Our first time though I've driven by multiple times. I got a Turkey Club, husband did a build your own. Very tasty and fresh. First time at Dune Side Deli and was extremely happy we gave it a shot! My wife had the Pepper Jack Pastrami and I had the Turkey Club and some chips.I also had a sample of the macaroni salad and the potato salad so I would know which one to order next time, and we will be going back. Sandwiches were large enough to bring 1/2 home for later so portions were generous. My sandwich was very delicious and my wife loved her Pastrami. Nice location around the bend from the Melodrama Theater so stopped at the fruit and veggie stand across from the Melodrama and picked up the homemade salsa and chips that are addictive. Avocado's are some of the best I've ever had from there as well! All in all a nice little outing we had. Can't wait to get back to our little Deli again. Great job y'all!!! I consider myself a pastrami connoisseur. I've had pastrami Sammie's all over this country. So I know what I'm talkin about. To be honest though? Kinda small and light weight. When I picked up the sandwich wrapped off the counter it was noticeably "light" . U know when u pick up a sandwich with some heft to it. This wasn't that . It's like they're on purpose using really small pieces of bread . When it was cut in half it was just this little half Sammy u could eat in like 3-4 bites . Again. It tasted good. Just small portions I could eat three of these full sandwiches and not be full I guarantee it Would I come back? Sure if I was in the area in Oceano . Wouldn't make a special trip . Nice shop. I would definitely order the Italian trio again. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly. It does take a minute to get your food, this is not Subway.. This is not my kind of place as the sandwich is so thick with meats that I can't get a bite. My jaw does not unhinge. I did notice most of the customers were big burly bluecollar men that LOVE that kind of thing. For me, all of the meats were processed, and it has been in the news that this will (not can) cause cancer. The cheese is American therefore not cheese. The avocado spread was simply divine. The size was large, I had to take 1/2 home. They got 5 stars from me as the manager was superb and just because it doesn't fit my personal preferences does not mean it is bad. First time trying this new sandwich shop and we were not disappointed! I did the build your own turkey and really liked it. I will make a couple tweaks next time to make it perfection. Hubby tried the 4X4 grilled cheese. He inhaled it before I could get a picture lol. And we got our son who hates everything the regular grilled cheese. He actually ate half of it and said "Not bad". We got the Italian trio which comes on the French roll and a custom turkey sandwich on a sourdough baguette. The French roll is definitely the way to go as the sourdough was a bit dry and wasn't crunchy on the outside like the French roll. I also wish they had a water refill station instead of having to buy bottled water. Other than that it was a great experience and we'll definitely be back. We were able to sit outside with our dog and there's indoor seating as well. The sandwiches had a great ratio of meat and condiments. The Italian had arugula which I really liked. read more
