When we sat down for dinner, the waitress put a basket of bread on our table. But don't let that fool you! If you eat it, that means you ordered it, it's not complimentary like the restaurant next door. The bread was dry and may have been old bread they were trying to get rid of. We just wanted to taste Paella in Madrid. We wanted to share a seafood paella order between my mother and I, my husband also ordered and my daughter wanted to split an order of seafood paella with him. My other daughter and niece wanted to share vegetarian soggy dish. Jic the order was too large or if we didn't like the order. So the waiter brings out a large skillet of seafood paella, and a medium skillet of the vegetable paella. Our paella was to be shared by four of us the waitress said. Thinking it was only two orders as it was barely 1/1.5-2 inches deep and only 4 shrimps a few tiny clams. While eating, we weren't impressed and felt it wasn't worth the $13 eur for 1 order they charge. When we got the bill, we were very upset as they charged us double. $13 eur for each person x 4 and the other soggy dish was also charged 2x when we ordered one. They also charged us for 6 pieces of bread at $1.20 x 6!! We asked about the bread and they said we ordered it, we said we never ordered the bread, they just brought us the bread. And we triple checked with the waiter about ordering one seafood paella to be shared by two (pointing to my mom and I) he repeated it. But failed to communicate he was making four orders of seafood paella instead of two orders like we asked for. This was very disappointing, the food was not worth anywhere near the price they charged let alone half the cost. This tab was the worst service, food and lack of communication, no apology for lack of their communication for a crazy cost of over $105eur. This bill was for
-6 breads we never ordered
-1 coke
-2 vegetable soggy rice, when we ordered only 1
-4 seafood paella which 4 shrimps, when we ordered only two
$105 really? Ridiculous!!! Never ever recommending this place to my worst enemy or someone starving.
Go next door to them, Maravillas Malasaña they did give bread but did not charge you. And the food was awesome, and the price was great. We had a two dishes, salmon, tortellini pasta, a dessert or coffee and a drink of wine or soda, all for only $10eur. We were so full, we had to take half our plates home. It brought our expectations high but huge disappointment of Albur! read more
