Omelet plate. My husband raved about it!
    Shannon M.

Found this Mexican restaurant by accident. Decided to try it out as it looked like a lot of locals ate here. Always a good sign. Seated and given menus right away. Waitresses were very friendly and helpful when we had questions. Order at the front of the restaurant. Food came pretty quickly and looked and tasted delicious. I had one shrimp street taco and my husband had the carne asada omelet. In the picture of my taco, my husband put the avocado on it. It didn't come that way. The mural painted on the wall was so well done and fun to look at. When we are back in Oceano, we will definitely come by here again.

    Delicious Mexican breakfast Machaca plate

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican breakfast that doesn't cost $20 a plate this place rocks! I had the machaca breakfast. It was really really good. There's a great coffee shop next-door if you want to bring over a latte or something

Efrens in Oceano is a delightful restaurant with booths and tables for a sit down meal. The menu has a lot of meat options so you can customize your burritos, tacos etc. I found the service was friendly and welcoming. They carry bootle and xan drinks. My favorite is ice cold Senorial Sangria. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, get over here!!

    Carne Asada Taco 10/10

Super yummy food with really great prices. My boyfriend got a Jumbo Wet burrito and it was so huge! He had leftovers which doesn't happen often haha. I just decided to get a single taco and oh boy that was even filling for me believe or not! They loaded it with meat and onion and put a yummy spicy salsa on it. So delicious! We decided to get take out, and from that the service seemed nice. The food took a bit but they had other people there was well. Inside there's a cute little space with a good amount of tables to sit down if you want. Overall I liked it and I would like to try more of their food! Lots of options too.

Grabbed takeout before hitting the beach and so glad we did. The Nachos bomb! Camarones a la Diabla bomb! I love their food! Perfect customer service. The young lady who took our order was sharp. She was serving all the customers on her own. One thing I'd like to request from the owner is fixing their tipping system. Selected the tip option, but would not allow me to punch in an amount. I could not leave a tip unfortunately using my credit card. No cash at hand. Sad.

    Shrimp enchilada plate

After long travel day we were all very hungry and wanted Mexican. We ordered DoorDash from Efren's based on selection and Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the results. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas (pictured). They were covered in shredded lettuce and the corn tortilla was very soggy (sign the tortillas were not fried a little before rolling). They were also cold and the sauce had no flavor. They also forgot one of our main dishes. The chips are homemade, which is nice. But the green salsa was flavorless in my opinion. The BRC's were really good as was the side order of rice. Finally, they didn't include any napkins or utensils with our order.

best Birria tacos! Skip the queso birria (sorry america its a heart attack waiting to happen...) and just get soft tacos with birria. Delicious. some of their other stuff is "eh." but the Birria is top notch

Stopped here to grab a quick bite to eat with some co-workers. This place had great food. We had the Quesabirria, Flauta, and a steak burrito. My co-worker stated that the quesabirria was one of the best he has had. It was very flavorful, the meat was tender and on point. The flautas were very good nice and crunchy. The steak burrito was super yummy. The steak was nice and tender and flavorful. We will be returning when we are back in the area.

The food is GREAT! Authentic Mexican cuisine, service was excellent and the ambience is awesome.

The actual menu. All 3 meats are included in the mega nachos.

Red salsa for $10 was not salsa! More like enchilada sauce. Not okay. Never order it again.

This turned out to be very true. Half the customers seemed to know each other. Anyway, the ambiance is pretty thin. Not much to look at and all the food is served in paper or styrofoam containers. Help yourself to some plastic cutlery if needed. However, the food was very tasty. Certainly above average for a basic Mexican place. I ordered the carnitas plate and a chile relleno à la carte. I like to test Mexican restaurants by trying the chile relleno. That was the best part of the meal. Took a few minutes for my order because the relleno was obviously freshly made. Very well roasted poblano with just a little bite to it. Well breaded, fried, and sauced. Carnitas were very tasty as well. Service was a bit odd as they call your number and then stand there and ask you if you want everything on it and then slap it on top in front of you.

While exploring the nearby businesses of the hotel we were staying at, we decided to stop for an early dinner. The place looked quiet, and even though there were very few patrons, we had a short wait before being seated. (This was the first red flag) The restaurant is structured nicely with an open facing entryway to the street, allowing the sun and breeze to flow. The problem, is that it was difficult to admire the interior of the restaurant without ignoring the noticeable spiderwebs and cobwebs in the ceiling and rafters. If I can see them, then I know they can see them. They do however, have very nice indoor and outdoor patio seating, with several tv's throughout. We were served complimentary chips and salsa shortly after we were seated. The chips were light and crispy. The salsa? Awful. Very thin and runny, with absolutely no flavor. We had to have waited a good ten minutes or so before our drink order was taken. Upon taking our drink order, I also placed an order for chips & guacamole. Our waitress was friendly, but curt. After tasting the salsa I chose to play it safe and went with the chile verde enchiladas, and my wife went with the combo plate with a chicken taco and enchilada. By the time we placed our second drink order it was blatantly obvious that our waitress had completely forgotten about our order of chips and guacamole, which was confirmed when our meal arrived. I will say that the margaritas were outstanding, maybe one of the best I've had. To my surprise, the chile verde enchiladas were actually really good. Nice texture, good flavor. The rice was bland and flavorless, and I'm convinced that the black beans were straight from a can. Lacking both flavor and/or seasoning (They weren't even hot) and equally plain. My wife's meal wasn't any better. The chicken was super dry served on a sad and raw tortilla. The beans...disgusting slop. If I had any doubts about whether MY beans were canned, I had absolutely no doubt about hers. These beans were so undoubtedly canned I'm surprised they didn't still have the impression of the tin can on them. No seasoning, no flavor, and lukewarm at best. Enough is enough. I couldn't wait to pay my tab and make a swift exit.

Highly recommended were the butter beef tacos & the fish tacos, which respectively are right up my husband & my preferences. I got a bottle of Tejava- peach was offered as cold & regular was warm, I opted for peach & although it came from the fridge, it was warm. No biggie. Food comes out & visually the fish tacos look like some tex mix version- beans & corn with chunks of grilled fish on top. Husband said they were okay, but the fish kept falling out of the tacos because of all the other fillings & he didn't like their tortillas. The butter beef was..not great. Really greasy, to the point I didn't quite finish the second out of three tacos. Tried to soak up some of it with a napkins to no avail. & agree with hubby, tortillas not great. The best of the night was the potatoe tacos- crispy shells with smooth potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes & cheese. Guacamole on the side was good. Don't think we'll be back.
