This place was great! Needs better rating! Sat on the patio on a nice day. Service was great. Food, excellent. Partner ordered the three item plate. Chili relleno, chicken taco, cheese enchilada. He loved each item. I ordered the wet chicoe burrito and loved it. Chips and salsa were great. Def will come back!

Fun stop for lunch in Oceano. The menu had several options ranging from lunch combos to other combinations that were on the regular menu. In addition to all of the food options available, they had an extensive bar menu and lots of desserts to choose from. The parking was easy and the seating was great for couples and families with a very relaxing ambiance. Overall great experience for anyone looking for somewhere in Oceano to try.

Old Juan's Cantina is a solid spot. I got the fish tacos and a mango margarita, both of which were decent, but didn't blow me away. It's a reliable option if you're craving Mexican food in the area

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant and both my husband and I usually get the Carnitas, with black beans, he gets flour and I get corn tortillas. Love the chips and salsa, I also pour the red over my carnitas. We shared a Cadillac Margarita. It was not very strong and I like it when they give you the Grand Marnier to pour in yourself. Not sure there was as even in it, $20. Service was great, Nicole was our server. We sat in the bar at a small table as it was a little quieter. Also, we hadn't left leftovers so that's great for another meal.

Service was good, our host Genesis was very kind and same for our server Shelby! Food was good and at a good price. 10/10 will be back :)

My family east at this establishment many, many times. For the first time in a little disappointed. Ordered a large Albondigas soup. Flavor is great, but it only came with 3 meat balls. I'm wondering if to got a bowel of soup, would I have got 2 meat balls? Or a cup is soup, just 1 meat ball? Really seems like it should have more?

The food was so delicious. For someone that grew up in Mexico this brought me back to Baja! Definitely coming back.

Good sized parking lot, we went around 4:00 in the afternoon, this place was packed! We were able to be seated right away , I love when the music sets the atmosphere. The servers are very friendly our drinks came quickly and stayed full even though the place was packed , The food was pretty good , in this area I bet it's the best . The freshness and taste were good , does anyone make homemade tortillas anymore? By the time we left there were 20 people waiting to get inside, if your in the area , it's pretty good food, recommend

Food: 3.75. Came by on a Saturday just after 1 pm. This is a nice sized place with multiple dining areas, indoors and outdoors. Place was moderately busy when we arrived. We were greeted upon entering and shown to a table. Chips and two types of salsa (red and green) were brought to our table. Chips were very crispy, not crunchy, which I prefer. Salsa was mild and fine. I chose one of their specialties (name and description of which were in a box in the menu). I ordered their carnitas with corn tortillas. We also ordered a liter of regular margaritas. Food and drinks were brought to our table timely and at the right temperature. Margaritas were very good and hit the spot after a long hike. Carnitas were very good but portion was on the small side which matched the price. Flour instead of corn tortillas were provided but staff brought me corn upon request. I prefer more of the crispy/crunchy bits. Staff was very friendly and efficient.

Old Juan's Cantina in Oceano...never been, so first time review and it was for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. To start...there was plenty of parking available, so no worries there. Entering the Cantina...we thought the ambience was really nice. Reminded us of another "themed" Mexican Restaurant in Las Vegas (Pancho's - Summerlin Cntr.) just not as "fancy". Nevertheless the atmosphere has "a likable/colorful flavor". The Buffet was already up and running when we arrived, so before we decided to actually partake we were able to "view the offerings ". It looked very reasonable and we decided "to pull the trigger" so to speak. Our Server was Shelby. She was really quite pleasant and stopped by the table several times during our meal. Before starting the buffet we received Chip and Salsa at the table (no charge...unlike some restaurants now a day's...that will ask you if you would like some and then list it as a charge on the ticket...so sneaky!) To start we ordered a Bloody Mary (4/5) to "share". Buffet wise...all the dishes we tried were reasonably good. Although nothing really "stood out" as being OUTSTANDING, we were happy to have tried a taste of every dish and we were definitely satisfied with the taste and seeming quality. I will admit that I was disappointed though, in the fact, that there were only pork and chicken dishes...rather than beef. Perhaps that is a cultural phenomenon...that Mexican restaurant cuisine preparations traditionally use more chicken and pork with some exceptions (fajitas, carne asada, etc.). Regardless my dear Yelp Review Readers, on this occasion...in this Yelper's opinion, Old Juan's Cantina in Oceano provided a "total dining brunch experience "that was more than acceptable, for a reasonable price"...truly earning this "definite recommend for a "fun" Sunday Mexican Buffet" 4 Star review.

I have eaten here before and it was always decent. Called ahead for a group of eight and they accommodated us towards the back. The table was all set up with chips and two types of salsas all the way around. Really happy with that. Our server Nicole was awesome. Easy going and she did a great job handling all of our needs. My son in law had Posole and loved it. He is damn hard to please, so I felt good about that!!!! My wife had the shrimp tacos and enjoyed them. I had the enchilada and tamale combo dinner, and it was good. Beans a little cold but good. My grandson had the two-cheese enchilada dinner and said it was good but not as good as his favorite Mexican restaurant. I had to laugh about that. Oh, he and his little sister loved the Churro Sundae! Loud environment so it's a great place to go if you have young ones with you.

This place was a referral from someone that lives in the area. Also it was literally right next door to where we were staying for the long weekend. There's a decent size patio that was nice as we had our little fluff ball with us. We were the only one outside so it was a little concerning if the waiters would remember about us. Menu wise, there's pretty much everything that you would want at a Mexican restaurant. Started off with some margaritas which was nice. It was serve in a regular water cup versus a margarita glass. Still good and maybe you get more anyways. The chips and salsa that was brought out was really nice. I love that it was thin chips versus the thicker version. Both salsa had a kick to them. One was spicier than the other but really good. I didn't want anything too heavy so opted for the meatball soup and a side of fries. Odd combo but it did the trick. Soup had carrots and zucchini with the meatballs. Honestly it was just ok. Nothing to rave about. I've had it at other Mexicans restaurants that were way better. We also had the enchiladas with rice and refried beans. That was actually pretty tasty and better than the soup. But the fries, that was pretty good as well with the Cajun seasoning on top. Overall, it was ok. Nothing crazy to rave about. Chips and salsa were nice. They also have a happy hour which we found out later.

Had such an amazing time at Old Juan's , this is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants on the Coast! The food was delicious, creative and service was the best. Will definitely be coming back. The chips and Salsa was one of favorite parts it was fresh and salsa had a lot of flavor!

Help yourself to some plastic cutlery if needed. However, the food was very tasty. Certainly above average for a basic Mexican place. I ordered the carnitas plate and a chile relleno à la carte. I like to test Mexican restaurants by trying the chile relleno. That was the best part of the meal. Took a few minutes for my order because the relleno was obviously freshly made. Very well roasted poblano with just a little bite to it. Well breaded, fried, and sauced. Carnitas were very tasty as well. Service was a bit odd as they call your number and then stand there and ask you if you want everything on it and then slap it on top in front of you.

While exploring the nearby businesses of the hotel we were staying at, we decided to stop for an early dinner. The place looked quiet, and even though there were very few patrons, we had a short wait before being seated. (This was the first red flag) The restaurant is structured nicely with an open facing entryway to the street, allowing the sun and breeze to flow. The problem, is that it was difficult to admire the interior of the restaurant without ignoring the noticeable spiderwebs and cobwebs in the ceiling and rafters. If I can see them, then I know they can see them. They do however, have very nice indoor and outdoor patio seating, with several tv's throughout. We were served complimentary chips and salsa shortly after we were seated. The chips were light and crispy. The salsa? Awful. Very thin and runny, with absolutely no flavor. We had to have waited a good ten minutes or so before our drink order was taken. Upon taking our drink order, I also placed an order for chips & guacamole. Our waitress was friendly, but curt. After tasting the salsa I chose to play it safe and went with the chile verde enchiladas, and my wife went with the combo plate with a chicken taco and enchilada. By the time we placed our second drink order it was blatantly obvious that our waitress had completely forgotten about our order of chips and guacamole, which was confirmed when our meal arrived. I will say that the margaritas were outstanding, maybe one of the best I've had. To my surprise, the chile verde enchiladas were actually really good. Nice texture, good flavor. The rice was bland and flavorless, and I'm convinced that the black beans were straight from a can. Lacking both flavor and/or seasoning (They weren't even hot) and equally plain. My wife's meal wasn't any better. The chicken was super dry served on a sad and raw tortilla. The beans...disgusting slop. If I had any doubts about whether MY beans were canned, I had absolutely no doubt about hers. These beans were so undoubtedly canned I'm surprised they didn't still have the impression of the tin can on them. No seasoning, no flavor, and lukewarm at best. Enough is enough. I couldn't wait to pay my tab and make a swift exit.
