Hit this spot on the way back from Cueva Ventana. Definitely a local spot and there were a few truck drivers looking at us funny when we walked in. There were other cars pulled off the side of the road here and it was the only place that seemed active in the area. There were plenty of seats though, it seemed like some people grab and go rather than dine in. It's all outdoors but there's a roof overhead. Looks like it started out as a food truck but became a permanently fixture. Food was very cheap (I think each plate was $6!) and portions were large. The ladies do speak some English as they probably get some tourists driving by. The meat was tender, rice was just right. They make their own hot sauce which was mostly vinegar with some chilis in it. I dared to try and I really liked it - it was great to spice up the rice. My pork came with a little piece of crackling skin too. Some of the pork was a little on the drier side but the chicken was moist! Had some interesting bottled juices and I tried the acerola cherry.

Oh yeah! The real deal! Part chinchorro, part food truck, part your Tio's House for an impromptu outdoor BBQ. Come with your "antojos" but come prepared to have what they have left. Their BBQ whole chicken is juicy, succulent and full of flavor. Their costillas (pork ribs) are meaty with that extra crispy bark on them. Arroz con gandules rounded out the feast. Great lunch / pick up spot for before or after visiting the Ventana or the adventures in the Rio Tanama. I. Will. Be. Back

Good food option on the road to Cueva Ventana. There's no official parking for any of these roadside stands, so everyone just parks on the shoulder. You can buy any of their meats (chicken, pork, ribs, and turkey) as a plate with rice, beans, and an optional side (plantains) or by the pound for $7-10 per pound. The ribs was definately the better of the 2 options - it was juicy and flavorful. The pork was a mixed bag though - some pieces were reasonably tender and edible while others were dry as rocks, stringy, and overly salty. 4 stars because on a relative basis, this is definately one of the better options available in the area by taste and price.

Be on the lookout for this great location!

This find was AMAZING! Beautiful location with plenty of seating outside. The flavors were rich and the staff so kind and helpful in explaining the dishes and flavors. Could not recommend more!!

I had the bacalao (salted fish) with habichuelas (beans) and arroz (rice) and batatas (caramelized sweet potato) and yuca. I ate a lot of good food while in Puerto Rico but this was definitely the best, and the portion size was huge. I got too full but didn't want the meal to go to waste so I ate a little more than I should have. Worth it!

Not the best seafood place in the area…read more We (a party of four) went there on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We were seated fairly quickly, in the inside part of the business as there were "no seats outside" - that wasn't the case. The server came promptly to take our order: @drinks - mojito, sangria, water and a soda. The sangria tasted like pouch sangria poured into a glass and the mojito had little to no rum. @Starters - marine sampler, which was greasy and overly cooked. @main dishes - paella marinera for 2, lobster tail, and stuffed mashed plantains with ceti (local fish). My overall impression of the main dishes wasn't great for the price we paid for the meal ($$$). The paella for two lacked flavor and the seafood wasn't properly cleaned (the shellfish had the poop vein); the lobster wasn't local and tasted weird; the stuffed plantains with ceti were very salty. For the latter we offered our feedback to the server and she just took the plate away, without offering any substitutions or following up. Enough to say that I'll not be coming here again. The price of the food goes beyond the quality and service. The only nice thing about the place its the view, which we got to see through a window.
