80 Grados was probably my favorite meal from my time in Madrid -- and considering how much fantastic food I had, that's really saying something. My friend and I tried to go for dinner on a Friday night, but it was completely packed, with a one hour wait time, so we went home and snagged a reservation for 10:30pm the following Monday (goes to show how popular this spot is). The restaurant interior is really stylish, with exposed brick walls and origami birds and glowing orbs suspended from a high ceiling. We each ordered a glass of wine and split five tapas and two desserts. Those tapas: holy smokes. We had jamon croquettes (croquetas de jamon), mushroom croquettes (croquetas de boletus), a whisked egg dish with truffle and potato sticks (huevo trufado con patatas y jamon), calamari sandwiches (bocata crujiente de calamares), and a mushroom gnocchi (noquis cremosos con salsa de setas). Everything was absolutely fantastic. The croquettes were crispy and hot and fell apart at the touch; the truffle lifted the flavor of the egg and potato sticks beautifully; the gnocchi was perfectly chewy and al dente. My friend, who's been living in Madrid for three years, called them the best croquettes he's ever had and some of the best tapas he's ever had. The desserts -- we got the lemon meringue and the cookies + milk -- were also good, though not as impressive as the main course. To top it off, the bill for all of this came out to about 20 euros per person. The service was great, and the food came out immediately. Overall: a must try. And a very good argument for me to just pick up and move to Madrid...

80 degrees, that's the temperature that they cook EVERYTHING at. It was one of our best meals in Madrid. They have a lunchtime formula for less than 15€ it's an amazing price for amazing food. They also have invented a version of the Tinto Verrano (sangria) that is the best ever! It has a sugary, lemon spuma on top. Weekday lunch specials, but I'm sure dinner and weekends are even better if more appropriately priced. You will want a reservation or plan to circle back an hour later

I think this place is just so pretty!! I visited this place for my birthday dinner along with a few friends and of course when in Spain, I'd only have Sangria's! The Sangria here was outstanding, just Soo good! I don't think I've ever been so passionate about Sangria's!!! You have to try them, they're outstanding! This place also serves nice tapas. They don't have a great variety, but whatever they do have is worth trying. They make their dishes look very pretty ! I think I had the pulled pork burger, just so full of flavors! I highly recommend this cozy place for a nice dinner with drinks, just make sure you reserve a table as its usually a long wait to find a table here specially during weekends. I visited this place twice in a week so that should tell you a lot about my liking for this restaurant!

I can here with a group of friends for dinner. It is a cute place that respects "social distancing " dinning. The staff was friendly. I was recommended to try the tinto de verano because it had special lemon foam into, I'm so glad I tried it! It was delicious and refreshing, not too sweet either. My favorite dishes we ordered were the champiñones croquetas, the fake risotto and the thinnest pizza! I would definitely recommend checking this place out for dinner. It's a nice surprise of Spanish/fusion cuisine.

80 Grados is an amazing lunch spot in Madrid. You can choose from two different menus, one for 12.50 euro and the other for 13.80 euro (different selection). With both you get a drink, three different small plates, and dessert or coffee. Each time we have gone, all of the choices have been wonderful, but the mushroom gnocchi and salmorejo were by far our favorites. Their house drink, DisTinto de verano is also very refreshing on a sunny day. 80 Grados is a great place to try classic Spanish tapas with a twist for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

This place is great, a must-go in Madrid. If you go during the week for lunch, they have a lunch menu for 15 euros that includes 3 plates and desert. Plates are small, but with the lunch menu you end up full. I love the salmorejo, huevo trufado, ñoquis, salmon tartar and croquetas. Their house drink is call Distinto de verano, and it's refreshing and amazing. And all the deserts are good but I love the leche con galletas one.

What a great experience! Plates are slightly bigger than tapas and 3 plates would satisfy your appetite. Each plate costs 4-6€s. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the items listed on the menu. Choose anything and enjoy the journey. Service was also good and fast. My personal favorites were: Ñoquis cremosos de setas, tartar salmon, fingers pollo, bocadillo de calamares. You have to try the drink "distinto de verano", fenomenal. I will be coming back to explore the menu further. People who can cook make me happy. Left this place really happy! Que aproveche!!!

Trendy place with trendy young people and food were ok. Service was slow so the four of us almost died of thirst and hunger and had to sit there for at least 20 minutes before we were asked for drinks/food. On the other hand, prices were great so you can have enough money left go to a second spot to quench your thirst/ fill up your stomach (and we did)!

I truly have to highlight Pepe, Franco, and Grace for taking the time to speak to us and get to know us. The food was FANTASTIC. We ordered the seafood paella, jamon iberico, garlic shrimp, and sangria. The paella was filled with a ton of flavor which was DELICIOUS. Everything was fantastic, but the Sangria was spectacular, (probably one of the best sangrias I've ever had). At the end of our meal, Pepe brought us two liquor de Limon shots, which made our whole night!! Definitely recommend this place in the La Latina neighborhood. You won't regret it!

The clams were flavorful and fresh, the octopus was cooked beautifully and the paella was delicious. It is a great place to stop in for a drink and a quick bite, especially if you want something authentic and lively. When we visited, it was packed to the point where you were shoulder to shoulder with other guests and close enough to easily hear the party next to you. It adds to the charm if you enjoy that classic crowded European dining atmosphere, but it is something to keep in mind if you prefer more space.

I ordered #20) the meatballs in tomato sauce (albóndigas caseras en salsa de tomate) and was SO disappointed -- they arrived cold and tasted pretty basic. There are definitely stronger contenders on the menu -- I just happened to choose the wrong one... If I could do it over, maybeee the 14) White Prawn Carpaccio or the 3) Smoked Cod on Toast

The restaurant is located in the heart of Madrid on a very cute street, and it is easy to find and walk there if you stay in the city center. The place is not very big - both times I went there for lunch, there were no tables available, so I had to sit at the bar; once I even had to wait about 7 minutes until one bar spot became free. The restaurant's design is simple, but pretty and lovely. Overall, the restaurant is in very good condition and was perfectly clean both times I visited. The only small downside is that the place is quite noisy, but it did not bother me. One of the best things about this place is the people who work there - both a guy and a lady at the bar were extremely nice and friendly to me; plus, both spoke very good English. They gave me recommendations on what to try, and I followed their advice. The restaurant's menu is not big, but it has all the most popular traditional Spanish dishes. Both times I ordered Rabo de Toro (a traditional Spanish stew), Fardos (squid rolls with bacon and squid ink mousse); and once I also tried croquetas de jamón (ham croquettes). The croquettes were tasty - I loved their flavor and soft texture. One portion includes 6 pieces, and they are quite big and filling. It was my first time trying Fardos (I ordered a 1/3 portion), and it was a great experience - the dish turned very delicious after the bartender mixed it for me. The squid was cooked very nicely, and combined with the fresh bacon and ink mousse, it tasted fantastic. Rabo de Toro (I ordered a 1/2 portion) was also my first time trying this dish, and I loved it - the stew was perfectly cooked, very soft and moist, with rich flavors, and it melted in my mouth. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of drinks, especially wines. I do not drink alcohol, so I was recommended to try grape juice - Mosto, which was extremely flavorful and tasted like fresh pressed grape juice, even though it came from a glass bottle. I loved that drink! Price-wise, all items on the menu seemed reasonable. I paid €8 for 6 ham croquettes, €12 for a half portion of Rabo de Toro, €8 for a 1/3 portion of Fardos, and €3 for one glass of grape juice. It is possible to have a nice full lunch here for around €22, which is reasonable for a restaurant in the heart of Madrid. The place accepts all major credit cards and Apple Pay, which is a big plus. If you visit this restaurant, I strongly recommend trying 1/3 or 2/3 portion of Fardos, a half portion of Rabo de Toro, and their grape juice Mosto - it's enough food to feel full and experience traditional Spanish flavors.

I ordered the Oxtail (Rabo de Toro) and wooooow... easily one of the most tender and delicate pieces of meat I've EVER had. They serve it boneless, but I'm pretty sure if they would have provided a bone, it would've fallen right off. The whole place gives cozy tavern vibes with a rustic interior that feels perfectly Madrid. NOTE: the portions are a bit heavier than most spots. I hate to waste food, especially when it's as immaculate as the Oxtail, but if you're a party of one, you got to do what you go to do.

The quality of the food has remained consistent for the 10 years I've been visiting! Tucked away just off Sol, Malaespina is the epitome of a classic Madrid taverna. The inviting, unpretentious atmosphere, the cozy charm, the prices, the energy -- it's hard to capture it all in words. There's a certain magic at Malaespina. The tavern has been around for hundreds of years, and I often wonder what it was like a century ago. I'm always amazed that such a gem exists in the heart of Madrid, a city center filled with tourist traps. Malaespina draws both locals and tourists -- and for good reason. The food quality to price ratio is unbeatable. On our most recent visit, we had huevos estrellados, tortilla tapas, sangria, and espressos, and spent about $20 for the two of us. We thought they were more the size of tapas but each dish was a huge portion itself which definitely isn't a bad thing. The food tasted pretty good but I think it just lacked flavor occasionally. All the meat was cooked well and was very juicy, just could use a little more flavor. Otherwise everything was good. Solid 4 stars
