Dr. Timko expertly and accurately diagnosed my issue in less than 10 minutes. I walked out the same day with a pair of contact lenses that completely corrected my vision problem. It was that easy! The staff is friendly and courteous, and I love the decor inside her new location in Somerville. I had such a great experience on my first visit that I came back a second time with my 9 yo daughter, who ended up needing her first pair of glasses and walked away with a very cute pair that she was excited about. Read on for the details. After the exam, I was whisked into the section with the glasses and was coerced into picking out very expensive frames that were barely covered by my insurance. It felt like a money grab. The markup on plastic frames is ludicrous. The frames that my insurance covers were piled in a bucket that I would have to pick through while the expensive frames were nicely displayed. I found out that I could get a lot more for what my insurance covers at Costco. I could have gotten 2 pairs at Costco for what I paid at the doctor for one pair. I called to cancel my glasses order and they said "it's too late." They placed the order an hour before I called. I hardly think they were grinding the lenses at that point. I got my glasses and I noticed that one of my eyes didn't feel right. I went back to see if the problem could be figured out. Long story short, Dr. Timko barely did anything to assess the problem and when I asked her to check the glasses against the prescription, she was *very* dismissive and said "We do that when the glasses come in." I went back to my regular eye doctor to see if he could help me figure out the problem. Turns out the eye that felt weird had a prescription lens that was stronger than what she wrote. I was right. If only she had the courtesy to check the glasses like I asked her to. I do not like being dismissed- I would imagine no one does. I called to let them know about this and they offered me nothing. I asked them to take the glasses back and reverse the insurance claim. They gave me credit for the glasses. A week later, when I went to purchase my glasses elsewhere, I found out that they never reversed the claim. I called them immediately from the optician's, and they assured me they would call insurance right away. TWENTY minutes later, I called back and they said they got busy. I told them this was supposed to be done a week ago and they said "it's a complicated process". They are liars, VSP is one of the easiest companies to work with. I had to pay full price for my glasses because of Timko's INEPTITUDE. I filed a grievance with my insurance company. She absolutely should not receive a DIME from insurance. I do not trust them with my eyes. This place has ZERO accountability, the doctor is very arrogant, they are liars, and they don't follow through. I do not recommend.

Dr. Brian Rosenblatt retuned about 2 years or so ago and I felt dismissed, uninformed, and what's worse is that during my exam he took his mask off and had it off for a while during COVID-19. It took about 12 minutes for my exam to start after my scheduled appointment time. I'm total I was in and out in 45 minutes. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They are taking cleanliness serious and anything that is touched they sanitize. The equipment seemed modern and clean. I do not know enough about the equipment but seemed modern to me. I would say there is a very soft persuasion to purchase frames or contacts if you need them. Absolutely no one was pushy. The pre exam was smooth and quick. They eye doctor was friendly and explained everything he was doing. Overall it was a great experience. I would give it 4 or 5 stars but not sure what that means for an eye exam.

I thought that was weird, like your local dominos accepts corporate coupons. They are kind of gruff. The doctors office was fine, but the eyeglass staff seemed like...I dunno, not customer first. They don't seem to care really - just want to make a sale. The selection of frames is pretty weak. Like they all look alike. The stylish ones on the posters in the store ARE NOT IN THE STORE. I literally drove home and brought back old frames from a pair of sunglasses I had and had them put the lenses in. These were like old people frames or a lot of the same shape/size. Service example- they yell FROM ACROSS THE STORE at you like the second you open the door to sign in - the sign in process was pretty confusing/unorganized. They aren't clear that the add ons to the exams aren't required. For the glasses, I wasn't explained the different lens options just shown a sheet and told to pick which ones I wanted. Other places talk you through the lens options. I needed a thinner lens- I had to ask for it, it wasn't offered to me initially. All in all, I needed glasses replaced and based on past experience with Pearle offices I picked this one because it was close. I should have gone to LensCrafters like I wanted to as it has been 2 full weeks and they aren't expected back for another week. I could have walked them to the Luxottica factory in 2 weeks or had my glasses in a week from a competitor. What's done is done. I'll tell you what, I won't go back after I get these glasses. ‍
