Charming! The food was surprisingly delicious, fresh! and healthy. I am somewhat of a Gordon Ramsey when it comes to eating out, and I was in a bad mood that night, but ended up being really pleased with my Shrimp Mofongo and took sizable bites off of my husband's Dorado. The view is very scenic, with the waves crashing at the rocks just a few feet away from you. Later I noticed that no other nearby restaurant had as intimate ocean-front setting as El Alcazar does. Sitting there made me feel like one of those mustachioed Art Deco writers as they contemplated things in the face of new to them force of nature, over a stiff drink and a half gone cigar. Classy! We thought that the service was outstanding. Our waitress Waleksia was very friendly and made us feel like we were special guests. Later Irma, our chef and the owner of the establishment stopped by for a chat and a hug! We noticed many local people stopping by for cocktails, which is always a sign of a venue's good reputation. Of drinks we only had the energy for Medallia, but then they brought us chichaito shots and we ended up combining like 20 of them in 4 regular drink glasses on the rocks, 2 to enjoy on the deck and 2 to take to the house next door where we were staying. Those were hands down the best coconut cocktails my husband and I ever tried anywhere in the world (so far). The atmosphere and decor is very low key, but don't be fooled by the appearances! Give it a try! read more
