Our first time eating here. I ordered a bean tostada for myself, two street tacos for my husband, and a chili verde burrito to share. I was brought a plate with two crispy corn tortillas, with a spoon of refried beans on top. The tortillas were perfectly prepared and the beans were tasty, but a little shredded, a sprinkle of chopped tomatoes, and some cheese would have made a normal tostada. The chili verde burrito was a little weird. The meat was very good, but the chilis were a little hot, and the burrito was riddled with finely chopped onions. I hate onions. Never had them in a chili verde burrito before. Husbands street tacos were enjoyed. Won't be back, but I wish them well. read more

Holy cow! I came here for the "Taco Tuesday" $1.99 tacos and they were amazing! Even though the place was packed they got my food to me pretty quickly. I got 1 asada, 1 carnitas, 1 el pastor, 1 chicken, 1 birria and a corona of course! Each one of the tacos were delicious! Served hot and fresh! The places was packed and it was a little loud, but what do you expect?! Great delicious tacos and at a great price! I will definitely be back! read more

Always a must whenever in Grover! They have a such a wide menu selection of dishes and meat choices. I have always been met with friendly speedy service. Seating has never been a problem for me when dining in. I tried their fried chimichanga this past visit, and it definitely hit the spot! The outer shell was perfectly fried and crispy for my liking. They even provided red and green salsas for my takeout meal. In the past, their asada tacos have also been pretty satisfying. Highly recommend Efren's for some solid Mexican food in the Central Coast area! read more

The food here is sooo good I got the combo plate with 2 chicken enchiladas & 1 flauta. Very filling & yummy! The rice and beans pair it perfectly. Agua de Horchata is super good too and not a premade mix! Service was 10/10 & the staff is very friendly. The location is nice as it has a parking spot as well as plenty street parking, perfect for dine in with a nice/chill ambiance or takeout! Will continue to come back! read more

Found this Mexican restaurant by accident. Decided to try it out as it looked like a lot of locals ate here. Always a good sign. Seated and given menus right away. Waitresses were very friendly and helpful when we had questions. Order at the front of the restaurant. Food came pretty quickly and looked and tasted delicious. I had one shrimp street taco and my husband had the carne asada omelet. In the picture of my taco, my husband put the avocado on it. It didn't come that way. The mural painted on the wall was so well done and fun to look at. When we are back in Oceano, we will definitely come by here again. read more

Efrens in Oceano is a delightful restaurant with booths and tables for a sit down meal. Super yummy food with really great prices. My boyfriend got a Jumbo Wet burrito and it was so huge! He had leftovers which doesn't happen often haha. I just decided to get a single taco and oh boy that was even filling for me believe or not! They loaded it with meat and onion and put a yummy spicy salsa on it. So delicious! We decided to get take out, and from that the service seemed nice. The food took a bit but they had other people there was well. Inside there's a cute little space with a good amount of tables to sit down if you want. Overall I liked it and I would like to try more of their food! Lots of options too. read more

Grabbed takeout before hitting the beach and so glad we did. The Nachos bomb! Camarones a la Diabla bomb! I love their food! Perfect customer service. The young lady who took our order was sharp. She was serving all the customers on her own. One thing I'd like to request from the owner is fixing their tipping system. Selected the tip option, but would not allow me to punch in an amount. I could not leave a tip unfortunately using my credit card. No cash at hand. Sad. read more

After long travel day we were all very hungry and wanted Mexican. We ordered DoorDash from Efren's based on selection and Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the results. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas (pictured). They were covered in shredded lettuce and the corn tortilla was very soggy (sign the tortillas were not fried a little before rolling). They were also cold and the sauce had no flavor. They also forgot one of our main dishes. The chips are homemade, which is nice. But the green salsa was flavorless in my opinion. The BRC's were really good as was the side order of rice. Finally, they didn't include any napkins or utensils with our order. read more

Stopped here to grab a quick bite to eat with some co-workers. This place had great food. We had the Quesabirria, Flauta, and a steak burrito. My co-worker stated that the quesabirria was one of the best he has had. It was very flavorful, the meat was tender and on point. The flautas were very good nice and crunchy. The steak burrito was super yummy. The steak was nice and tender and flavorful. We will be returning when we are back in the area. read more

This was our first time here. Food was excellent and the people working there were super nice. Nice set up. You order form the register and they have a very nice dining room where they bring you the food. This go around I had a carne asada taco ( meat was really good ) and a Hard Chicken taco. Both were excellent and both salsas were very good and had tons of flavor. Looking forward to going back and trying some other things. Horrible customer service!! I don't think the employees know the menu. I called in on Super Bowl Sunday for the Mega Nachos to go. The girl repeatedly asked me what kind of meat I wanted. When I tried to explain that on the menu it says it already comes with 3 meats she still didn't understand. I asked to speak to someone else and she hung up on me. Called back and immediately got put on hold for a couple minutes. Then she got back on the line with me and did the exact same thing. When I told her it already comes with 3 meats for $12.99 on the menu she just kept asking " but what kind of meat do you want?" I said it comes with 3 meats already for $12.99 then I listed all the 3 meats it says it comes with on the menu and she tried to charge me extra and said it was $17. I told her no that was too much and hung up. This is not even the first time this has happened, but it is the first and last time I have been unsuccessful in ordering the mega nachos because of the staff incompetency. The employees need to know the menu if they are going to be taking to go orders on the phone. read more

Five stars all the way! I recently moved to oceano and holy crap, this place is sooooo good. All of our friends from out of town LOVE this place and so do I! The micheladas are so fantastic! The shrimp are perfect, and my friend from fresno, which is know for having some of the best authentic mexican food this side of tijuana, said she had the best chili verde chimmychanga she has EVER HAD! (Review based on 3.5 stars) Efren's Deli is located across the street from a small church and also diagonally across from Sylvesters Burgers with (free) street parking available. There is one small table (covered) outside in the back in case you wish to dine with your four legged friend. Please note that there is a special door for to go orders, although you can also make to go orders at the restaurant as well. There is also a small counter outside with some counter seating if you want to eat your item there but it isn't the best set up. Anyways, my husband and I came here on a Monday afternoon around 12:45 pm. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere. The place was empty for the most part (not surprised since it was a non holiday Monday). We were brought menus and ended up ordering: Enchiladas Combo, $11.99 prior to tax- This combination comes with 3 small enchiladas, with your choice of meat. I picked chicken. This meal also comes with rice, beans and a beverage. A pretty filling meal and perfect for one person. There was also a pile of lettuce and cheese on top of the enchiladas (like a salad?). I thought that 3 enchiladas would be too much food, but they were small and filled on the thin side. I liked the filling. Torta Efren's, $8.50 prior to tax- This sandwich comes with asada, carnitas and pastor, in addition to beans, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, onions and jalapenos. Definitely a messy sandwich, with all that is packed into it. But it was tasty. ------------------------ (Total= $21.98 after tax, prior to tip) Now the total would have been the price above, however we were charged for our beverage, even though my enchiladas combo comes with rice, beans and a drink. Our server said the drink my husband picked is not part of the free drink choice (which we did not know and since she took our order down, we assumed it was part of it). So the employee ringing my husband up said she will just charge the difference for the beverage. Because it was the employee's error, she really should have just given us the drink for free. Service was fine, as our server did check back with us at least once during our meal. I liked the mural paintings on the walls, with so much attention to detail and expression in them. Restrooms are located right by the register. read more
