This is the best chocolate in the world…read more I went in to get the renowned chocolate covered potato chips (these are very hard to find at any other chocolatiers). I wanted to get a few so that a friend from out of town could try them. On my way I was asked to get an additional two pounds for my mother and father. While waiting for my rather large order of chocolate, I was asked if I'd like to sample anything else. I responded by saying I'd like to sample everything else and couldn't possibly choose. This place is filled with all kinds of amazing chocolate treats. The woman behind the counter gave me a Peanut Butter Truffle-- another amazing success story from Philadelphia Candies. I also suggest French Mints, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Chocolate Covered Pretzels. This place basically has an endless supply of top notch milk chocolate treats. I would not mind getting a gamble box from here. Careful though, you can spend a lot of money in a hurry. I believe that the Gorant Candies company has been in business for several decades…read more I discovered this business for the first time this past weekend when I was riding around Youngstown. When I entered the store, the staff members said hello to me, and they asked me if I needed any assistance. I browsed around. I saw boxes of assorted chocolates along a wall and then cases of individual chocolates along another wall. I felt surprised that the center of the store contained mostly Hallmark products. I purchased half a pound of chocolate-covered cherry cordials, two rum cordials, one chocolate peanut butter bar, and one chocolate rice crispy bar for a total of $21. The employee told me to have a great day. Later, my husband and I ate the chocolates, and we enjoyed the taste of all of them. My only complaint would be that the rum cordials leaked all over their box.

I have loved Gorant so much that my family ships me my favorite chocolate since I live out of state. My favorite is the Gorant French Mint. NOT ANYMORE! They've changed this recipe since new ownership. Not the same balance of mint (hardly noticeable) and the chocolate is just okay not decadent like it used to be. The yum-yums are at least a quarter smaller than they were which is very disappointing. I'm sorry to say that they've lost a loyal, life-long customer. Very sad to see for a long-standing Youngstown tradition.
