This is the third time I've ordered multiple jalapeño cheddar bagels (with an extra charge on each) and been given all green chile bagels instead (which taste completely different and not what I paid extra for!). At first I thought it was a fluke, but there's no way the employees repeatedly mix these two bagels up, they look completely different (one has jalapeño slices and yellow cheddar and the other has chopped up green peppers and a white cheese). I'm convinced they do it on purpose when they're running low on jalapeño cheddar. They ALWAYS run out of that flavor so here's some advice: make MORE jalapeño and LESS of the flavors you always end up with at the end of the day. This is infuriating. read more

Okay - I decide to order using the app and there was a *special*, so I went with it. I walked in and mistook the table for pickup, I was early so I returned to my car. It would've been nice had one of the five people working greeted me in some fashion - then I could've told them I was there to pick up an order. They ignored me. So when the time came that my order should be ready, I went to the counter. Again, no one greeted me, I was ignored and had to ask if my order was ready. They pointed me to the correct pickup location. It's to the right of the entrance and easy to overlook. TBC and fair - I went to the registers at the back of the store - when I left I noticed someone ordering at a register at the front of the store. Why are there registers at both ends? Anyway - getting to the real issue I have with my order. Not being greeted in the scheme of things is an annoyance. So, I ordered the *special*. I would have preferred to pay full price than get a baby coffee and a barely there schmear on my bagel for a little bit less $ The cream cheese is spread so thin I could barely taste it. I took a picture. For God's sake if someone painted a wall that way they'd have to go back and go over it again - probably a couple times. If I wore a sweater this thin I'd freeze to death in 50 degree weather. This is the stingiest allocation of schmear I've ever had put on a bagel. That says a lot If you like minimal cream cheese and are really just there for the bagel - this is your spot. how did I arrive to 2 stars? +1 The store was clean. +1 The bagel itself, and only itself was okay. The Monday special is just not the same as it once was. They apparently changed the policy so that you have to buy a dozen bagels and use their app every two weeks in order to get it who on earth is eating that many bagels? Just don't offer the special anymore I don't appreciate all of these hoops. Years back you shrunk the size of the bagels so shrinkflation discontinued the salmon cream cheese and now this? The experience was horrible. We got here 40 minutes before they close at 2 and i understand that they have closing responsibilities before actually closing, but they just seemed annoyed we even came in. The chairs and tables were already put away, they claimed to be out of things. When we were getting ready to sit down, they came up to us and had to remind us they close in 20 minutes (it took us a second to figure out what we wanted). We ate and left. I'm not going to lie, it really is just okay. Personally, I think one might be better off just going to the grocery store and getting a bag of bagels and cream cheese and call it a day, but it is what it is. Before I get all Oscar the Grouch on this review, let's start with the good things! The store is very clean, some of the workers were in masks, and social distancing was enforced (there wasn't much a line but you get the point). The staff was super friendly and helped me with some items. So that's the bonus. They're the reason why this is a four-star review, otherwise it would've been 3-star. I ordered two toasted bagels with cream cheese, with juices. The bagels were eh (hence my first paragraph). Either the bagels were just meh, or the way they were toasted were just meh, but it was very underwhelming. The bagel got soft almost immediately and it was toasted; there were burnt edges. But I just don't know...Now, I didn't get a breakfast sandwich or anything else fancy so I can't speak on that. I was just underwhelmed by the bagel. Would I go back? Probably not, tbh. On a Friday morning in September at 6am, I've found parking in front of the store. It wasn't crowded inside so I was greeted and I briefly looked at the flavors. My favorite is Asiago bagel w/plain schemers instead I've bought 4 bagels w/plain schemer tub. It was so fresh and it taste so good as I took a bite. What a difference a few weeks can make i was here at the hastings ranch location this morning (monday july 15th 945am) trying to claim a "2 free bagels with any purchase" offer that i got in my email through doing your survey online just 5 days ago i lined up, showed the cashier the email and code, she said i can pick the bagels i picked spinach florentine and jalapeno cheddar. she said it will be 90 cents more because they're gourmet also chose a onion and chive spread when i got to the register to pay out, they could not figure out how to put in the gourmet bagels as part of the promotion and said i had to go back and choose 2 regular bagels at this point i was already tired of waiting and my 2 year old and wife were both not happy standing around waiting. i did not want to choose 2 regular bagels and told them the email said "gourmet additional charge" but the 2 staff members kept saying it wouldn't work anymore and did not do anything to rectify the situation I contacted them through the website and no response Prob not going back for awhile read more

For 3rd time in several months on-line order was wrong so when I asked for a Manager the next day the young mans response was "if you didn't correct it same day can't get a refund". I was working the entire day after my pick-up. Then I told him I spoke with a manager a few months earlier about wrong order and the response was "what was her name?" I like Einstein Bros Bagels, while they're not the best bagels ever it's reliable and convenient. During some house reno, we no longer had access to a kitchen and had to purchase a lot of meals. On the weekends, this was our go to breakfast take out place that was easy, quick and pretty good. During COVID their lines were INSANE so I would recommend that you download their app and order ahead. You order ahead, basically walk in and immediately to your right they have all the to go orders ready so you just pick it up and leave. You also have the option to add a free coffee when you do, and it's definitely a nice perk. The food was mostly good albeit sandwiches were sloppily put together sometimes but oh well. My favorite was their everything bagel sandwich with eggs, tomatoes, and avocado. One thing I do not like about their app is you're forced to "load" in certain $ increments then pay out of that bucket, there is no option to pay as you go so I have like $10 sitting in my EBB app because I loaded too much and basically it's just annoying. Looks like they clumped a chunk of avocado on it. Not spread and no seasonings. The price we pay for ordering out, it is definitely NOT worth it. Don't bother with this Einstein bagels, you would think that they would be smarter than that (see what I did there) you'd think they'd want repeat customers. I haven't been to an Einstein's since everything shut down in March, but I made this trip specifically since I knew it was on the way of where I was heading to at the time. I did have to get off the 210 but it was rather close to the freeway so this was not terribly out of the way by any means. Located in a nice shopping area, there was plenty of parking in front of the shop as well as in the area since there is a Whole Foods Market. Note this was on a Tuesday morning before July 4th weekend. They had everything marked clearly so people kept their distance, and the spot to order was right up front with a partition. I paid at the next register a little further away (they provide a basket for those who pay with cash) and it took less than 2 minutes for me to receive my order. Not sure if it's the location or the months I spent away from here, but the price of what I normally get went up about .30 cents. I usually have the correct change but that didn't happen here today. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Service was fine, and I was on my way. If you're heading somewhere early out this way and require a bagel, I recommend you stop here where there is plenty of free parking and the food is guaranteed to be consistently good. read more

Ordered food to go, waited 5-10 minutes for breakfast bagel then had to go to counter to ask. They said oh, I called your name long time ago but they didn't call second time and there's no name on the bag. How would I know that's mine??? The least they could do is print out the order name and stick it to the bag like Starbucks. How hard could that be? And for this time, when I got home, I found half of my orders are missing! After moving to Pasadena about a year ago, I realized that there was a scarcity of bagelries. I mean, there's literally just this place and like 2 other places that I've found that are actual bagel shops in the entire city. There are many places that sell bagels on top of their other menu items but do not specialize in the bagel. Sadly, there seems to be a shortage of good bagel places and this may be the best of the bunch. Which isn't saying much, because it's just okay. I would assume there is demand for bagels out here because the lines in the mornings at this location and the one off Lake are ginormous in the mornings. That's a great business proposition for anyone looking to score some entrepreneur points. I'll give you that tip for free, no commission even I usually order the hummus veg out sandwich on a pretzel bagel, which is their version of a salt bagel. My wife and I both suffer from medical disabilities that make it difficult to slice the bagels ourselves. Despite the specific order, the bagels were not sliced. Today was my third experience in the last month where my order was wrong. The first time I ordered a bagel double toasted with flavored cc. The bagel and the cc were wrong, only to discover this in my car. The 2nd time the bagel was not toasted as asked and the cc was yet again wrong. Today I placed my very same order ( which always shows up correct on the receipt) and AGAIN the wrong cream cheese was put in the bag. After my 1st experience I always check. Today I had my second experience with manager Krystall V. speaking very rudely to me and my daughter. I used to be a service worker for many years, try to be extra friendly and accommodating w/restaurant employees, tip well, etc. In nearly 9 years living nearby I've never had a single bad experience at any restaurant, only at Einstein's. A few weeks ago, after we ordered our items, my 6 year-old had to go to the restroom very urgently. Krystall yelled we shouldn't go in since the floor was wet. I said I understood but said my daughter had to go really badly and if she could go to the employee restroom. Krystall said no. I then asked if Krystall could let me know when we could go into the restroom and she said we would. We waited literally 20 mins, no Krystall. We removed the yellow cone ourselves. I wrote it off to her maybe being busy and went on w/my day. Today, Krystall was once again being rude so now I know it wasn't just one bad day but just how she treats people. Most but not all of the chair were up on tables (around lunch time) and before I ordered, I asked the associate at the check-out if my daughter and I could sit down since my daughter was tired we were looking for a place to sit down and she said yes. As we got ready to sit down, Krystall said we couldn't sit down because she was cleaning. I said, I understood and we would sit down at the other corner of the large space so she would have space to clean (and also that the store associate had told us we could sit down before we paid. Krystall rudely and loudly said no, no "sorry," no "come back in 15 mins," no nothing so we were left with our hands full of snacks and drinks and nowhere to sit down. I told Krystall calmly this was the 2nd time I had a negative experience at the store and she just looked away, shook her shoulders and give me her card. I really feel for the other very nice who have to work for her. I believe in being kind whenever possible and in second chances but I won't be back to this Einstein's location (all the other one's in the LA county have been great btw). read more

Krystall Vanegas the General Manager took my coffee. I placed an order through the mobile app in order to take advantage of their free coffee promo. Historically, this promotion has included one free coffee per entree ordered. I forgot to select the coffees before checking out on my phone, so I asked the Cashier if we could still get the free coffees. She politely obliged. My girlfriend and I enjoyed said coffees while waiting for our order. Krystall, the General Manager, then approached us and informed us that the promo we referenced had recently changed and now only included one coffee per order. We acknowledged and made a mental note for future visits (Lol). Krystall then told us that she would have to charge us for the coffee after the fact, despite no prior communication of this change. I jokingly replied that we would just return the now partially consumed coffee, which Krystall took me up on without a moment's hesitation in a room full of customers. Not sure what was being accomplished here, as I can only imagine this one coffee made up an infinitesimally small percentage of their overhead and the coffee would presumably have to be thrown out anyways, with the only differing outcome being this online review. This ridiculous exchange prompted me to look up nearby alternatives for future bagel cravings as needless to say, I will never spend another dime here again. For any interested parties, I have found the following local Bagel Shops you can support instead, all of which have higher ratings than this particular Einstein Bros location. Nothing wrong with the quality. Just be cautious when ordering from them through food delivery services. We ordered 2 bagels, were charged for 2 bagels and received only 1. I called to confirm if one of the bagels was left behind at the restaurant. The employee I spoke to confirmed it was their error and referred me to the delivery service company for a refund.
