Our server was friendly and enthusiastic as she brought dish after dish, never leaving us short of tea or napkins. She even gave us extra dessert as my father and I really liked it. There's a handful of parking spots outside, not much though. Great for family and friends, lots of seating inside. Good for groups of 2-8. This is one of the most affordable Chinese restaurants I've found, it's super affordable and for 7 people, our bill came to about $250.

As my friend puts it, this place really needs better marketing! Everyone was under the impression…read morethat it only serves breakfast when it actually has quite an extensive menu. The restaurant is located at the bottom of a residential building and doesn't look like much from the outside either. As soon as we opened the door though, it was a different story. First of all, the place smelt so good! I don't think I've noticed this as much at any other restaurant I've been to. The decor is super cute in a really unique way, with menus drawn (by hand!) on the wall and the tables and chairs arranged very neatly. They also have this rock, paper, scissors concept going on - you play the game with the cashier, and there's a discount if you win. On to the food - it's delicious. Portions are huge with a good meat and vegetables to noodle ratio. I also didn't find it too greasy, always a plus. Prices are extremely reasonable as well - they have a breakfast congee + stuffed bun combo for $4.99, which I will definitely try in the future. Service could have been faster (and no one took the initiative to greet us when we walked in or anything), but it's also quite friendly and we stayed a while in there without being bothered. Personally, I think this place is WAY better than Foodie Fruitie next door and deserves to be recognized as such :)

The interior is very cute here - the menu is handwritten on a chalkboard and they have stuffed animals on sale at the side. We came here at around 30 minutes before closing time so unfortunately we were only able to get takeout. There was plenty of available seating though and the restaurant was clean and tidy. We decided to order the cold noodles (liang pi) and the yo po noodles which came up to a total of $16. You get to play rock paper scissors with the cashier, and if you win you get 5% off your order. Portions were huge for the price and the food smelled so good! The noodles itself were quite chewy and carried the sauce well. I think both dishes were a tad too oily though, and it also tasted more sour than spicy. I probably won't order these dishes again, but I noticed they serve other interesting dishes on their menu like peking duck pork wraps and pork patties - I might just give it another try when I'm in the area!

During my visit, a friend and I ordered the Braised Pork Rice (~$10), Stewed Beef Noodles (~$12), and the Beef Wrap (~$6). The ordering is done at the front counter, but a kind server will bring you the food if you choose to eat-in (which I'd recommend - the atmosphere is lovely and the place never looks to be too crowded). The first thing we noticed about the food was that the portions were massive. The Braised Pork Rice was a decent size, but definitely manageable for a hungry person with an average appetite. The bowl of Stewed Beef Noodles, on the other hand, was definitely huge enough to satisfy two people. We expected the Beef Wrap to be appetizer-sized, but it came out looking like a full-sized burrito. Needless to say, we ordered far more than enough food for our stay. Taste-wise, the braised pork and beef wrap were both a 4/5. The noodle broth wasn't my favourite, but I might just order it again if I get hungry enough (lol). Overall, Silkburg is a great addition to the neighbourhood and serves as the perfect place for a low-key meal. :-)
