Huevos Rancheros and Chicken Enchiladas with homemade Horchata
Monica C.

The food was good, we ordered from the breakfast menu. Their house made horchata was one of my favorites, big portion. The service was quick and friendly. There's a nice patio in the back which would be great to sit at during warmer season.

Grilled Chicken Taco Carne Asada Taco & Rice

Dinner was excellent! I had the carne asada and grilled chicken tacos, my husband had the pork verde burrito (wet) and a birria taco--everything was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The food is consistently delicious, and I usually get the chicken flautas but switched it up because I wanted tacos. An ice-cold Corona (now that they have their beer & wine license back) was perfect. On top of the great food, the owners are wonderful people--friendly, personable, and always make you feel welcome. Great food, great portions, and great people!

Chili Verde
Andy R.

I ordered the Chili Verde burrito. The meat was tender. No gristle or fat. Unfortunately, I did not like the chili verde sauce and I had stomach distress in the morning. Whether the two are related I cannot say. I'll have to try the again another day.

La Costa Grill is hands-down the best Mexican food on the Central Coast--bar none--and I say that as a true Mexican food snob.

Very overpriced for a small carne asada burrito. Could have easily been a $5 dollar burrito as opposed to $13.

Fresh warm bread and butter were also provided to start the meal. We got the steamed clams which were absolutely delicious. Done with a classic garlicky white sauce, the clams were fresh with no unpleasant fishy smells or tastes. The seafood pasta is the reason we return to Ada's year after year. There's a huge assortment of seafood included and all of the individual ingredients are well cooked unlike most seafood pastas. The mussels were small and very mild in flavor, almost tasting like clams. A flaky white fish as well as a more meaty fish were also included and weren't overcooked. You order in the front and you take whatever seat you can find. There's also outdoor seating as well, but it does get a little chilly! This is our second visit, and we never had issues with the service. They're very friendly and they help clear the table if it's not that busy. The oysters are really tasty. We usually order 36(?) between the two of us and we finish it every time! The shrimp ceviche is also really tasty, and probably the best in this general area. We ended up ordering the carne tacos this time and it was surprisingly really flavorful!! I took one look at it and I thought it would be really bland, but it was nicely seasoned and the meat was moist and soft. Can't wait to come back!

Not the best but a solid chowder. My husband had the halibut tacos which he rated a 10. We also had garlic fries very good! Not a big place for alcohol drinks. They did have some beer and not great wine options. I would suggest they get more options for the wine for sure or offer seltzers or cider. Only reason Im giving a 4 I was so hoping they would have better wine after our drive. The servers are awesome and very friendly .

We ordered fish & chips, and a burger for my son. The fish was inedible. It was not properly cleaned, and was tough and stale. Like fish jerky. I ordered a 2pc, mom ordered a 3pc. I picked at one piece, and my mom ate half of a piece. When the server came around I showed him that the silver skin was still there, and that the fish was like jerky, it was like it had been cooked for the lunch crowd then sat under a hot lamp for a few hours. He did apologize, which I appreciated,(food quality has nothing to do with wait staff) then left the table. He came back and offered us more fish! Uh, no thank you. He brought me the check, 112$ for inedible food and assurance that the cook was notified, and would talk to the owner?? It would have been appropriate for them to offer a discount or refund for the food not eaten, even the fries were bad, old. I've been to this location several times and it was always good. I brought my family, because it was a good restaurant. I'm so disappointed and won't be back.

As soon as I walked in, I was mesmerized by the refrigerator row of wine/champaign bottles. The bar area is well decorated with a dark background and small lights to emulate a dark starry night. Their service was not good in our L.A.-opinionated minds. Yes, we were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. We waited maybe 20 minutes before someone eventually came to take our order. Mind you, the whole time we were ready to order, the waitress who seated us was walking back and forth, setting up tables around us. She clearly saw that we were ready to order but didn't even offer to take our orders or get another staff who could. This is a place to come to if you are NOT in a hurry and are here to simply chill and take life SLOCAL style. The food here seems like a fusion between American and Mediterranean style. 1. Octopus Appetizer (4.5/5) Large octopus tentacles served with a combination of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, roasted peppers) toasted with garlic and olive oil. The vegetables and octopus were all cooked very well. The octopus was fresh and melts in your mouth. 2. Grilled Asparagus (2.5/5) Large asparagus that's seasoned lightly, but it was not cooked correctly. It had a very stringy-fibery texture. 3. Philly cheesesteak (2/5) The hoagie bread was grocery store quality at best. We were sad that it wasn't even toasted or warmed up, so ended up ditching the bread/bun and just ate the inside. The cheese was at least nicely melted. The onion and bell peppers were fresh, but the steak was "meh." Definitely not quality beef. The beef itself was also not seasoned enough, so was bland and dry. 4. Onion rings (5/5) Fried to perfection. Loved that the onions were fresh and it was easy to pull apart with each bite. The aioli sauce that its served with is plain and bland though. 5. Crab cake (4/5): Crabby patty anyone? All I tasted was fried Panko batter. Wish the patty itself had more flavor and spice. The garlic aioli sauce that came with it though was good. 6. Dr. Marquis Salad (4/5): Fresh spring mix lettuce topped with ground beef and crispy bacon, tomato, sliced avocado and tossed with their house-made olive oil, salt and pepper dressing. Overall, it was a hearty salad with plentiful flavor. It was just a bit weird to have ground beef in salad, but I guess that's what makes this salad dish unique
