I loved it here! It is so warmly decorated, and for Christmas the mansion really shines. I took the Christmas tour, which was very interesting and Taylor was so knowledgeable about the history. After having been partially destroyed by fire, vacated by a vagrant, and after sitting unloved and overgrown, the house has taken new life after being restored by the Winner family in the past 29 or so years. It really is magical inside and outside. I can see why people choose this as a wedding venue. I would love to come back and stay there and experience the spa. The guest rooms are pristine and the grounds are gorgeous. read more

The event is to be held in their livery stable. Found it to be a very small area, and looked like you would expect a livery stable to look like. My husband and I spent one night for our anniversary and everything was absolutely perfect. Check in was done with careful covid precautions in place, which we appreciated. Once we got up from signing in, everything we touched was disinfected immediately and set for the next person. There was an optional short tour which we accepted and enjoyed, as well as champagne when we arrived. We stayed in the Grand Turret and it was a beautiful, clean and well appointed room. The welcome tray and bottle of champagne was a treat. There were robes and slippers in the room and a gorgeous, huge jetted tub with lots of fun bubbles and bath herbs to toss in. The bed was really comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was great. There was a menu of 3 or 4 options to choose from which were delivered to our room at the time we chose. The grounds and common rooms here are stunning. We didn't have much time to really sit and enjoy all of it but we did enjoy walking through and looking at all of the details around the property. The restoration done here is really something. Buhl's name is sprinkled on buildings and roads around the area and you can tell how appreciated he was in this town. We will definitely return for another visit (soon, we hope!) and maybe book an extra night so we can really take it in everything this Inn has to offer. read more

This spa and mansion is beautiful beyond words. When we first arrived, it bags were carried in for us by a sweet girl named Hope. After that, we parked in our designated parking spot for the Artist Loft. When we entered, we were given a tour and our room key. Our room came with complimentary champagne, fruit tray, chocolates, and fresh flowers. The room was extremely clean and perfected. The spa was equipped with a sauna, steam room and monsoon shower free of charge. There was also free tea time with tea and cookies as well as little sandwiches. Breakfast was included and it was beautifully arranged at our meeting time in the Sun Room. Hope was an amazing host and went above and beyond for me and my friend! Overall, I would recommend this mansion for the price, and quality. I am giving this mansion a 4 star rating, and for 3 reasons. 1.) A male (almost female) employee checked us out of the hotel on November 6th 2023 at noon. I had a gift card I wanted to use to pay for my bill. I had presented this gift card upon check in, but was told I would use the gift card during check out, so I waited, as one would. The male snapped at me when I told him I had a gift card. He stated "Gift cards should be presented upon check in!" I told the man that I had presented upon check in, but was told to wait till check out to present the gift card. The male snubbed his nose and gave a very sheeply, "have a nice day". This interaction kind of ruined the stay for us after having such a perfect stay. It was completely unnecessary for him to make the snarky remark. 2.) The products in the women's dressing room were all empty. They have lotions, face wash, face lotion, and dry oil spray you can use in the women's dressing room. These were all empty which was disappointing. 3.) On November 6th 2023 around 10 am, we tried to use the sauna and steam room. We tried to use the sauna, but it was completely cold inside, same with the steam room. The bucket for water in the sauna was completely empty. When we exited the sauna, there were cleaning ladies cleaning the dressing room, which disrupted us and made us feel a little uncomfortable. Overall, these are very minimal issues, but if these could have been mitigated. It would have been a flawless stay! read more

We booked a ladies spa day to celebrate someone in the group beating cancer and decided to make the 90 minute drive there. We had heard lovely things but I'm inclined to believe they were talking about somewhere else; after having just spent the day there and spending almost $2,000. Should have been $1,250 but we'll get there.... First of all staff is nowhere to be found, it's like a really un-fun game of hide and seek. Finally find people and they're cold and curt. Not quite rude just made it known they didn't want to be there, contemptuous. Services in general were meh. Manicure? Rough, and rushed, no hand massage or anything as listed in the service. Didn't use cuticle softener/oil just tore away at mine. Massage? Despite asking for more pressure several times it was like she was afraid to touch me, very very delicate. Could hear the other staff gossiping loudly about having gotten drunk over the weekend, people stomping around upstairs. 50 minute massage was around 35 minutes. Facial? I have no basis for comparison on this to comment one way or the other. I felt slimy and gross after though, not refreshed and cleansed. It was odd, one in our party who had one before said it was merely ok compared to the ones she's had in the past that were substantially cheaper. Up next was lunch. Now this was absolutely laughable. Our package included champagne (actually the whole day included that and/or soft drinks, tea, water but good luck getting any; I went directly to the kitchen several times to serve our group-- on one such visit I witnessed them marrying bottles of champagne which is not only gross but illegal in PA) the champagne in question? $4.99 bottle at the local wines and spirits and not just lukewarm- bordering on hot...so not only was it garbage it was hot garbage. So we asked for a diet soda once we got the servers attention. One sip and I gagged. It was disgusting, I checked the bottom of the can it had expired 7 months ago. My friend didn't even sip hers yet, checked her can same thing. So we politely just asked for water to pour over our measly 4 ice cubes we were given with the soda. She brings out some cracker thing and we ask what it is and she said horseradish. Who serves horseradish with naan crackers? Anyways, main course was a grilled chicken salad. I asked for no onions. I get it full of onions, she brings it back again after merely picking out the onions, the cold dry pre cooked chicken literally had onions stuck to the back of it. Salad was littered with rotten blueberries, and just a whole lot of spring mix and soggy borderline spoiled tomatos. Then comes dessert, SYSCO cheesecake, oooo wow. Again for the price of the package I expected something a little nicer than Dennys, but at this point I shouldn't have been surprised. Next up was our pedicures. The first two people that got them were content with them but said what they get at the local nail salon was just as nice if not better for much cheaper. While they did that we used their spa. The monsoon showers are great and all except they blast you with ice cold water for a solid 20 seconds when you turn them on. After this was my turn for a pedicure. Well. Usually you'd expect a pedicure to include some lotion, or a rub or something but no...the final two of us were in the chair for 30 minutes compared to the first two who sat for just over an hour received a foot and leg massage with lotions (that smelled really good) but at this point my nail tech had made it clear she had somewhere to be and rushed through and took off while the person with me who started at the same time was still being serviced. You'd think this is the end but it's not. We finally go and gather our things and go upstairs to find someone to check out with and we find the rudest of all of the staff, the gentleman at the front desk. I'm not sure it's possible to have been more ignorant with out having spat in our faces directly. I can take a lot but this was just an unreal level of abysmal especially for the price. The calmest in our group was ready to knock the pretentious little smirk off of his face. We were nothing but polite to the staff (we are all service industry, we know better. We were there to celebrate and happy to be together) and just treated like absolute garbage. I don't know if it's because we're not their usual upper crust clientele or what but if you can go anywhere else I'd recommend that. Anywhere, literally the Asian apple down the road. Oh and do not tip in cash. There is an automatic gratuity when you check out, of course nobody told us this and gladly took our $20 bills each for every service rendered. There were a few very tiny signs we were told later when we asked about this. Totally not worth the drive or the money. The mansion itself is absolutely gorgeous but the spa is very dated in a bad way (the mansion is good dated, historic, attention to small details). Think, your Aunt Lindas circa 1996. My husband and I met some friends up at Buhl for the weekend and it was like being whisked away into a very romantic world. Time literally stood still. We made a personal connection with the the staff (Anthony) and he made it feel like home. The mansion was stunning, romantic and is truly a hidden gem! This place is a must see! This review is 2 years in the making, and to be honest, I can't believe no one has reviewed the Buhl Mansion yet. I've stayed at 50+ bed and breakfasts in my life, and usually prefer to stay at those that are on the "Select Registry". In all of that time, I have never stayed at a place quite as lovely as the Buhl Mansion. The house, in a single word, exquisite. Everything about the Buhl Mansion experience is tailored towards luxury and relaxation. The house has been beautifully restored by the Winners... who invested the CLUB (you know, that thing people use to lock their car steering wheels). There is a never-ending supply of teas and treats to snack on in the common area. All of the actual guest rooms are beautiful. I stayed in the Frank H. Buhl room, and it was extremely comfortable (king sized bed, huge bathroom, fireplace, etc.). The morning's breakfast was amazing, too. There is also a restaurant and spa on-site, but I didn't indulge in either of those. All in all, a wonderful place and I would LOVE to be back. Okay, I didn't get a service or stay here, so I probably should not be writing a review. I have family from the area who have told me about all the Buhls did for the community and that the Buhl Mansion is now a spa and bed and breakfast. So when I was visiting and saw it, I just had to go inside. And it's a beautiful turn-of-the-century(?) mansion. The employees were really nice and encouraged me to have a look around on the main floor and in the basement, which is where the spa is. I really hope I can return and stay one day. read more

So the mansion itself is definitely 5 stars, gorgeous and one of the most romantic places in the world! The staff however are 10 stars! Especially Taylor, he is over the top helpful and geniunely took concern to make sure that our experience there was not satisfactory but excellent as did everyone of the staff members! From the moment we arrived, they treated us like royality, immediately coming out to our vehicle to assist and welcome us and absolutely insisting that we had an amazing experience! I literally have stayed all over the world from hostels to castles and this was by far the very BEST experience I have ever had at any lodging! My wife and I went for a two night stay and it was exactly what we were looking for, A relaxing getaway in a spectacular mansion. The restoration was as good as it gets and it felt like a trip back in time with 40's music playing, tea time, the period statues, paintings, murals, woodwork, the greenhouse, outdoor sitting areas surrounded by meticulously kept grounds (by Lenny) and waterscapes, trees and birds. All of the staff are hardworking and incredibly kind to make this a relaxing experience you will not soon forget. Nora, Michael, and the rest of the staff which I can't list by name were fantastic. We were free to roam the mansion and the first night, a Wednesday, we had it all to ourselves. There is a spa in the basement with a steam room and shower, pedicure room, massage tables, etc. The main floor is filled with history and includes a dining room, sitting rooms, library which leads to a beautiful private outdoor porch, tea room, kitchen, and another dining room/breakfast room. The grand staircase is highlighted by a huge stained glass feature window and leads to the second floor where there are five large bedroom suites, and then up again to another five bedrooms to include two grand bedroom suites, the Grand Turret and Grand Gables rooms. We stayed in the Grand Gables room and were not disappointed. The TV was set to a music soundscape channel where it stayed the entire time we were there. We never wanted to watch TV on this relaxing getaway, it never even crossed our mind to turn on the TV. The fine details, bed turn down service, chocolates, fudge, flower vases, ice water, champagne, fresh fruit, robes, slippers, all went into the making this getaway something special. The round Jacuzzi tub with a 15' ceiling was amazing. I will let the pictures fill in the blanks but I wanted to address the area surrounding the mansion too. There are things to do nearby and some great dining outside the mansion but I recommend going to the Buhl Mansion for the Buhl Mansion experience and nothing else. The Buhl Mansion has a few company owned properties like Donna's Diner which was great, just minutes away and the Tara Inn which is about 20 minutes away which has some great restaurants ranging from formal to casual. We also ate at Muscarella's Café Italia, Scotto's Pizza, Cravings for Ice Cream, and we visited Our Gang's Lounge for some bar food and drinks. There are a couple other bars nearby, Keg Bar and Grille, Hickory Bar and Grille, and some other restaurants worth mentioning, Luigi's Pizza, Combine Brothers, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Toss'd. You can check out Thyme in Your Kitchen to schedule a cooking demo, visit flea markets with Lisa's General Store and Flea Market, Pulaski Flea Market, and Valley View Antiques all nearby. We purchased three pair of shoes at nearby Reyer's Shoe store, one of, if not the largest shoe store you will ever see. But again, visit the Buhl for that experience as your main reason for going. I would highly recommend that you visit Buhl Park while you are there. It is just about 10 minutes away and provides an awesome walking/fitness experience surrounded by nature with one of the most beautiful small lakes I have ever seen. All in all, I would definitely give this place an A+ rating for a romantic or relaxing getaway. I hear great things about it as a wedding venue too, in fact while we were there a couple had a small family only wedding there and they seemed very happy. They even shared some wedding cake with us! The stay is extremely friendly and helpful. All the little touches set this place apart from others. Buhl Mansion was one of the nicest bed & breakfasts I've ever stayed in. Every room (and unused rooms were open for viewing) was gorgeously decorated and have Jacuzzis. We stayed in the Park Place room, which has a big fourposter bed with a gazillion pillows. The staff was super-attentive; we were offered champagne or mimosas the minute we walked in the door. Complimentary tea was served in the afternoon, with cookies, fruit and finger sandwiches. Breakfast and lunch can be taken in your room, or the sun room. The only reason I held back a star was that some of the food options did not match the quality of the rooms, spa and service. (Waxy green hash browns at breakfast, iceberg salad at lunch brought down the excellent Eggs Benedict and Cr eam Cheese Scrambled Eggs, served with homemade pound cake and coffee cake.) Speaking of the spa, every bit of it was topnotch. We had facials and massages that we done with superb healing touch. There is always Kimberlyn infused water available, plush robes and towels, and a sauna, steam room and monsoon shower. I highly recommend and will return. read more

The greeting at the door, the free champagne the ambiance, the huge hot tub in the room the fireplace in the room all amazing. Wasn't sure what to expect but they knocked it out of the park. This charming Victorian B and B was the perfect place for an over night getaway. Booked this stay for my husband as a Father's Day present from me. Upon arrival, you are warmly greeted with a sparkling glass of champagne and a tour of the facility. After the tour you are shown to your room where a delicious tray of fresh fruit, cheese and crackers and a bottle of champagne await you! Perfect snack after traveling. Just as we started to settle in and decided to fill the huge jacuzzi in our room there was a knock at the door and a large tray of finger sandwiches, fruit and dessert was left for us with tea service. Made our time in the jacuzzi feel like we were at a private spa. The concierge service was impeccable catering to our every need and promptly bringing fresh ice, cold drinks and extra pillows. The room was spotless and after returning home from dinner we were left with a box of chocolates and menus for our morning breakfast. Which was not bad! All in all I highly recommend this little gem of a getaway and I found that the price included gratuity and you get a lot of bang for your buck. If wanted you may also add spa services to your stay. The Buhl Mansion is not only amazing as a bed and breakfast, but it was a fabulous place for us to have our small wedding. Every detail was handled with care. We arrived early, and were offered a nice room if we wanted it. We were given a tour of the grounds and given several options on where to take our vows. The photos they took were amazing. They even helped arrange dinner at Tara and to have our cake delivered there. The room was huge and comfortable. The jacuzzi was big enough for at least 4 people. Champagne was supplied in our room. There was turn down service with chocolates. We woke the next morning to the smell of bacon. My husband walked down to have a cigarette and managed to snag some coffee and bacon, before our actual breakfast arrived. The breakfast was fabulous (and yes there was more bacon!). The rooms were very quiet and comfortable. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate our every need. I cant wait to go back for our anniversary! read more

We stayed one night at Buhl for a wedding vow renewal for 2 very good friends. Having never been to Buhl the moment we pulled in we were awed. Anthony met us at our car and immediately made us feel at home. Everything was taken care of and they were ready to pamper us. Taylor put on he charm taking us to our room with a mini history tour. The room was immaculate and homey. The amenities were included. We dressed for the wedding and headed to the venue. Ed the shuttle driver was amazing. He was friendly and gracious. My mom and went there for her birthday, we enjoyed a spa treatment there. Everything was what we imagine and the salad was ok. The only reason I am holding back 1 star is because we went there to relax and we did up until the pedicure and manicure the treatment itself was amazing the woman that did our treatments were very nice but talked way too much. Spoke with Marci and set up our wedding for June. Specifically asked about children being allowed and was told that while they were not allowed at Buhl Mansion, their sister property the Tara Inn did allow them. Based on what we were told, we booked our wedding with them and spent hours preparing things on our end. A few weeks later our guest went to book a room with Tara Inn, they were told there was an age limit, something we were never informed of. This was a small, family only wedding with people traveling together. It was doubling as a family vacation. We did not want people spread out over several hotels. We ended up having to cancel everything we had booked with them as well as the flights out of the nearby airport for our honeymoon. It has turned out to be a huge hassle because Marci did not provide us with the proper information. My recommendation would be to save yourself the headache, heartache, and time and book somewhere else. read more
