I called in the order at 5:15 pm and it was ready by 5:45 as promised. My husband had a chicken sandwich on a fresh French roll, plenty of grilled chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, lots of great ingredients & very substantial for my big eater. Just when I was trying to stop being so liberal with my 5 star reviews we stop in on this place... boars head meats and cheeses (the best!!) you can choose from a huge menu of sandwiches or have it custom made. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try on our way to the beach. It's a small local place, and the food was great. It wasn't cheap but I think it was worth it. I suggest getting your food to go and eating down the street at the beach if the weather is decent. There are not a lot of independent sub sandwich spots in the Five Cities but we've found our place! Dune Side Deli in Oceano made us two incredible sandwiches with fresh bread, ample meat, and customized them to our particular tastes. My turkey was not the pressed meat you get at some places. It was "real" flavorful turkey. They will mix the veggies in with your tuna or separate (onions, celery, peppers). The staff was friendly and helpful and gave us suggestions for substitutes. There are tables to sit and enjoy your meal but it is just blocks from the beach so that's where we went to enjoy our sandwiches. We will return here many times I'm sure! read more

I came in was greeted immediately, and when I told him it was my first time in the gentleman behind the counter, took the time to show me the menu and what they offered. It was amazing. I decided to choose a build your own sandwich. You grab a slip off the counter and fill it out. They have one slip for a traditional, build your own, and another one if you want a veggie option to build your own I chose the regular and I ended up getting a turkey sandwich. I grabbed a bag of chips and a drink and paid right at the counter. I went and sat down at a table and waited for my order. As I was there, I noticed that the establishment itself was very clean and well organized. They do have a bathroom, but you need to ask the employees for the code to use it. I also noticed that this place is very popular for pick up orders. There were so many people coming in and picking up orders to go. In a very short amount of time, my sandwich was ready. I picked it up and my goodness for the price. It is great value. All the ingredients were fresh and my sandwich tasted delicious. They have a great variety of chips and drink offerings from your traditional chips all the way to some brands you might not normally see. I highly recommend this place whether you're just calling an order and picking up before you head off to the beach or if you're coming to dine in. Next, we debated whether to choose one of their suggested sandwiches or build our own, and in the end, we both opted for the build-your-own option. The customization choices for sandwiches are easily one of my favorite things about this place. You get to choose everything at this place. From the bread, meat, cheese, veggies, condiments, whether or not to have it panini-pressed, cut in half, and so much more. The variety of extras and fresh veggies is unmatched. To top it off, they have an impressive drink selection to complement their diverse sandwich menu and chip selections. I ordered oven-gold roasted turkey on a soft, untoasted French roll with provolone and yellow cheddar, mayo, yellow mustard, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, avocado, bacon, and a pickle spear. I paired it with jalapeño kettle chips and a Mexican Coke. It was exactly what I was looking for, but I am already looking forward to going back and trying a different sandwich, pairing it with the crinkle-cut dill potato chips, and enjoying a tea of some kind. The other sandwich ordered was just as great. It was made on a sourdough roll with mayonnaise, yellow mustard, green leaf lettuce, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, a pickle spear, salt, pepper, pepper jack and Muenster cheeses, olives, pepperoncini, mesquite-smoked turkey, and Bianco D'Oro salami. Giving this place 4 stars but it really deserves 3.5 stars, and i'm saying this because of the consistency.. this is a GRREATTT sandwich spot, and i love it, everything on the menu is great and the ingredients taste fresh as if they were cut that same day. however, my go-to sandwich here is the spicy snow plover and even though it is great, there are VARYING inconsistencies. I just don't appreciate how one day i can get a full sandwich and other days it's the thinnest slices of meat in between bread .. if it were actually consistent and i were to get the same sandwich every time, i would have a better review.
