Ordered 2 kolachi rolls (Chocolate Pecan and Blueberry) and the new Chocolate clothespin cookies. All were excellent. UPS left the box on the porch and and raccoons got into the package and ate all of the cookies! Didn't touch the rolls, probably because they were vacuumed sealed in plastic. Did inform Butter Maid Bakery and they replaced the cookies at no charge! Although the cookies were good, because of the raccoons I'm sticking to the kolachi rolls from now on. read more

Butter Maid Bakery - Raccoons stole the cookies from the middle of the box! - Bakeries Near Me - Boardman, Ohio

These folks make insanely good pastries that originated in Croatia and Slovenia. Not only are they fresh and tasty, they remind me of my mother, who's been gone for over 30 years. Every holiday season, she put a clean tablecloth on the dining room table, and spread flour over it. She then rolled sweet roll dough into a layer that covered the table and was so thin it was translucent. She then spread a mixture of brown sugar, butter, and finely ground walnuts over the dough. The tricky part was rolling the dough into a cylinder ( I helped with that part). The reward was a fragrant roll with many layers. Butter Maid is exactly like what my mother made, plus they have flavor choices she never dreamed of. The prices are very reasonable, and regular customers get great discount. A plus is that you can buy a cookie donation for our military troops! read more

Jackie, You have to be kidding me that I have to pay for shipping. That is what has caused this mess and caused me to have to stop doing business with your company. As a disabled person I am astonished at the unprofessional and utter disregard of your company to make this situation right according to both sides. The tracking number is the same as the one used for delivery because I refused delivery at the UPS Store. Contact UPS for a shipping refund, period. I am going to give your company really harsh reviews on every social media platform I can find. I am notifying all my friends who have ordered from you in the past to stop doing business as well. I found a company that offers the same or close to the same items and will start doing business with them or make my own. I REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING ON THESE ITEMS ON DELIVERY AND RETURN. I SUGGEST YOU GET YOUR MONEY FROM UPS. I EXPECT A FULL REFUND OF THE PRICE I PAID, YOU GAVE ME FREE SHIPPING ON PURCHASE. GET YOUR MONEY FROM UPS NOT A DISABLED OSTRACISED CUSTOMER. To further add salt to my wounds from this transaction you made me get a neighbor to drive me to the UPS Store and get the package back to you within 2 days from your e-mail. I really suggest you look at your companies policies and decide to take care of your customers so that this does not happen again. As you can see the delivery attempt was not made until Monday 4/6/2026. I was promised the package on both Friday 4/3/2026 and Saturday 4/4/2026. It was only after the customer service center from UPS was closed on 4-4 2026 that they changed the delivery day until Monday 4/6/2026. I had to go look for the UPS truck delivering in my area and had a long conversation with him regarding my package. He said it was not on his truck and he could do nothing about the situation. This is extremely horrific customer service by both UPS and Buttermaid Bakery. Thanks, Mike read more

We love their Kolachi. Fresh and tasty without being excessively sweet like many other bake goods. Great variety of filling options. We love the poppy seed and raisin! I am from PA and so I was very familiar with these. My family is German and Hungarian. Then I moved to CA. We could not find anything like this there. From there we went to TX and now recently to MN. We have been ordering the nut and the apricot the most. We have tried other flavors but those two are our favorites. We always make sure we have them for the holidays! They freeze well, taste just like when you first received them. Their customer service is amazing! They are a little expensive but they do sometimes have discount codes. Definitely worth it. It warms my heart to have a piece of my heritage every time I bite into a piece. We will continue to order these. The best ever! read more

Love ordering their baked goods. Great for variety of trays for parties or just awesome, yummy homemade snacks.

MY SAILOR NEVER GOT HIS COOKIE PACKAGE! I ordered 2 products. 1 military box 2 dozen cookies for my son, who couldn't be home with us for Christmas and we all miss him so much. I wanted my son to have something delicious and homemade to make him happy and feel like home. The 2nd thing I ordered was a donation box of cookies, which I thought would go somewhere else around the world to other military. I didn't realize all the cookies donted go to the military station close to the bakery in there in Ohio. So, that was a little disappointing. They probably see cookies often, unlike other locations throughout the U.S., I thought they'd spread the love a little. Back to MY Son's box of military cookies bought same day, same time, December 15th. It is now JANUARY 4th!!! My son still never received any delivery of cookies. So much for them being for Christmas. They missed New Years. Maybe ValentinesDay? IF they even ever show up. I know I correctly filled out his address. So that cant be the issue. I'm actually starting to wonder if it was a scam. I wouldn't purchase anything from here ever again since I spent all that money and I don't know anyone who got to taste any of it!! read more

The poppyseed kolachi is so much like the kind my Cappy made. Just divine. I shared with my neighbor to thank him for helping me clean out my garage. He is a man of few words. "Hey, that was really good!" It arrived fresh in Colorado. Yum! read more

I ordered online and they say free shipping when you buy three items. It is NOT free shipping. Online they charge $26 for one kolache. If you go into the store, they charge $20. read more

Over rated over priced and the family shtick is only if you're from a very disfunctional family. End crust was tough but the center had a great fusion of poppyseed and honey. Add my complaints to lousy service when shipping goes wrong. My package was damaged and their reply was that it ws the shipper Fed Ex's problem not theirs, was something my Polish father born in 1918 would say. read more

I've been ordering their treats for other people for about 3 years and finally said, hey what about me? So I had no idea what anything tasted like until a week ago lol. I originally ordered for a friend with Polish roots. I thought it was a cool idea to get her and her family the kolachi for Christmas. Sadly, they told me ZILCH about how they liked them. Moving on to the next year and I ordered them again but this time for my nuclear family. And again, not a soul told me how they tasted. Well, no one died so it must have been fine. I love the idea of baked goods made fresh and delivered. But when you mail order they rarely ever TASTE freshly made, except maybe from Etsy. Butter Maid Bakery breaks the mold. I ordered the lemon kolachi, the butter cookies (cuz I had to know what the heck is a butter cookie?) and the pecan cookie thingees that taste like mashed coffee cake. Every single one came out of the box like I just made it in my own kitchen. Amazing. The only thing I can say is I wish the kolachi were pre-cut. Especially the lemon is super messy and sticky - but delish! We really enjoyed having this cozy homemade experience that came to us from so far away from where we are. A treat! read more

I had been truly missing my Mom's nut rolls... she isn't able to make them any longer. I found photos of Butter Maid Bakery's Original Nut Kolachi Roll and thought they looked exactly like Mom's nut rolls... so I ordered one. And - it is EXACTLY like hers! So good, that I have re-ordered numerous times, and even my Mom orders them now! They have the "Mom Stamp of Approval!" read more

My mother was the best baker.  She was Hungarian and boy the stuff that came out of her oven. Anyway I have long had a love of nut rolls and consider myself a connoisseur. When I returned to Pittsburgh,  it seemed that most bakeries had nut rolls. But the quality was on par with the local grocery chain, Giant Eagle. Acceptable but not something you want to spend too much on.The one exception is Jean-Marc Chatellier in Millvale. It is like Mom is in his kitchen. But sadly their hours often do not match the times I return to the Burg. With such a high bar, how could Butter Maid hope to compete? Still Pittsburgh is 2 months away and I want nut roll.  So I ordered from Butter Maid.  No, they did not reach the high bar I set, but of all the nut rolls places I have tried, they are a solid #2.  I am happy.  Furthermore, Butter Maid has a store close to my route in and out of Pittsburgh.  So I will be stopping and trying their other baked goods.  I think I will be in bakery heaven. The nut rolls arrived fresh, shrink wrapped but not squished.  Into the freezer they went, except for one tiny taste.  Filled with nuts, it was very very good.  The store can feel very proud of their product. I had a good feeling about this bakery which is located in Youngstown.  Like Pittsburgh,  Youngstown has lots of good ethnic cooks.  I was not disappointed read more

I ordered a box of Chocolate Chip Cookies to be delivered to my Aunt in Arizona, They arrived and she sent me an email saying they were raw, and not to order her cookies anymore. I wrote to the company with this concern and they assured me that their ovens are set to a certain temp and that they are very rich cookies but certain they were not raw, they offered a replacement of something else and I decided to be a judge for myself and said great, send me the same thing I ordered for my Aunt. The cookies arrived today and I must say they were they best cchoccccolate chip cookies besides at home, homemade I have ever had. My apologies to the company for what my Aunt said, I may need to be more concerned about her mental well being as the cookies were great. Thanks! read more
