So I liked and disliked this place. Like: The food was delicious. I ordered a traditional waffle with a side order of home fries. The waffle was huge and the home fries had a delicious seasoning on them. My brother ordered the French toast and received 4 slices and a side of sausage. Both meals came with 2 pieces of cantaloupe. My boyfriend's meal was good, but had issues. My tea was hot and stayed hot the whole visit. Dislike: They took forever to greet us and other parties at the door. We were seated immediately though. Then when our food came out my boyfriend only got his toast and the waitress realized then that she forgot to place his order - and asked him what it was again. He ordered the Eggsmart Tri-fecta with over-easy eggs, pancakes and bacon. He wanted the toast with his eggs, but they had that done already. We had to ask for butter for the pancakes and my waffle (description say sit comes with it). Not sure if butter was on the French toast, but my brother ate it all. Never asked if we needed refills on drinks until the food was gone. As for the screw-up, they only offered one sorry and did not give us any discounts on the bill. I would not want to ever have her as a waitress again with the service she provided. The food really was very good, but I am not sure if I would return due to the service. read more

Not only did the food take 45 minutes to come out, but it was so mediocre. If I'm going to wait 45 minutes for eggs, then i at least expect them to be good. I can't believe I just spent 30$ on this meal. Highly disappointed, please avoid coming here. Eggssmart more like Eggshorrible. read more

Came here while shopping at the mall, friend's of mine reccomended it. Boy were they right! We try to stick to a Keto diet, anywhere else you have to ask to get something else instead of potatoes etc etc. This place has a very healthy menu, after eating you don't get the glutonous-blues. Coffee was the best and with huge windows all around the atmosphere was really good. Last but not least, service was fast and friendly with Coffee top up frequently. 6/27/15: I would say that this Canadian chain's food quality is in the same group as our American Denny's, but maybe a little less tasty. However, they took FOREVER to serve our food here. We waited so long for the food that when it did arrive we told them we had to go and had them pack it up cause we were already behind schedule. That really sucked. 1. Glass of Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice C$3.99: Definitely tasted fresh squeezed. Was good enough. 5/10. 2. Peameal Provolone Melter C$8.99: After having our amazing peameal bacon at Carousel Bakery in Toronto, we were looking for the stuff everywhere! Well, this ain't nothing at all like the Carousel's version. Just a bunch of what we Americans call "Canadian bacon" in a sandwich. Fries were good, sandwich tasted okay, but nothing notable. 5/10. 3. unknown breakfast sandwich?: Not sure what this was from the pictures, cause it doesn't match any of the menu items I see. But anyway, I don't remember anything about it, so I assume it was nothing special. The food's pretty standard. Again, just a bit worse than Denny's, which is my calibrator for a 3. We were at this Eggsmart yesterday morning around 9am. This review is mostly based on the experience and less on the food. The food was standard breakfast fare. No issues, tasted just fine. However, I am unhappy to report that the open kitchen area lead to the customers being acutely aware of group dynamics within the Eggsmart team. Specifically, the female cook behind the counter. Through the course of our meal, she was downright rude and dismissive to the all female wait staff. Some of the comments she made, which could be clearly heard from the dining area, were insulting and demeaning in nature. I could clearly see the servers were uncomfortable and even insulted by the barrage of comments coming their way. This dynamic may have also contributed to the mass confusion in the kitchen. Our meal took entirely too long to come out. The guy at the next table over almost got up and walked out. Fortunately, his server brought his food at just the right (or very wrong, depending on how you look at it) time. The restaurant was less than half full. It was not a matter of bring too busy and overwhelmed...Additionally, there were 2 food couriers waiting for almost 30 minutes of the time we were there. They could not seem to organize or arrange things properly. Very disappointing as we could see that the servers were trying their best. read more

Pretty good on what's expected at any decent Eggsmart in GTA. Service was courteous and attentive. We had Garden fresh vegetarian omelette and Super Scrambler with chicken + mushrooms. Really loved the Jersey Shore fries. Coffee was quite alright. A good brunch overall. read more

When my sister and I arrived the place was PACKED! We noticed a few empty tables thinking that the people waiting will get to their tables so we and a few others can wait indoors. Well, unfortunately, that wasn't the case. A couple had come out saying they were told the wait was going to be 5-10 minutes, but they said they waited for half an hour. They said it's not worth the wait. My sister and I decided to go next door to Starbucks and grab a warm latte and head somewhere else. Whoever approved the designs for this location is lucky to have a design job. What kind of restaurant doesn't have a waiting area for their customers? Oh wait, this place does... it's called outside in the cold during winter season or tanning on hot temperatures. Brilliant! read more

We came here for a Sunday Brunch. To be honest, there are many brunch restaurants are more worth it and taste a lot better than EggSmart. The reason why I give them 1 star is because of two things. First, we ordered a big breakfast with sunny eggs, but they come out with well done eggs cooked both side.... the bacons are very dry, we even think that we can cook better than this restaurant.... Secondly, we ordered a waffle with fresh fruit, the waffles are too dry like the bacon, and it doesn't come with any dressing or sauce, so we ask for chocolate syrup. The waitress said they don't have any chocolate syrup, how about Nutella? We are not picky, so we ok with that. when we pay the bill, there are $2 extra charges for the Nutella!!!! But the waitress didn't tell us there is extra charge for the dressing, $2 is not a very expensive price, but I think they have the responsible to tell each customer the price before putting the dressing on. Not just add up the price to the bill, we don't mind to pay for extra, but to be a good service, the waitress have their responsible to explain each additional price to the customer. That's what our tips pay right? And they didn't apologize for this.... Today's experience make us don't want to come back..... read more

Great value for your money. The menu has many breakfast options, both traditional and unique (for example, egg scramble bowls). They also serve turkey bacon as a meat option, which is wonderful! My only complaint is that you may have to wait for a bit after you order your food. We were only a group of four at our last visit, so not sure why there was a hold up. This place looks homie, and is meant to be that way, so expecting a bistro is laughable. There is a tiny waiting area, so if you come here at peak time, there may not be space to wait inside, just like most restaurants I know, so no one should ever complain about that. Service is good, considering I'm not at nor paying for a dine-in restaurant, I'm happy with the service. Alright, on with the food. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Egg Bennie. The presentation was perfect. Generous amount of smoked salmon, sauce, and perfectly cooked eggs. The home fries were good, but could be a little less mushy. I asked for soft egg, and it was poached to perfection. The only complain I have was the sauce. Yes, there were plenty of it, but it was bland. Good thing the smoked salmon has enough flavour to almost saved it. With tips (no drink) my bill came under $15, so it's interesting that some reviewers claim theirs cost $20. Oh well, always read reviews with a critical mind or you will miss out on good food and service. read more

Food was just okay for the prices.. The coffee was not very good but the worst thing about this place was the cleanliness. We had 4 people on our table and 2 of them had dirty utensils with dried up food leftovers on the fork, gross! So we told the waitress and she grabbed up two from another table.. they were both dirty too! It's a little appalling that out of 6 utensils only 2 were clean, chances are the kitchen isn't that clean either! Also the waitress was super awkward and she was very overwhelmed by the amount of people in the restaurant that it would take us forever to flag her down. This place is nearby my house, and on a day off with the car in the shop I walked to it. I wish I hadn't. Very mediocre breakfast. Omelette was kind of cold with unmelted cheese and the add ins (I had meat and green peppers) didn't taste very fresh, and it was bad. Rye toast was not toasted, which made it bread. Home fries were a bit cold in middle. Redeeming factor was the service, the girls were nice and didn't mind refilling our coffees as we sat and waited for the car to be ready to pickup. Probably let us stay for close to two hours and were always checking on us. Great service, bad food. Won't return. read more

One star based on the fact another watress came to help when ours was busy stealing other co workers twbkes. To top it off it was fathers day my dad paid for my mom because he does not let anyone take care of his old lady and to all of our amazement she charges the entire table to his card. She never came by for new drinks or anything else. She never brought us napkins or nothing. Or table was absolutely disgusting found my shirt stuck right too it. I came here on a Saturday afternoon excited to try a new breakfast place, and the prices looked very reasonable. There seem to be more and more overpriced breakfast places popping up these days, so it's reassuring to see a place charging well under $10 for an Eggs Benedict, and similarly good prices on other breakfast items. There was a bit of a line to get in (on a Saturday), which I took to be a good sign. It turns out that it may just be the dearth of quality breakfast places in the area that contributed to the wait. After we ordered, we were told that our food would be ready shortly, which was reassuring because the place was quite full. 30 minutes later, our two breakfasts arrived. Unfortunately, my wife's french toast was cold, and the bread wasn't even soaked through with the batter - the middle was just plain white toast! I saw them put the french toast up on the hot plate table (at the end, where the heat lamps don't reach) about 15 minutes before the rest of our meal, and it just sat there until the rest of the meal was ready! The rest of the meal was average breakfast fare; the hash browns were decent but a bit salty (but who goes to breakfast expecting health food, anyways?). The pancakes were mediocre (they tasted like mix to me). The service was OK. I don't think I'll be going back, which is a shame because their prices are reasonable and they're one of the closest breakfast places. Also, if they had simply said that there was a bit of a wait for the food as well, I think I would have been less disappointed that it took them 30 minutes to prepare two breakfasts. That wouldn't have excused the cold french toast, though. read more

Went at lunchtime, when a coworker decided he wanted a breakfast-style lunch. I wasn't feeling eggy, so I picked fish and chips. That was my first mistake. In hindsight, who orders fish and chips at a breakfast restaurant? The picture on the menu looked good. Turns out it's nothing more than store-bought Captain Highliner-style fish. The coleslaw smelled like it had been sitting out for three days, and looked like slimy mush. The fries were those oversized, previously-frozen type. They really should remove that option from the menu, as it doesn't do them any favours. Service was slow and inattentive. I had to ask for water twice. And we had to wait for almost 30 minutes to get our food. Total bill was almost $30.00 with tax and tip, for the both of us. For that price, I will go to an AYCE japanese buffet and spend my hard-earned money on quality food and service. read more

My son and I stopped in here this morning for breakfast, I drive by every morning on the way in to work so I'd been meaning to try it. We must have lucked out as we got the last table in the joint. We sat for over 5 minutes before we were finally acknowledged by our waiter. It was 11:30 am on a Saturday and the place was packed so I didn't sweat it. Once our order was taken the coffee arrived in good time and our order didn't take all that long after that. My son ordered three eggs and bacon and I ordered the Montreal Smoked Hash and 4 eggs. Both orders came with toast and potatoes. When the orders arrived my son's plate was huge but looking at mine you could barely see the potatoes and smoked meat which were hidden under the eggs. There was barely any meat at all in the hash. My "over easy" eggs were cooked semi-hard as well. I could have made a much better breakfast at home. At least they kept coming around with coffee refills. My son said his breakfast was fine, but then he wasn't paying the bill. $26 bucks plus tip. Ouch! This place also has no waiting area, by the time we finished and walked out there were people lined up out the door and along the walkway. I don't get it. This place is close to awful. Somehow this place was rated 92% with Google and that is exactly why I suggested a friend and I meet there to catch up. I brought my 7 month old as well. I called ahead to make sure they had highchairs with lap-belts and they did. They also told me the wait around 10 am would be about 15 minutes and it was. We were seated at a table with a highchair by friendly staff. But, from there it went downhill. The table we were sitting at was a light coloured wood but the edges were BLACK and sticky. Of course, the high chair was the perfect height to line my teething daughter up with the edge of the table too. GROSS! We used baby wipes and hand sanitizer to try and wipe it down and they kept coming up black but there was no way to clean these edges. I kept her pulled back from the table and occupied her with toys while we ate. The highchair and chair-backs were also dirty and sticky. The place was filled with a burnt-oil smoke and we all left wreaking of a stinky diner - it was all in our hair and clothes. My husband even commented on it when we came home. The menu they gave me was torn along the spine and nearly in two pieces. My meal was really awful. I know breakfast is this places specialty but I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The salad consisted of mainly the spines of romaine lettuce with a sprinkle of tiny pieces of tomato and green pepper and about 4 pieces of red onion. It gets worse. My "grilled chicken" was a single warmed piece of one of those processed/formed/salty chicken breasts that people who care little to none about their health eat. I politely complained to the waitress and she kindly offered a substitute and I opted for a few poached eggs instead - which were cooked to my request. Overall, I think this place is dirty, I mean GROSS dirty, poorly cared-for and my meal was just disgusting. The only positives are that the staff were nice and kept coming around with hot coffee pots to fill your cup which was nice. I had decaf coffee and it tasted great. On the other hand, the one girl did frighten me though because while carrying two likely very hot pots of coffee she hovered over my daughters head who at this curious age reached right for them. Disappointing. The food was okay, standard breakfast fare with nothing special. Charged $2.50 for extra hollandaise - would've been fine but it came in a teeny container that ketchup usually comes in when you order a burger. When my friend ask for spinach instead of ham on her order (which she's had there before) instead of just saying she'd see if that was possible the response was "oh, I don't know. I got yelled at yesterday for doing that. I'll have to check". Asked at the end if we'd like separate bills for 5 of us - we said yes, then 7 minutes later comes back says it was too hard can she give one bill. Ok, fine. Then we want to put 1/2 each on two credit cards. After her running back and forth then says she can't do it, will just separate the bills with some help. After that up changing them again so we can put more than one person on a card. It was about 25 minutes from asking for the bill and finally getting to pay. Then as we leave, waitress says "Bye, I hope you don't have a headache now. I know I do" Could blame the waitress, but maybe it's a training issue. Back to Smitty's where you get a big tub of extra sauce for less and the service is always warm & competent. read more
