Pulled Pork sandwich w/ Eggy's award winning slaw.
Roger K.

I'd been wanting to try one of Eggy's famous egg sandwiches for a number of years. Everyone raves about them. My problem is that I don't typically get up early enough for breakfast. I thought today was going to be my opportunity. I was out of the house early to have some blood work done after fasting, and I even had an errand to do that would take me right by Eggy's. Unfortunately, I still missed Eggy's breakfast hours which end at 11 am. But I'm guessing that most of you early birds are missing out on a second treat that likely compensates those who prefer to hit the snooze button and show up at Eggy's for lunch. I ordered his Pulled Pork with Eggy's Award Winning Slaw ($6.99). The pork has a good balance of vinegar acidity and sweetness while being super tender. The slaw adds a nice crispness to each bite, is not overdressed, and allows all the flavors of the pulled pork to come through. This is no small sandwich. The pork and slaw are served on a really fresh and soft torpedo roll that holds up quite well to traveling should you decide to not eat at one of the picnic tables or in your car. Maybe someday I'll find myself driving home from an all-nighter before 11 am and I can score one of Eggy's breakfast sandwiches.

First- you have to judge a place for what it is. This is a stationary food truck in an industrial warehouse area. This is not the place for atmosphere or ambience. It is a working-person's food stand. A place to grab a hearty sandwich for as you head back to your construction site. So, there will be no detracting based on location or comfort. It has a wooden picnic table and two wooden spools that serve as stand up tables. No garbage can. Deal with it. (Don't look inside the truck if animated large-bosomed women and a "F**k Biden" sign would offend you.) Second - Eggy serves one thing. Fried egg sandwiches. A buttered roll with 2 fried eggs, cheese, and your choice of meat. (Bacon, sausage, bologna, pulled pork, and a couple of other options.) This is ok. I love egg sandwiches. And my friend who brought me here said, "These are the best egg sandwiches in the area." I can only assume my friend's concept of an egg sandwich or his definition of "area" are sorely misguided. If you only do one thing, you best be damn good at it. Eggy is not good at making egg sandwiches. I ordered mine with extra cheese and crispy bacon. The eggs were fried hard. The bacon was charred and burnt almost beyond recognition. The cheese was melted, but otherwise tasteless. The roll was the best part of the sandwich. I could make a better egg sandwich at home with one hand behind my back while wearing a blindfold. I see this place has 5 stars. And it is spoken of with reverence in foodie circles in this town. And I have no idea why. The best I can say is, it's an experience.

Great find thanks to yelp. Really good home made breakfast sandwich. I got a bacon, egg and cheese on a hard roll and it was as good as if I made it at home but I didn't have to go through the trouble of doing it. This place is almost on my way to work but morning time is precious so I went on a day off and got there before 11am. At just before 11am the guy that runs the food truck switches out his menu to a lunch menu. I would definitely go back if timing is convenient and I am in the area. Friendly service.

Is it across the street from a methadone clinic? Yeah. But are the bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches legit? Totally. This has to be a contender for one of the best BEC in the region. I know that's a big claim. But the guy manning the grill told me that he used to be the guy behind breakfast at Quintessence. The original Quintessence. Not it's gussied up second life. And this guy, who goes by the name of Eggy, puts a lot of heart into what he does. This truck isn't exactly a mobile operation. Eggy pays rent on the land, and he runs an electric line so you don't hear the drone of a generator while you eat your expertly griddled sandwich at the smartly painted picnic table adjacent to the truck. These eggs are from the hard fried school. Some people love 'em like that with crisp edges. I'm typically a fan of lower heat cooking for more tender whites. But it works here. Mostly because that bacon is just so fantastically crisp. And there's no question about what kind of cheese this sandwich comes with, it's white american. Obviously. And the thing is so flavorful you can skip the saltpepperketchup. I mean, this isn't Jersey, you know. If you're sketched out, don't be. Come. Enjoy this. And know that you're getting a special treat that those who may be skittish about the neighborhood will never get to experience. N.B. Last year Eggy stayed open until late December. He's trying to winterize the truck a bit better this year. But now he has a phone, so you can call and confirm if you plan to make the drive out.

It's just one guy in a tiny little food truck, slinging some of the tastiest food I have eaten in a while. The picture is of the pulled pork and slaw sandwich. The whole plate (with a drink) was $8.95 and it was so much food I couldn't finish it. The slaw is "award winning", and for good reason. It's delicious! Makes me excited for my next trip to Albany.

Best mango smoothie

Kim our serves was the best. Great customer service. Food taste great and didn't take long to come out.

Bacon and egg breakfast sandwich!

The BEST breakfast sandwich I have ever had!!!! You can tell as soon as you walk up to get in line at the Eggy's truck that this is a local favorite and as soon as you take that first bite you will know why! The roll was soft and warm, we literally watched him crack the eggs onto the griddle and cook the bacon right in front of us while we waited! Fresh food, cooked to order, reasonable prices and it's delicious! Definitely going to be a place we go back to time and time again!!!! Thanks Eggy! Can't wait to check out lunch sometime!

After reading Daniel Berman's review last night, I came first thing in the in the morning. I may have even been the first customer. The owner was indeed a personality, as he greeted me with a "what's up boss?" and told me he had a sandwich already cooking for me when he heard me pull up, this was my first time here. My "eggwich" and coffee was served in less than two minutes along with "a nice soft napkin, not like that brown sh*t that rips your face apart." For what it is, this is perfect. A quick, simple, delicious bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a hardroll and a coffee for less than a 5 spot. Exactly what I needed this morning, after a long night of work and before it begins again.

Eggy's place

Little food truck posted up in a parking lot. Owner/chef has a ton of character, with cheeky signs and witty quips as he's whipping up your sandwich. 4 slices of bacon (or other meats), and two eggs per sandwich. Only a dollar more for a coffee included. Cold drinks in coolers outside. Great place for reasonable prices.

The craziness of…read morethe new rage, from an oldie but goodie, and the committment from the owner to make his/her greateness available at reasonable price and in cool digs. Now, I wouldn't call the New York State Capital lawn cool digs, but seeing as it just a few blocks away and plenty of green grass, park benches, picnic tables, and other seating, how can one resist coming out here for a stroll and a great bite to eat? Not to mention, it is the only place in Albany where you can find 4-5 food trucks to choose from, which makes me feel sad, as that number is low compared to other progressive cities like, San Diego, San Francisco, Austin, Dallas, New York. It also upsets some people that the capitol gets special treatment for placement of food trucks, but let's save that for another day. Michele's looked good. I was simply craving a burger and fries. However, I've learned from my food trucking, that fries can be somewhat of a challenge. Either soggy, dried, or just not right. I hate suffering through that, so instead, I ordered the tots they have. Being a chemist by nature, I don't know what it is with tots, but you can hardly mess them up. They always come out crispy on outside and nice and hot inside. Michele's did not disappoint. I ordered my 0.3lb burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The film broke loose and this movie came to a screeching halt when I heard, "We are out of onions." "Ahhhhgg," I thought, as in my opinion a burger just isn't a burger without onions. Before I could complete my sigh of disbelief, the server said, "We can put some fried onions on it, if you want. Will take a little longer." I was ecstatic. Not because I got my onions, albeit in a different form, but the food truck guy did not have to offer this, but he did. Why? I don't know, ask him, but I can guess it is because they have that food truck service mentality of "Let's take care of our special customers." It did take a little longer but was worth it. The cook handed me a freshly cooked cheeseburger with fried onions and tater tots. He even warned me that the tots were piping hot just out of the fryer. Really nice touch. I will definitely be back and try their other menu items which look really good including the clam, even though I am not a big clam fan.
