So, we had our first appointment with Dr. Alan Zastrow this week. Very happy with the service. I'm also impressed with the machines they use here. Both my daughter and I were seen back-to-back and we were done within 1 hour. Dr. Zastrow has a very good bedside manner. Easy to talk to, has a sense of humor, etc. Sadly, they no longer take my insurance so this visit was out of pocket, but it was affordable. And for a yearly visit it's not a big deal that I have to pay. I was also impressed that we got his business card which was laminated and on the back they put our info (prescription strength) and when our next appointment will be. Plus, the office is a 5 minute drive from our house. So, we found our new eye doctor for the future.

If possible, I would give this place a -10 rating…read more I had cataract surgery with Dr. Wong, and unfortunately, I have experienced permanent vision problems since the procedure. I can no longer read small print comfortably at all. Before the surgery, I was told that if I paid extra for special lenses, I would not need reading glasses. However, I still need reading glasses which is so inconvenient. When I brought this up with Dr. Wong, he said he never made that statement and explained that almost all cataract patients need reading glasses. He said my previous Lasik surgery almost 30 years ago was the problem that I do not have a good vision after this surgery. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and the outcome of my surgery. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that patients carefully consider get a second opinion before choosing this practice. I'm so upset for choosing this place.

For those of you…read moreconcerned about how the practice is handling appts, here's the news: Once you make an appt, you get an email with a form to complete and bring with you and a confirmation with instructions for your appt. They are asking you to call once you're in the parking lot. I waited near the door (not hovering over it) and Dr Leggin came out to bring me inside. She took my temp right away, took my form and asked me to use hand sanitizer. I went into the exam room where she explained everything that was disinfected and what was being used. She washed her hands before starting the exam and used hand sanitizer quite frequently. She remained double masked the entire time and took the time to talk through some questions and comments during the appointment. Once done, I checked out with the front desk, which is partially covered with plexiglass except for a small opening to pass through paperwork and payment. The person at the front desk was also masked and there were signs posted about the guidance they're following. My appt was on a Wednesday and my contacts and glasses are expected to arrive the following Monday. Overall, a solid appt. Peace of mind knowing these are the steps being taken for an eye appt. She is not able to see the same volume of patients due to all the extra steps needed. I lucked out getting an appt just a few days from calling. She is dedicating an hour per patient to allow time for those extra steps (disinfecting, taking temp, asking to to use hand sanitizer, etc). Parking is easy as there's a dedicated shared parking lot for the area she's located (behind old man rafferty's).

Terrible Experience - Please Be Careful…read more I had my cataract surgery done here, and it turned into a nightmare. I went in with very high eye pressure, but they still went ahead with my left-eye surgery as scheduled. During surgery, my capsule broke. The surgery center didn't even have the proper lens for the sulcus, so I was left without a lens in my eye for two weeks. Later, they performed another surgery to implant the lens. Unfortunately, due to the trauma from the first failed surgery, my cornea became swollen, followed by consistent inflammation. Six months later, Dr. Kung told me that there were leftover fragments from my natural lens causing infection -- and that I needed a third surgery to remove them. All of this led to corneal edema, loss of vision, ongoing inflammation, and constant pain. After consulting two cornea specialists, both confirmed that the bad cataract surgery caused all of these problems. Now, the only solution left for me is a cornea transplant. I am terrified and deeply regret trusting this place. RUN -- do not risk your eyes or go through the misery I'm experiencing. On top of everything, they ran many tests on their machines and charged me a lot of money throughout this ordeal.

I cannot believe how annoying this is, they didn't even present the entire bill to me at the time of the procedure, which I would've been glad to pay, I never complained about price or payment, but it's shady doctors like this that use tactical loopholes over small dollar amounts to scam customers and insurance companies.

However, it was after I brought my 4 year old toddler to her recently that prompted me to review her outstanding rapport with young children. My kiddo does not like medical visits of any kind. I thought he was going to be okay going in at first because of all glasses on display that got him curious and interested. But once we sat him near an examination machine and Dr. Ha started asking me questions about him, he knew it was yet another medical examination and started to bawl. Once he starts crying, it's not easy to calm him down. Dr. Ha immediately gave him attention and asked if he wanted to play some games, with numbers and letters. Told him that he will see a balloon inside. Asked if he knows his colors and to tell her the color of the balloon. I'm stunned that she got him to sit still (we're talking 4 year old here) for about 20 minutes for various exams. Highly recommended! On the phone, she said as long as the child knows their alphabet, they are old enough to get an exam with her.

I have no history that would indicate I needed the imaging and have never gotten charged extra fees at any other optometrist. 2. Sanitary concerns! They use a lot of machines in this office. There were multiple other people at the office at the time. I never saw Dr. Ha wipe off a machine before or after usage. She also tried to not give me my eyeglasses prescription even though I told her I primarily wear glasses. I had to go back and explicitly ask for it.

However if you go there, once you have the prescription in hand and they try to hustle you to look at frames and order glasses, say you have a cousin in the business and head straight for the door.
