The tables were a little small but that might just be my jacket taking up a lot of room. I got set 4 with no substitutes and a hot coffee, which was nothing special but hits the spot. The food, like the others have mentioned, is a bit bland but that's what the ketchup and other condiments are for. I was very full and my parents left satisfied so I would call this a win. I wouldn't make a trek to try this place but if you're in the area for breakfast, I would suggest stopping by in the morning.

Aficionados of "Passport to Pimlico" will recognise the location as being opposite the bombsite at the beginning of the film. They serve a range of traditional English breakfast options, and lunches, which include sandwiches, baked potatoes, and omelettes, as well as fry ups, you can have all day. There are plenty of vegetarian options, but I'm not sure if any are vegan. Service is quick and efficient, and the prices are very reasonable. Some of the serving staff are very pleasant and smiley, others less so. But it remains extremely popular at all times of the day. (NB. They are not open in the evening.)

Michelin star style food.. In a prison? Yep that pretty much sums up The Clink…read more Everything about The Clink from the cooks, waiters, furniture to paintings helps in the rehabilitation of inmates. Food was comparable to any uk celeb chef restaurant and particularly reminded me of food from Jason Atherton's city social but cheaper and well.. in a prison. Our waiter Jamal was super sweet and made sure to make eye contact with both of us. He was happy to answer any questions about his life and even gave us a tour of the kitchen after our meal! Bookings must be made 72 hours in advance with a £30 deposit (for 2 people). Passport ID is required and all electronic devices must be left in a locker before entering the prison/restaurant. On the website it says that you're only allowed to pay by cheque but we couldn't find our cheque books so they agreed to let us pay by cash instead. Two 3 course meals + drinks came up to ~£60 which was reasonable for the quality of food served. It really sucks that there's a no photos allowed policy as the food and restaurant were both stunning. It also super sucks that it's only open mon-fri for lunch as most people have to work then :(

Fine dining where you wouldn't expect it, unless you believe what the Daily Mail has to say about…read morethe lifestyle of a prisoner. Whatever your opinion of the food it's unlikely you will be able to leave without paying here. The "dine and dash" difficulty rating is set to hard. The Clink is a charity funded restaurant initiative set within the prison walls and staffed by inmates for both front and back of house. The prisoners employed here are working towards attaining qualifications in the hospitality industry which can hopefully offer them a route into gainful employment upon their release. The menu and the presentation of the food is of the calibre you would expect from a high end eatery. Our waiter Craig assured me it was considerably better than what they serve on the wings! All the food I had was good, plated well and with distinct flavours which combined amicably to create very enjoyable dishes. I started with pressed game terrine, ciabatta croûte, fruit chutney and baby cress. I followed this with Three Little Pigs: caramelised pork belly, pancetta wrapped pork fillet, black pudding bon bon, mini fondants, shallot purée and apple jus. For dessert I chose spiced poached pear with hot chocolate sauce and vanilla bean ice cream. I'm normally a sucker for photographing my food at restaurants, not here though. Upon arrival you have to leave your phone, camera, keys, chewing gum, aerosols, cash above £50 and anything else they deem inappropriate in a locker outside the prison. You can try sneaking a camera in if you like, but you might end up working here if you do. Craig told me the rate of pay is £10 a week, and they only accept payment by cheque so no tips to top your wages up with. It's probably better just to leave the camera outside. The Clink really creates a bizarre juxtaposition. If you overlook the fact there is no alcohol and you have plastic cutlery you could almost be forgiven for thinking you are eating in a Michelin starred restaurant, until you look through the barred windows at the high walls topped with tight coils of razor wire snaking out of view in every direction. It was great though, unlike anything else I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Our bill was about £25/head including drinks which for the quality of the food was a bargain. I would definitely go again and recommend it to others. Things to note: No under 18s. You must book at least 72 hours in advance. When you apply to book they will ask you for various background information to carry out security checks before clearing you to book, for me this process took a couple of days. You can only pay by cheque (or invoice by prior arrangement). Reservations are Monday to Friday only for breakfast or lunch.

Simple bistro, reasonable price, great service…read more This is my first time in the UK (I'm from Brazil) and I went there to celebrate my birthday (dinner). The menu is small but every dish I saw in mine or other tables looked perfect. My courses came perfect and the staff even put a birthday candle and wrote happy birthday in my dessert plate, which was a lovely surprise. Fernando explained every dish and even gave me some tips to discover London. I am absolutely sure I'll come back there next time I'm in London (I might even get back again before this trip is over).

Chips were alright, green beans were fairly well cooked as well. As for the main entrees, the fish - which came whole, was fresh but lacked any particular "wow this is so great, I'd love to come back" Most of the fair here seemed to be on the heavier side, and represented British cuisine. But to me, British cuisine represents the culture too - so if I really wanted to go out for British food, wouldn't I go to a pub? Especially with the service anyhow. Oh, and the dessert (we got a strawberry tart) -- the strawberries a bit too mushy, the glaze overpowering, and the tart entirely soggy as if someone had left the custard sitting on the tart outside all day.

YUM, this is some of the best food I had in London…read more Though this is only available to ticket holders, I couldn't recommend it more highly. Wine and three courses are included and because I came around Christmas, I also got a Christmas cracker. They time the meal perfectly and you can either come back for dessert during intermission (which I don't think I'd recommend because of the time constraints) or you can have dessert at the end of the meal. Portions aren't too big and the restaurant feels like a swanky theater bar that you can get away to before the show. I tried the filet, the butternut squash veloute and the pistachio creme brulee for dessert - each were flavorful and truly of the highest quality. Couldn't recommend more highly!

It is small and beautifully decked out room with gorgeous chandeliers which really caught my attention. Upon arrival the staff were solicitous and friendly without being overbearing. They took our coats and champagne was immediately offered and gratefully received. The waiters wore white gloves which could be seen as pretentious but I found it quite pleasing. We had a range of starters between us; I had the seared prawns on lentils. The prawns were fine, unremarkable in themselves but the lentils were delicious. I tried the goats cheese starter which was lovely and creamy. Next I had the beef fillet, perfectly cooked and seasoned and exceptional for London. It was accompanied by a tasty potato dauphinois and vegetables. Yum. Then I broke all the rules and went for the crime brûlée and finished nearly all of it by myself. I was supposed to be sharing. Can't say enough good things. Great service throughout by ever present staff; thanks to Imogen our waitress who was endlessly accommodating and smiley. Need to get more tickets to more shows to come back here!
