Actually kinda a problem b/c sometimes I just can't decide what to get... but usually I just revert to one of my top 3 to make it easy. Mornings, the breakfast burrito is the best in south county, possibly the whole county. If you like tots, the breakfast tots are mind blowing good. Lunch, basically every single sandwich, wrap, and salad is phenomenal. I usually revert to a fire burger, but the western crispy chicken is pretty amazing. Order fries w/ anything, b/c they're the best in the county... might even be better than that chain place with the cow mascot ;) Also a family owned and run business, so that's a massive plus in my book. Came here on the morning of my 50th birthday with my sister who was visiting from out of state. The breakfast burrito was hands down the BEST breakfast burrito I've EVER had!!! The staff was kind and even wished me happy birthday (my birthday headband my sister made me wear gave it away!) We even enjoyed a lovely chat with one of their local regulars! The owner reached out stating it was not bacon but egg and asked me to remove the review. Note bacon pieces on side of photo. It is 100% bacon. I also had some in a bite I took, and it's bacon. Again, I like the restaurant but something happened here and as a vegetarian, I would want to know. Honestly just take responsibility, it happens. Sidewalk Cafe is such a fitting name for this restaurant! There is a ramp if you have a stroller or wheelchair, or you can just use the steps to do a small climb up to the restaurant from the sidewalk. I've only ever had breakfast here and I'm never disappointed. This time I ordered the vegetarian breakfast burrito. They always halved them, which is so esthetically pleasing to me because they make clean cuts. They also have lunch entrees that sound very delicious. Along a wall is a cooler with craft beer and other drink options. I like that my voice slightly echoes in here when I sit inside. It almost makes me want to start singing, which I didn't. One of the most delicious breakfast burritos I have tried on the central coast. The salsa was bright and fresh while the contents of the burritos were nice and hot. Sometimes they can be on the dry side but it was not the case here! My husband enjoyed the seafood sandwich. The bread was nice and toasted. Wow! If I could only say one thing is WOW. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was served to me with care. The outside patio was well maintained and the weather was perfect for it. The cook was killer, there always was a worker tidying things up, and I was treated with a very friendly attitude from the staff. Stopped by this little spot on the way back from a hike with the family. The wife ordered me a pastrami ruben (i am still the 805's pastrami king) so she knew what to get me. It was great, but not the best i ever had. More of a sauce and kraut sandwich. But the pastrami that was on there was very tender and tasty. The service was great, the outside seating was a little rickety. With 3 people at our table it was a little cramped and the table was not the most sturdy thing in the world, but we made it work. Came here twice and was impressed. We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which I thought was very tasty. I would have rated it 5 stars if it had more veggies and if the bread had been more toasted. The second time, sandwich was still tasty though I didn't get the pickle that was supposed to come with it. Their fries were excellent, crispy and light and not oily. 5 stars for the fries. I liked this cafe better than some of the bigger ones in the area, and I felt they had a lot of fresh veggies and fruit. My favorite there is the breakfast muffin where the value is actually great for what you get so that's the only thing I order there and I think it's the best thing on the menu and keeps me coming back! Very tasty food! I had a difficult time choosing what to eat as the menu has a variety of options from salads and wraps to burgers and sandwiches. I finally decided to try the tri-tip sandwich with fries. It was sliced thin and juicy, almost like a roast beef sandwich (I thought it'd be good with au-jus to dip) and a sweet bar b que sauce. It also had a side of salsa. It was very tender and easy to eat. The fries seemed to almost have a batter on them as they were very crisp and seasoned well. I sat on the Patio as it was both a nice day and indoor seating is almost non-existent (hence the name Sidewalk Cafe). The Patio is cozy and utilizes umbrellas for shade. I've seen this cafe hundreds of times as I've driven through the village, but this was my first visit. They have good outdoor dining options which is what I was looking for. I ordered the tri-tip Cobb salad with Caesar dressing. Um....apparently it is a Caesar vinaigrette rather than a regular creamy Caesar. I added some ranch to give it a creamy texture. But the salad was amazing. Every bite of salad had a bite of tritip with it. And for me that's the key to a good salad that has meat in it. Loaded with bacon and cherry tomatoes too. Really enjoyed it. Their fries are some of the best we've ever had. My son said they're now his favorite. Tri-tip sandwich was loaded with tri-tip and worth the $12. Great kid-friendly casual spot to grab lunch in the village. The staff is very friendly. I appreciated the fact that they have a ton of chalk out for kids to "decorate the sidewalk." I'm not sure if it's something I didn't notice when they first opened or a newer thing but such a nice gesture to indicate that families are welcome and keep the busy bodies occupied while their parents eat! The largest reason I come to this cafe over other lunch spots is that, as I stated above, I can essentially make two meals out of one. Since 2022, the portions have decreased, and understandably so, considering inflation. However, as that was the primary reason I went to the cafe, I don't see myself returning as much anymore. $16 for a salad is a lot, especially for a little neighborhood cafe. I'd still recommend the fries and I enjoy the soup, but just be aware that the portions mentioned before have severely decreased (probably by half or a bit less than half). read more
