Never left on a sour note at Haitian Sensation! I've known Joseph since 2016 back when the Shenango Valley HALL was still standing. I remember the 6ft foldable table and the multiple crockpots filled with deliciousness. How beautiful it is to see what it has bloomed into! God has blessed his mission in supporting Haiti for sure. The employees are a blessing themselves, very down to earth and unusually nice, definitely fantastic! In my lifelong experience, you don't find many cheerful folks up north but it pays to know the One who provides joy! The food is never a miss. Poul Diri ak Pwa is beyond delicious and flavorful. This review to make a comment, what I found to be a lack of the ingredients that is in haluska (cabbage and noodles) there needs to be more cabbage in the dish in my order I found a couple of pieces of cabbage. 98% noodles, I looked forward to this and was disappointed along with that it was too salty. I had the goat with rice and beans. $13.00. Beautifully seasoned. Not the kind of dish I would expect in Sharon. Or PITTSBURGH or Cleveland for that matter. Short and sweet review. Place is hard to find, very near the Sharon Regional Hospital. Right next to a Subway in a plaza that is off the Main Street, east State street. Food is great. Great menu. We just ate here yesterday afternoon. I lived for several years in Haiti as a missionary kid and it's awesome to live this close to an authentic place to get Haitian food. I was getting my car serviced in Mercer and figured I might as well drive the extra 15 miles or so to go here again. I did have a bit of difficulty finding the place since they'd moved downtown right next to the Penn State branch campus. Right when I walked in, I was amazed by the size and openness of the new venue. It literally looks like a cafeteria in a large university, but much more appealing. The moment I walked in my mood, which was grumpy, improved immediately. It is also similar to a cafeteria in that you go to the counter to order, but then you take your seat and they bring you the food. I ordered the spicy beef with rice and beans, with a side salad with the house vinaigrette, fried sweet plantains as an extra side, and the cafe lacuya (with brown sugar). The young lady taking my order was very nice and pleasant although a bit flustered because it was very busy plus she was taking calls as well, and there were only two people up front. The salad was delicious and I really liked the house dressing. The main meal I'd give 4-stars which is still very good. Plantains were excellent and, as always the case, accompanied the main meal very well. I absolutely loved the coffee as it had the perfect sweetness and really perked me up. I really liked the Haitian motif especially the somber paintings and explanations of various tragedies around the disaster that struck some time back. For dessert, I ordered the banana cream cake, but they were out of most of the desserts, so I opted for two scoops of ice cream. One was the chocolate candy explosion, the other death by chocolate. The candy one was okay but the death by chocolate was delicious and so creamy. I'll add that I took most of my meal home as I've been trying to minimize my portions, and ended up tearing up the remainder for breakfast the following morning along with an omelet that I made. In summary, this place is so so so close to 5-stars. If I could have had that banana cream cake with a scoop of that death by chocolate, I think that would have done it for me. Will most certainly be returning next time my car needs serviced...note in Western PA we typically omit the auxiliary verb. read more

My brother had been encouraging me to check this place out for quite some time. Finally I popped in for lunch today. On the outside, you can barely tell that this place exists. It's in a small Plaza and very unassuming in the outside. On the inside, it's a small, warm, restaurant/coffee shop with some great personality. The menu is very overwhelming at first, because it was all written on a board behind the register. Since it was my first visit, I was trying to take it all in, which was tough. I ordered the Haitian mac and cheese with beef on top. The lunch special came with a drink and a side salad. This was just under $7, a great deal. The food was delicious, even though I get the feeling that the rice and beans are really the shining star at this place. I originally wasn't planning on eating inside because I didn't expect to see inviting seating. However the booths were calling my name so I decided to stay and eat. The service was very friendly and conversational. In my conversations with the employee, I learned that this is a mission restaurant, which means all the proceeds and profits go towards mission trips to Haiti. In fact, all of the artwork hanging in the restaurant comes from Haiti as well. This is absolutely a place I will visit again. read more

Excellent, great-tasting food, especially convenient if you work near downtown. I have tried the pulled pork sandwich, salad, beans and rice, and mac and chi over the last few weeks. Not only is the food flavorful and satisfying, but it is reasonably priced too. The lunch specials here are only $8 and come with a can of pop and side salad. There are not too many good takeout options around here, so it's great that they are near downtown. I would recommend ordering ahead since it does take about 20 minutes to prepare takeout orders. My only mild criticism is that the coffee is a bit on the pricey side, but it does taste wonderful too. read more

I love Haitian Sensation. This was our 4th or 5th time here and it is so good. We ordered chicken, rice, & beans and Fried pork, spicy coleslaw, & fried plantains. We also ordered a chocolate chai tea, an iced coffee, and a banana chocolate chip cookie. Everything was absolutely delicious. The spicy coleslaw was my fav thing and I don't usually like coleslaw. It takes a while to get your food, but it's all so fresh that you don't mind at all. It's also super cheap- the bill only came to $26.24! read more

Hidden gem in Sharon. This place has amazing, flavorful food. If you're short on time, order ahead because they are a little slow. Jerk chicken, fried fish sandwich, spicy coleslaw, Mac n cheese and haluski are all delicious. I'd pass on the patties (like empanadas or Jamaican patties) because they aren't super memorable. This is probably the best restaurant I've been to in a long time. The food was amazing! I can't remember the last time I was able to have authentic Haitian food at a restaurant. You won't regret going there. Have some patience, service is a tad slow. After we received our meals it became clear why. Everything was fresh and delicious, well worth the wait! The atmosphere is relaxing with artwork, inspirational quotes and scriptures throughout. The staff was amazing, we even meet the chef! Part of the proceeds for the restaurant go to fund mission trips to Haiti. If anything go for the great cause and be delighted by the food. I live about 4 hours from here and gladly add an hour on my commute back home to PA just to stop by here. Their chicken rice and beans is absolute perfection each time! The fish pieces on their sandwiches are often large and juicy, and their Mac and Cheese is the perfect level of spice. This is the one restaurant that makes me miss living in NW PA. read more

Sharon has a lovely secret with this place! The food is good and the prices are better. There is a nice cafe for people who are looking to get together for coffee (and maybe a homemade sweet treat). But if you are looking for lunch or dinner, look no further. We ordered the rice and beans, one pork and one chicken. The flavor was, well, sensational! And while our meal was delicious the table next to us got a pulled pork sandwich that looked delicious as well. The portions were very generous. I got a small and left feeling very full but wish I had a large so that I could have had it for breakfast. The only things I hope to see is music. There was no music for background noise and we felt like we had to whisper. The server wasn't very nice either. She wasn't mean but she wasn't pleasant either. Where do I start...wholesome, authentic, friendly and absolute knock out food. Came in from out of town and a quick search allowed us to stumble upon this gem of a restaurant. The owner and the waiter were both extremely friendly and helpful in pointing us in the right direction. We got the chicken rice and beans along with the Jerk Mac and cheese. The flavors are extremely complex and take you on a small adventure through Haiti. Both the Ice tea and coffee were unique and captivating. This is a must stop place for the atmosphere and food! The first time I ate anything from Haitian Sensation was at a craft fair. I instantly fell in love with the food. I have since been there several times. I have had their haluski (Cabbage and noodles) and their jerk chicken. I love them both. I have eaten Haitian Sensation at Sharon Waterfire as well. I have spoken with the owners. The man at Waterfire and his wife at the crafting event. They are both immensely friendly. If you want the jerk chicken made milder just ask. The restaurant is located across from the hospital next to Subway. They serve great cappuccinos. The atmosphere is filled with decor from Haiti. read more

This review is a long time coming. I don't know what else I can say in this review that hasn't already been said about this place. The tea, a delight! The coffee stirs and chai teas...OMG! So good, but the real delight here is the food. Word of warning, do not use the house hot sauce unless you relish adding extra spice to your meal. It can range from a mild spice to "oh my, why did I put so much on!" That being said, even at it's hottest, the food is so good that you'll push through the heat. And the hot sauce tastes amazing. I usually get the spicy pork rice and beans. A small will fill you up, but treat yourself to some leftovers and get the large. Strangely enough, it tastes amazing the next day. (Heated up or if you're odd like me perfect cold!) But something a lot of people don't know about is the black bean sauce. It is so perfect on the side. Lathering up my pork and rice with this makes the already amazing dish out of this world! The staff are very friendly, the owner is awesome too! Don't forget to get some Inspiration out of the fishbowl when you leave! (It's by the front door and has awesome little quotes that will inspire you for the rest of your day!) This place is EPIC. You will love the Haitian food and coffee. It's truly a sensation to the palette. Service is amazing and I loved the waiters enthusiasm and Faith.
