Macarons! We saw these folks at the Upper Arlington Farm Market; I'm sure they are at others in town. They had a big assortment of macarons- and some of them use ganache. Mom is a big macaron fan, but only likes the ganache ones, not the frosting-filled versions. Only a few places in town meet her standards. She tried a chocolate ganache one, and said it was amazing. Baby K and I tried a cinnamon roll one, frosting-filled, and it was pretty good. If I'd been hungry I would have sprung for a box; I think 7 for $20 (individuals are $2.50.) I love Bake Me Treats! I went for the first time this week and it was so wonderful! The interior is adorable, everyone is so friendly, and the treats are delicious! I am a self-certified bakery snob, and the treats here live up to my high standards. They are one of the few walk-in bakeries in the area that uses Swiss meringue buttercream for their cupcakes, and it is that difference that puts them on a different level than others. All of their treats are both delicious and beautiful to look at. The macarons are some of the best I've had. I have been waiting to try this place for so long, but their hours never line up for when I am in town visiting friends. I went at 3:30pm on a Saturday and they close at 4pm. I knew things might be picked over, but not almost everything was gone. The weird part was that there was a long line of people behind me so clearly could have made more money and had more available. When I arrived, there were about 6 flavors of macaroons, 2 flavors of Oreos and 1 type of brownie left in the case. I tried the two Oreos. The fingertip was pretty good, but the chocolate wasn't very good and lacked flavor. I also ordered a lavender lemonade. The person in front of me ordered it too and I got the last of the jug. It wasn't quite a full glass. It was good, but a bit sour. When I went in one of the workers also didn't wait on me as she was stapling papers/receipts. She explained she had to finish that first. My friends and I decided to order locally for a birthday party. Husband chose here for the birthday cake and set about ordering a custom cake. He was told they don't do custom cakes - despite the website saying they do. We regrouped and settled on macarons. We were told it would be one price for the macarons and then another price for the tower, so we decided to order a separate tier from amazon. The day arrived and we go to pick up the order. With Covid, we wait outside and try calling - the staff inside just keep ignoring the calls so when we go to actually get the order we are told to stay in the vehicle and are talked down to - horrendous customer service. We get the macarons hom and they're terrible! They're using the wrong technique to make them, they're different sizes and shapes and they're dramatically underfilled. Worst of all is they're basically the same price as Bottega Louie and LA or Gaby et Jules in Pittsburgh but without the technique, flavours or customer service. Skip this place! Update: everyone found the flavours to be severely lacking. I suspect this is due to the lack of filling, but for the most part they lacked flavour and left a fatty residue in the mouth. This is a true gem to the Youngstown area. It is great to see that there are so many "big city" shops coming to our area, helping to enrich and bring new concepts to our area. My husband and I lived in the city of Pittsburgh for years, and we are used to "bigger city" specialty foods and bakeries. Upon moving to Poland, OH, I felt a lack of artisan foods nearby, until I happened to stumble upon this little gem in our new hometown. A variety of French macaroons are their specialty, and honestly they are comparable to the "bigger city" or European flavors. The founder of this bakery studied culinary arts in Pittsburgh, and learned how to make macaroons from an authentic French bakery (I happened to speak with her briefly this morning). The macarons, cakes, and cupcakes are not only some of the most beautiful, but some of the most decadent pastries I have tried. They also have coffee and a small place to sit with WiFi, if you want to sit back, relax, or even work for a bit. Yes, the pastries are a bit pricier, but they well worth the price for the unique taste, aesthetics and experience. I will be returning! read more

We were looking for something different for our daughter's 10th birthday party and thought macarons are not usually found at kids parties so we ordered an assortment of 30. Well, we probably should of ordered 90! They were the hit of the day with both kids and parents. Everyone was saying "you gotta try this one or that one!" My fiancé and I were looking for a wedding cake so we decided to try bake me treats. For wedding cake selections they have 3 cake flavors and 3 cake fillings. It cost $20 to do the cake tasting and when you are scheduling the tasting they asked you your wedding date to see if it's available or not, and also they said if you buy your cake with us we will take the $20 off your total price in the end. So after the tasting I decided I liked one flavor cake and from a different pairing I liked a different filling so I asked if I could do that, and they refused they said the cake flavor has to go with the preselected filling. Which I couldn't understand why, but that was okay and I just settled on a different flavor. Then I revive a call less then 3 weeks before the wedding and they said "sorry we are actually going to be closed the weekend of your wedding" and that was the end of that. No refund for the cake tasting that I would have never done if I would have known they were going to be closed, and no wedding cake. Extremely unprofessional, a wedding cake is very important on your wedding day and to have to run around last minute before your wedding to attempt to find somewhere else to make it was very stressful. read more
