This isn't a stand-alone store, it's stashed in a broom closet sized room inside the Texas Best BBQ/truck stop/fuel station.
The bagels aren't cooked on-site. They're brought in from another store. Because of this, the bagels are stale.
The bagels are stored on the counter beside the cash register in open wire baskets. No protection of any kind from coughing/sneezing. At the height of cold/flu/Strep/RSV (and whatever remnants of COVID are still floating around) season. I don't see how the place passed a health/code inspection (if one was done).

Ok, cinnamon/raisin, toasted, with butter. "We don't have butter, Sir"
The lady rang up my order. The price was double what I pay at the closest Einstein Bagels, where I eat at least once a week.
By now, I was beginning to wonder if maybe I was on Impractical Jokers. To my immense disappointment, I wasn't.
Summary: unsafe food handing practices; stale bagels; no bagel selection, no butter, double the price I pay at my regular Einstein's. read more
