Chicken sandwich

Passed by this place and decided to go in since my friends and I were cold and hungry. As we were waiting, we noticed a black cat that completely threw us off. We soon learned that cats are a thing In Amsterdam (we're from the states). We each ordered something different and none of us were impressed by the food. My friend only ate half of her chicken sandwich, I enjoyed my steak and veggies but it needed more seasoning, and my other friend said she enjoyed her steak Thai salad but the steak was cooked too well as they didn't ask her how she wanted her steak. If visiting again, I wouldn't come back. Staff were nice. Service was slow. Only one cook.

Excellent food, great drinks, cozy and laid back atmosphere. Our party of four had a lovely time here while visiting Amsterdam from the US. Staff is good spirited and was helpful with our novice tipping questions. I would 100% recommend Staalmeesters to anyone looking for good food, drinks, and a fun time for a decent price. They also have a resident cat (Hank) who is just fantastic and may sit at the bar. Order the Staalmeesters kip sate! SO GOOD.

Visited on recommendation from a local Dutch friend. Has canal view near University of Amsterdam. Had a tap Jupiler beer, open-faced cold chicken sandwich, and bitterballen. Sandwich was pretty good, but bread was a bit difficult to cut into (even with fork/knife) and would've liked some more meat. Bitterballen were on point. Service was friendly but a little slow - got appetizer 20 minutes after the sandwich - but the view made up for it. Bottom Line: Nice patio for a drink and people watching.

Quintessential. Surprised to find pizza, nachos, and ribs. Being from Texas, we were charmed by their versions. Henk is pretty cool.

I came here at around 4:30ish when it was about 90 degrees out. This place is in a very touristy…read morearea, but I wanted an Aperol Spritz and eat some food. There was quite a lot of smokers around, so be prepared for your clothes to smell later. The dutch pea soup I had was somewhat heavy for my liking but it was good. Great location to enjoy the canals.

A beautiful awesome day amazing people of the world. Today were in Amsterdam, Netherlands. My go to…read morerestaurant for Dutch Food has closed down, so I'm going to a new spot. Welcome to Haven Van Texel. Right at the north end of the red light district. A colleague of mine said she goes here for traditional Dutch cuisine, so let's get to the food shall we. Of course we're going to snag an order of the Croquettes. Nice bite size potato mash balls with meat in it. These ones are nice and neat with a perfect delicate crunch. Great balance of potato to meat ratio. 8.2/10 For my main event, the Stamppot. This is a rotating dish that's usually different every time. Whatever protein that's available in the market with seasonal vegetables in the mash. It's like a lovely surprise every time I visit. Today we have pork. Perfectly seasoned, the meat was fall off the bone and the mash was a delightful side. 8.7/10 The place is really nice, the tables outside do go fast during busy hours. The staff was nice enough to let us sit by at the bar so we can enjoy some drinks while we wait. I would definitely smash here again. Ron Gastrobar Downtown was our first real dinner on our recent trip to Amsterdam. My friend is the…read moreone that discovered this restaurant and made the reservations ahead of time, and from the pictures, it looked like a fun place to eat. I was excited. From research, it seems as though Amsterdam is known for having some good Indonesian food, so that was something we made a priority of trying while we were there. Though somewhat pricey, the entertainment, decor, and food here definitely exceeded our expectations. To eat, we had already decided to order the rijsttafel (rice table), which is essentially a variety of small Indonesian dishes. In total, I believe there were about 15 that we were comfortably able to share and enjoy. In addition, we ordered a few street food appetizers, which included the black angus tartare, tacos, and albacore tuna tartare. Overall, I thought the food was pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the street food appetizers, which were presented very uniquely. While I'm glad we tried the rijsttafel for the authentic experience, there were only a few dishes from it that I really enjoyed. Still, I'd recommend ordering it for the experience. It was pretty cool to try so many Indonesian specialties in one meal. If looking for a fun restaurant to dine at in central Amsterdam, Ron Gastrobar is an option you should heavily consider. The ambiance and atmosphere are unrivaled, and you are bound to have a great time. The live performances are very enjoyable. Service was also very accommodating and friendly, and the drinks were superb. Go ahead and check this place out!

We were all waiting for an elevator to the top floor, which was the restaurant. When we got to the top, no one was there but we eventually found someone to show us our table. The sun was a bit bright because it is already summer but it was a beautiful view as it set. We took every recommendation our waiter gave. We started with cocktails from the small menu and tuna tartar and oysters (with apple, green pepper and ginger dressing). I never eat oysters but I loved these. When it was time for the main food, I told our waiter we were interested in the rijstafel. He recommended that we get rijstafel for four and supplement it with the sea bass. Upon further inspection of the menu, we did that, plus the chicken sate, beef sate and wagyu sate. Everything was amazing. There are a couple of entertainment pieces that come with the meal. Mr. Spicy comes around in a red dinner jacket and asks if you want mild, medium or spicy sauce with your meal. We wanted to try one of each. Later on, Mr. Downtown with the cat head came by for a photo. He never put down his glass. In all, the meal was delicious and the cocktails were unique. I look forward to the next experience here.
