Good, quality reasonable bakeries are a dime a dozen to find these days. As part of always honoring, tradition my mom and I had, to check out new local bakeries , had to stop in, in honor of her memory. Aubrey, the young lady that took care of me on my visit, was expectational , friendly, outstanding, customer service and patient. Visiting from out of town after a 5k in Sandy Lake, PA, on my way to Astubula OH and in need of bread , and sweet treats for adopted family visiting. I ended up spending under $12, for assortment of cookies, sliced Italian bread, two turnovers and a peach muffin, and decorative cookie. Cookies are hit or miss some are salty with no sugar, some are too sugary with crunchy sugar granules (peanut butter). Oatmeal cookies fell apart fast, the m & m ones were chewy and held together. Flower cookies with frosting ,have a frosty candy crunch to it, with little to no cookie underneath. Very inconsistent cookies across the board; skimping on ingredients, a lot is missing from each cookie, each cookie is lacking something and not that good. The worst part is nothing is even priced in the store, I didn't know they sold coffee , that's not priced, there's no seating, you can't enjoy your coffee and donut. Everything is all different prices so I bought a few small cookies, a big cookie and a donut came out to 9$ which is better than Crumbl but, not putting the price is sus. NEW NEVER AGAIN! We ordered 5 dozen cutout cookies for a baby shower almost 2 weeks before the shower. Nothing crazy - it was a berry theme, so we asked for strawberries and onesies. They did not have a strawberry cookie cutter, but they said if we found one, they would use it. We just had to have it to them at least 2 days before the order was to be picked up. I found one, and my daughter dropped it off the Thursday before the Sunday pick up, since they are closed Monday - Wednesday. Nothing seemed off; they took the cookie cutter without mentioning any potential issues. On Saturday at 2:50 pm - less than 24 hours before they 9:00 am Sunday pick-up - they called my daughter and left a message that the strawberry cookie cutter wasn't working out. No problem. My daughter called them back and asked if they could do a different shape instead. They changed their story a couple more times and finally said they were unable to fulfill the order at all. My daughter asked if we could just get some of the flower cut out cookies they always have in their display case, but was told that, since it was the holiday weekend (July 4th), they only had red, white and blue icing. We didn't order anything out of the ordinary. 5 dozen iced sugar cookies was not an exotic request. It was extremely ignorant and unprofessional to cancel on us with essentially no notice. To not even offer an alternative was ridiculous! I will not go back and would advise anyone looking to plan for an event to find another vendor. To add insult to injury, a friend stopped in there the morning of the shower and sent me pictures of the cookies in their case. Notice the flowers we requested as an alternative, but were told weren't an option. read more

Classic Bakery is such an appropriate name for this local gem! It's like traveling back in time. Everyone is dressed in all white, the bakery is all white and there are cakes, cookies and bread as far as the eye can see. Of heaven has a smell , this is it! My parents recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and we had their wedding cake too recreated. Classic Bakery did an amazing job and it was beautiful. But the taste?!? This is by far the best white almond cake I've ever eaten! It was absolutely perfect in every way. Will definitely be going back for cookies in the near future and of course, more cake. read more

If you are going to a Bakery in the Boardman area this is the place. They have the best almond torte cake and their carrot cake is also delicious. Save room for some cookies too. They also have a great selection of baked bread and donuts. This is one of my favorite spots even just to stop in and grab a cookie for a sweet treat. Love this place. They have the best iced cut out cookies. And their cakes are really yummy too. I haven't tried any bread or pies there yet though but they always look good. Maybe next time. Only downside is when it's busy (like any time during the holidays) the wait can be awhile. They really should get one of those take a number things. The single star is only because the white almond cake here is actually quite good. We used to get one for all our family events & birthdays. However, I cannot & will not give my money to a place with such horrible customer service. I stopped by today on a whim. As soon as I walked in, an abrasive old woman asked what I wanted. I told her I was just looking, for the time being. A minute later, a different woman asked if I had been helped. The first woman answered FOR me, barking "She's just looking!" A few minutes later I decided what I wanted and placed my order with another employee. She went to assemble a box, and the first woman walks over to her and says "I ASKED her if she wanted anything when she walked in, and she said she was JUST LOOKING!" I had NO IDEA bakery etiquette dictates that you MUST know EXACTLY what you want the MOMENT you set foot in the door *eye roll*. I left without purchasing anything. After discussing this with local friends, they agree that it's pretty much standard M.O. for this place. Working in a service-based job for the past twelve years, this kind of thing does not fly with me. If you're in Boardman/Youngstown and you want baked goods but don't enjoy being treated like crap, skip this place and go down the street to Clarancedale Cake. First, this is not for the brick and mortar store, its for the cookies they sell through cookies of the month. I am glad I received the three month subscription as a Christmas gift. The thought is what counts even when the gift turns out bad. If I had paid for these cookies I would be furious. Second box came today. Like the first box, every cookie was broken, there are more crumbs than chunks. Sugar cookie is stale and tastes more like flour than butter-sugar. Peanut butter chocolate dipped cookie looked promising. I can't figure out the after taste, is it baking soda or hopelessness. My Mom used to make kolache at xmas but is too sick to do that so I wanted to get some for us as a family tradition. I have ordered cakes from Classic Bakery for many years. They did a fine job on my wedding cake almost 20 years ago, and I've continued to support them over the years. The almond torte cake or peach chiffon cakes are our family's favorites. It's true that this place is pretty traditional and predictable in its offerings, which might turn off the foodies, but bear in mind that the prices here are much more reasonable than the fancier competition. Sure, the ladies can sometimes be grumpy or short with you, but who cares? Wouldn't you be cranky if you had to deal with slow choosers and were on your feet all day?
