were super good we also ordered dessert--- churro donuts (AMAZING!), CHIMICHANGA (daughter said it was just okay), and sweet nachos (delicous). I'd been reading positive reviews so thought we'd give it a try. I was very disappointed. I ordered tacos that were mushy, fried and not particularly tasty. My wife ordered enchiladas and gave me a bite of same and honestly, couldn't tell the difference between the taco and enchilada. There's an extra charge for salsa and chips. The salsa had no heat and was bland. The menu is hard to decipher. Overall, the food wasn't great and the prices high. We won't be back. I was hopeful this would be a success and replace El Jardin, which was excellent. read more

Delicious, authentic, and soooo flavorful! We had the very tender and spiced-just-right chili verde quesadilla with two dipping sauces and the 3 tacos especial with tender and spicy carne asada for lunch. Service was fast, pleasant, and the food came out hot! The quesadilla is plated in six pieces, rolled and fried so the pieces are hot and easy to eat. Tacos are grilled and topped with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese...outrageous! The space is clean and open. The best Mexican food in town. Will be back at least weekly. read more

Great food, been busy since it opened, had to stop in and was not disappointed! Love the little Sopesitas and Tostitas, whether to share as an appetizer or even work for a straight up meal. I would like to start by saying that I was expecting a little more. In quality of food and service. To start right off the bat the prices are high and you cannot order anything all the cart and they will not substitute for anything even though it was for a very small child. You pay full price for one little thing. Issue #1: for a takeout purchase I made. I signed the receipt for my purchase and was handed my copy. When looking at my receipt, it didn't even match the receipt that I had just signed. It was even a completely different order altogether. After realizing that it wasn't even my order and that I had just paid more than I should have for the order that I had just made, which in fact was $20 more than the total of my purchase,I had to go back in and have a this issue fixed. So after purchasing refunding and then re-ringing to get that fixed I waited 20 minutes for my food. The food quality was not anything I expected after all of that issue. I'd say it rated about a two on a scale of one to 10. The food was horrible. The service was OK. The girl was nice. She was helpful and apologetic. The food was nothing that I expected. It tasted nothing like Mexican food if you ask me. The shells on my taco or soggy there was no lettuce on my tacos or cheese. It was some kind of weird almost creamy sauce on a Mexican taco didn't sit right with me for some reason. The chicken enchiladas again not what I expected. I'm very displeased is all I can say. Last, but not least the chile relleno had more of a sweet and sour taste to it, which came off more as a Chinese food or an Asian food. Last time I'm just gonna say that I don't usually leave reviews on Reddit so this is kind of a first for me and that's how displeased I was about my order. Also being somebody that has cooked Mexican food in a very highly rated restaurant which was for takeout mainly rate Mexican food very openly because it is so different in how it could taste on scales and depending on person cooking. But I do have a general knowledge of what it should taste like and what's in it and what I got from this restaurant was nothing of that. Again customer service was decent. The girls were nice, but the food sucked. For the price of the food and what I got I will never be eating there again and I live here in town. I don't believe this restaurant will last long. I would rather go down to Angels Camp and go to La Hacienda or Angels Mexican restaurant. If you really are looking for a review opinion for a restaurant, take the drive to Angels Camp. Your stomach will thank you. read more
