Date of visit: 11/19/17 Very nice restaurant. Friendly service. Unfortunately the meal I had was not up to my expectations but I may come back to try another dish. They seem to have several unique items to try. I have not found a good Italian french toast in a while so I was excited to see The Autumn in Italy French Toast on the menu. I apparently overlooked the fact that it was made with a sweet bread which I do not like in a french toast. I found it overly sweet with and with a very crumbly texture. I was hoping for more of a classic french with the addition of blueberries,mascarpone and granola. I did not care for it at all. Coffee is Intelligentsia coffee which I love (and they they leave a carafe!) but they do not offer flavored creamers. Hopefully I will be back to raise my rating! read more

I went on a busy Sunday morning. Downtown Geneva is sweet and offers a lot of restaurants and shopping options. This is one of the better places to eat at. First, I got in right away. Egg Harbor Cafe is large. It is s chain and I've been to a few, the quality has been good at each location I've been to. The food is excellent. I've only ever had breakfast at Egg Harbor but what I've had has been excellent. I've had pancakes and the never ending coffee on the past. This time I had a healthy egg white scramble with veggies and hot apple cider. My friend had a gluten free cinnamon roll. All excellent. This place serves comfort food but can accommodate those looking for: vegetarian, gluten free, healthy, etc. Egg Harbor also offers seasonal items that are wonderful. read more

This place is near and dear to me. It's cozy, the food is good. Egg Harbor Cafe offers mugs, bowls, t-shirts, etc. for purchase in various colors. I have 6 mugs at home. Food is great as always. Discovered that their matcha is my new favorite! Four stars because service is okay. Last time we asked one of the bus boys to get out server because we wanted another drink and as we watched the bus boy tell our server we wanted him to come to our table from across the restaurant, our server looked right at as and then didn't come to our table. Only came back 5 or so minutes later with the check. Chilaquiles are good, but we asked them extra crispy because last time they were too soggy for my liking, when they came out, you could just tell.. The chips had that stale crispy taste/texture to them as if they just popped them in the microwave. Maybe Im wrong, but I feel that they could be better, still a good dish though! read more

Cold food with no flavor. That's going to be a no for the six of us. I think this is the first time in 5 years my wife actually complained to me about the food. Family and I dined here on a Sunday afternoon, and we all have mixed feelings. The server was very nice, but that's about it. The food is expensive for what you get, most meals are around $10-$12. The skillet barely had any cheese and was very underwhelming. The biscuits and gravy were ok, but they could have gave more potatoes. We also ordered a "gourmet cinnamon roll" not sure what was gourmet about it. The cinnamon roll was so dry that it was hard to get it down my throat. The side of pancakes were also dry as heck. BEST SERVICE IN A LONG TIME!! Our server was Linda, and she was so kind and genuine. It makes an entire dining experience so much more enjoyable. I'm sure I've ate at an Egg Harbor before, but it doesn't stand out in my memory. Now it definitely will. I had the eggs benedict with corned beef hash, which was pretty good. They had a flavored coffee as a special so I also had that. Our server offered us to-go cups for our beverages which I thought was definitely going the extra mile. A few weeks back I called in an order on a rainy day. I arrived with my 2 year old to pick up my order and was (in a rude tone of voice) told there are no pick ups today. I explained I had already called it in and was again rudely told that's not possible. Well, admittedly I was wrong - I called the wrong Egg Harbor. I asked if she could make an exception given the other was a 30 minute drive for me. And she said no...I should also mention 6 of the staff were standing there in the front doing nothing. As I complained another father came in with his child and asked to make an order and he was sent away as well. I will absolutely never go to the restaurant again. To have someone half my age speak to me like that - very insulting. read more

I ordered breakfast for curbside pick up today and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. You have to order online and I was a little concerned because I wanted to substitute fruit for the potatoes that came with my Farmer's Market Benedict and I didnt see an option to do that. I ended up writing it in the special instructions section and I was given the fruit, so no problems there. My benedict was delicious and the egg yolks were still runny by the time I got home - just as they should be. I've had problems with the yolks being hard when ordering benedicts as carryout from other local restaurants. I also ordered the Supreme Grits as a side. They were outstanding and a good value. Park on South St, which is on the south side of the building, when picking up. Be kind and tip. And wear your mask to be on the safe side. read more

There are several of these in the area. I've been to the other one in wheaton as well, and I like this one more. It's a bit more upscale, but that might just be the Geneva pretentiousness. It's okay, I lived in Geneva for several years so I can say that (I'm just jaded). It gets busy on weekends like any restaurant so I might suggest reservations for larger groups or if you can that far ahead. The food is solid and they will almost for sure tell you the wait time is 45 minutes but likely, on a Saturday morning, it will be shorter. The host/hostesses seem to be on the younger side and always seem to be happy. The staff as well demonstrates some solid Midwestern courtesy. The food is the standard affair with healthy versions of the staples. This is a great place for a morning date or the first stop of a fun day of activities. I would also drop by to nurse a hangover, but only if you don't mind not fitting in with all the hipsters and yuppies. read more

This place is amaaazing, I'll try to keep the fan-girling to a minimum. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the service is always fantastically effective and friendly. And trust me, others know how good this place is. The wait may be long on some days, sadly no reservations, but it is entirely worth it! (They're located in a really cute little outdoor mall area, so you can wander a bit!) They're super effective at getting tables ready, often they bring you to your table as they're finishing up setting it. The coffee mugs are all uniquely glazed and adorable. The servers always make sure you have enough coffee as well, so that endeared them to me right away! Again, the food is scrumptious. I've only been here for breakfast; someday I have to try their lunch! They have tons of healthy options that don't skimp on taste! The food is obviously made with fresh and very good quality ingredients. They have traditional foods, but my favorites are the dishes that they've given a new taste to, or their original recipes! On that note, definitely try their Bacado Omelet, Farmer's Market Benedict, and everything in the Egg-cetera section! The breakfast potatoes are perfect, something I'll judge harshly, but they more than meet my standards!! Basically I could go on and on about how good their food is. Oh, and the cherry on top? They're cheaper than any other breakfast place I've been to. We stopped in for lunch here and had an pretty enjoyable meal. Décor: The look and feel of the interior has a quasi-house feel to it. A good amount of windows let in some solid natural light and the décor in general is just homey feeling. There are a lot of tables, which is good because this place is very popular around breakfast/brunch. But as crowded as it gets it doesn't feel like it's just mobbed due to the table spacing. Bathroom: pretty standard and very clean Staff: The greeter was very nice and our waitress mirrored that. Food: We were there for lunch but ended up with a mix. We had a "scrambler" (which was odd when I was asked how I'd like the eggs with it...) and was very tasty and a soup/salad combo. Everything was very tasty and the portions were very healthy-sized. Value: We walked out feeling full and not like we had been robbed because the prices are on par with any establishment of this nature. This place has mmmmm-azing breakfast. I would only recommend coming here if you're the adventurous type, though, just because of the price. Otherwise, your money is better spent at the Manner or Mother's. The atmosphere is very "grandma's kitchen" (If grandma's kitchen were a warehouse full of chicken-themed objects). It's a fun place. This weekend my friend came to visit from out of town. I wanted to take her somewhere local, and I had eaten at the Egg Harbor in Naperville previously, so I knew it would be great. We arrived around 9:30 and were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was quick, friendly, helpful, and engaging. We really appreciated her recommendations. My friend ordered the Farmer's Market Eggs Benedict with a side of cheese grits. She loved it! She makes hollandaise sauce on her own (very difficult, apparently - who knew?) and she loved theirs. I got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs, bacon, and some strawberry lemonade to drink. Every bite was delicious!!! We catered brunch for mothers day. Had made the order 2-3 weeks in advance. When came time to pick up the order they said should be a few minutes , 1/2 hour later still no food. Comment was they are slammed and are behind on take out orders. Food finally was able to be picked over 2 hours after the time we scheduled. The coffee was fine, but the menu is strange. I've never gone to a breakfast place and been forced to get an English muffin, which was so cheap it was mostly air. I got a skillet and it was so greasy and just not good. My sister got an omelette and it was also just below average. Biscuits and gravy are like glue and have no seasoning so don't bother. Great breakfast and lunch spot in Geneva. We were out shopping around and worked up an appetite for lunch. This place is tucked away in one of the little squares with some other restaurants and shops. It can be a long wait so I would recommend putting your name in and walking around to pass the time. For Brunch I got Joe's healthy scramble which was so good I ate it all. It's a great option if you're trying to watch your calorie intake and maximize getting your macros in. Made with egg whites, chicken sausage, spinach and mushrooms it checked all the boxes for being healthy. There was an usually large amount of cheese on top but I was able to scrape most of that off. The fruit and wheat bread on the side were also good compliments. They have a ton of other breakfast and lunch items on the menu, including a kids menu which is essential when traveling with my group. read more

This review is hard to write. We have been going to Egg Harbor consistently since it opened many years ago. After the long pandemic isolation, this was one of the first places we wanted to return to when it felt safe to do so. But it was filthy. There's no reason for a restaurant to be in that state except for neglect. Dust was on the top of the ledges. The bottom of the booths had thick dust accumulating near the floor. The carpet was dingy. I'm going to say it -- there's absolutely no way the previous managers (Gary and Mel) would have allowed the place to look like that. The food was not great either (eggs were tasteless, and some items were stone cold), but quite honestly, given the state of the public areas, I don't trust the kitchen anyway. Other reviewers are correct- it is extremely crowded and noisy on the weekends- and still fairly busy on weekdays- but they move people in and out quickly. Egg Harbor is always good. Plenty of options, very fast service, decent prices, and large portions. But more than $2 for a cup of coffee is silly. If you take advantage and sit for a few cups it could be worth it (even though a cup at Starbucks is less and you get a free refill...), but if you only have one cup it's too pricey. Also, on the weekends it can get busy with a brunch rush. I believe they offer a call ahead waitlist and I'd try it next time I visit during those prime Saturday/Sunday brunch hours. read more

(04/20/2019)my boyfriend's family and I went here for breakfast. We were told the wait time would be 15-20 minutes. Ended up waiting almost an hour. We ran out of coffee and water right when we got our food and never got a refill. We ordered our food pretty early because we were low on time at that point, yet all the tables around us who got sat after we ordered got their food before us. Once we got our food the portions were tiny, it was cold, and no one checked back with us to see how it was. My boyfriends brother had to get his own box. The food was ridiculously over priced for the service/amount of food you're getting. I've had great experiences at the Naperville egg Harbor Café, but this one was enough for me to not want to return to either of them. read more

I came here with a couple of friends on a Thursday around lunch time. There was no wait and it was pretty empty. I had already had breakfast kind of late so I ordered a side of breakfast potatoes, turkey bacon and fresh berries. The side of fresh berries was super small and around 4 bucks, I thought it was over priced for what it actually was. Everyone's food was great, looked great and smelled great. I'm a fan of Egg Harbor Cafés, and their Geneva location is probably my favorite. I find the food consistently high quality amd delicious at all their locations. Their menu is has the same great selections, including the best gluten-free pancakes I've ever had. What I like best about this location is the physical space. It is a bit more open and airu than the others. It is probably newer than the others I frequent, amd it shows. I always feel like I'm on vacation when I'm in Geneva, and Egg Harbor feels like the perfect cottage retreat to start the day! read more

Most food here is pretty good but overall this place is overrated. The wait is usually an hour if not more on the weekends. Their harbor potatoes are dry and lack flavor. The oatmeal is great and the skillets are amazing! Once you're seated service is fast but the waitresses usually try to rush you to leave right after you get your food. read more
