Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try on our way to the beach. It's a small local place, and the food was great. It wasn't cheap but I think it was worth it. I suggest getting your food to go and eating down the street at the beach if the weather is decent. The view from the actual deli is a small parking lot, street, and not a great scene across the street. Service was excellent. My daughter and I shared one sandwich because it was large. My son ordered the large chili and almost finished it.

Good sandwiches at good prices. We arrived at 10:55 AM & they already had people waiting outside - they looked like locals who knew the shop opens at 11 AM. Friendly & quick service. I enjoyed my caprese sandwich as it had plenty of tomatoes, arugula, basil & balsamic dressing. It maybhave had pesto on it too as the sandwish was very fragrant when I bit into it. Hubby got italian trio & enjoyed it thoroughly. He said it was one of the best italian sandwiches he's had. When we are in the neighborhood in the future, we will definitely stop by again.

The sandwiches here are great portioned, taste good with fresh ingredients, and the service is friendly! I got a ham and cheese sandwich and it was the best ham and cheese sandwich I ever had from a shop! You can order from the ordering machine and they will bring the food out. Most people order ahead of time and then come pick it up it seems. That is the smart way to do it. The place has a few seats inside and the outside area has a few more. It's a small shop, but busy!

Food for the price was great, I'd definitely come back and the staff were friendly. A welcoming albeit small eating interior and exterior. Definitely beats out a lot of the eating places closer to the ocean strip!

There are not a lot of independent sub sandwich spots in the Five Cities but we've found our place! Dune Side Deli in Oceano made us two incredible sandwiches with fresh bread, ample meat, and customized them to our particular tastes. My turkey was not the pressed meat you get at some places. It was "real" flavorful turkey. They will mix the veggies in with your tuna or separate (onions, celery, peppers). The staff was friendly and helpful and gave us suggestions for substitutes. There are tables to sit and enjoy your meal but it is just blocks from the beach so that's where we went to enjoy our sandwiches. We will return here many times I'm sure!

The sandwiches here were perfect. I got the pastrami Reuben. The sand which had plenty of sauce and every bite was just so enjoyable. 100/10 experience for sure. The people who were working were very attentive and made sure we got the help we needed. We went on a warm day, thankfully there was AC inside.

Wow, I mean wow. This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it. I came in was greeted immediately, and when I told him it was my first time in the gentleman behind the counter, took the time to show me the menu and what they offered. It was amazing. I decided to choose a build your own sandwich. You grab a slip off the counter and fill it out. They have one slip for a traditional, build your own, and another one if you want a veggie option to build your own I chose the regular and I ended up getting a turkey sandwich. I grabbed a bag of chips and a drink and paid right at the counter. I went and sat down at a table and waited for my order. As I was there, I noticed that the establishment itself was very clean and well organized. They do have a bathroom, but you need to ask the employees for the code to use it. I also noticed that this place is very popular for pick up orders. There were so many people coming in and picking up orders to go. In a very short amount of time, my sandwich was ready. I picked it up and my goodness for the price. It is great value. All the ingredients were fresh and my sandwich tasted delicious. They have a great variety of chips and drink offerings from your traditional chips all the way to some brands you might not normally see. I highly recommend this place whether you're just calling an order and picking up before you head off to the beach or if you're coming to dine in. There's limited seating inside, but they also have some patio seating outside as well which is also limited.

It's amazing there isn't a line all the way out to the parking lot for this place. Excellent choice of deli sandwiches and burgers. They even have vegetarian options and meat options with separate menus for sandwiches. Have a great selection of chips. They have some great desserts and they serve beer. What's not to like?! It's very clean and well organized and priced well.

This is the best sandwich i have had in all of California. I was just blown away by the quality and taste of this deli. Absulotely superior. Did a order pick up and got the Turkey Club and the sandwich cost $14 bucks. When I arrived it was ready to go which is awesome. For the price and portion that you get, so worth it. This sandwich was huge! Easily can be split between two people. The sandwich was honest just too notch. Turkey was shaved thin and tasted great. 10/10 sandwich. We got the Italian trio which comes on the French roll and a custom turkey sandwich on a sourdough baguette. The French roll is definitely the way to go as the sourdough was a bit dry and wasn't crunchy on the outside like the French roll. I also wish they had a water refill station instead of having to buy bottled water. Other than that it was a great experience and we'll definitely be back. We were able to sit outside with our dog and there's indoor seating as well. The sandwiches had a great ratio of meat and condiments. The Italian had arugula which I really liked. read more

Pros: * good location in an otherwise dining desert area, * good selection of sandwiches and the ability to customize, and * fresh ingredients. Cons: * often slow service and seeming difficulty in staff leveling or anticipating demand, * lack of dense and crusty rolls or baguettes such as whole wheat, crusty sourdough, and Dutch crunch. All of their bread options of soft and light, and * no tap water option (you need to spend $2-3 just for a bottle of water). Overall, good food and location, but sometimes an extended wait and a lack of hearty bread rolls. read more

Great selection of sandwiches and salads. I had the Roast Beef BBQ with bbq sauce on the side. They serve Boars Head products and slice the meats to order. The sandwich was served on whole grain bread with fresh lettuce, sliced tomatoes and red onion. Of course you can customize. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly. You can order online. All their deli food is soooo good. The Pastrami Reuben is amazing! The only deli in the area that asks if you want your bread lightly or fully toasted, and you get what you asked for. We love that there is so much variety. They give you so many wonderful options for every sandwich that each one is custom to your liking. Soups are good too. The place is clean, service is efficient and friendly. We like Ca Fresh and Urbane Cafe too, but Dune Side Is the best. I'm so happy we found this place. read more

Customer service was so refreshing to have someone eager to help, so attentive, welcoming and address questions. Then the sandwich we spilt ~ Rueben was delish ~ lots of meat along with our side Italian Pasta salad. Perfectly cooked pasta with fresh veggies and tangy dressing. Rad new deli spot. Try the snowy plover or the turkey club. They put a lot of heart into their sandwiches and it's a great value and worth the drive if you're in the Pismo to Nipomo areas. Omg. Potato salad was so bomb. First time stopping by here but in the 8 months I've lived on the coast I've been super disappointed in deli or sandwich options I've come across so far until today. I'm not sure I'll bother to try another deli in town unless someone very credible with a history of good life decisions recommends I reluctantly try another place. My theory that has yet to be unproven, is that when you sit down at any Mexican restaurant in America, if the chips and salsa suck then everything else is going to suck as well. For a delicatessen, a Reuben is the exact same indicator of everything else on the menu. If they can't make a decent Reuben, I'll never go back willingly. Their Reuben, after 40 years trying different ones all over the country, is easily in the top 5 Reuben sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Holy crap. I want to try the other stuff I saw on the menu but I'm most likely going to get the Reuben for a while. Sorry I forgot to take pics but I forgot while I was shoveling it down my gullet. read more

Oh my gosh! Was driving through and wanted a really good sandwich. I saw this place on Yelp, and started driving towards it, going further away from the highway than I wanted but oh my goodness, so glad I stopped here! The service was very nice, (clean bathroom), but the food was delicious! I ordered a turkey and ham with cheese on a super soft French roll. It was absolutely perfect, over an inch of meat in some places, only ate half of the sandwich. I will definitely be going back when visiting this area! Pricing was actually better than I expected for such a large sandwich. read more

Both of us couldn't get enough of this. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. We had everything we needed and never needed to flag her down for anything. Dune side Deli - A Hidden Gem by the Shore! I stopped by this cozy sandwich shop near the beach and was blown away by how delicious everything was. I ordered a loaded grilled cheese sandwich and an Italian sandwich, and both were absolutely fantastic. The grilled cheese was perfectly toasted with a generous amount of gooey cheese, while the Italian sandwich was packed with fresh meats and toppings, all on soft, flavorful bread. On top of that, the prices were surprisingly fair, especially for a spot so close to the beach!
