There are rumors around town that the Saloon has been sold to new franchise owners. I would highly recommend going somewhere else on the Inlet if you're looking for a meal worth the price. And if the rumors are true somewhere locally owned. I'm only writing this review because this has always been such a good spot, and I really hope they fix these issues.

She was very apologetic and said that it was important to her that he received what he had ordered. I ordered the eggs Benedict with grits and always ask for my English muffin to be extra toasted and they nailed it!!!! It was perfectly crispy and held up I the hollandaise sauce and egg yolk. The hollandaise sauce was some of the best I've ever had (and I have had a lot in various states). Perfect balance of creaminess and texture. The grits are nothing to get excited about as they are instant and slightly disappointing. Overall we both really enjoyed our meals. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying other items from the menu.

I had the biscuits and gravy (a special on the board). While they were tasty, the biscuit was more crumbly than I like and the presentation was visually unappealing. The interior was clean and had a definite "Mom and Pop" vibe. It is Veteran owned, which was a plus for us! The price was just right for the very good breakfast that we were served. I would recommend you stop here at any point on your vacation, you won't be disappointed.

We ordered coffee, an omelet, and a scrambled egg sandwich. One of the things that attracted us was the restaurant's claim of being a scratch kitchen that uses premium ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to those expectations. The coffee was disappointing--watery and weak. We were told they grind their own dark roast beans, which led me to expect an excellent cup of coffee. However, if too little coffee is used when brewing the pot, even great beans produce weak coffee. That was definitely the case here. At $4.00 per cup, I expect a quality cup of coffee, and this one simply wasn't worth the price or frankly, any price. The omelet was ordered with bacon and caramelized onions. We specifically asked our server to make sure the onions were well caramelized, but they were not. Even more noticeable was the amount of bacon. It completely overwhelmed the dish--it felt more like bacon with a little egg than an omelet. Finally, the scrambled eggs on the sandwich weren't really scrambled at all. They were cooked as one solid sheet, more like a thin omelet. For a restaurant that specializes in breakfast, brunch, and lunch, consistently preparing eggs should be one of its strengths. I truly hope whoever oversees the kitchen takes these comments in the constructive spirit they're intended. The restaurant has a great concept and quality ingredients, but paying closer attention to execution and consistency would make a significant difference. I'd be happy to give Famous Toastery another try if these issues are addressed.
