    We were away on vacation, and when we returned we found our entire house had been flooded from a…read morebroken feed line to the back of a toilet. We got in touch with Qwik Response through a referral from a friend and we are SO GLAD WE DID. They arrived within 2 hours of our call and worked for several days removing 3000 sq feet of wood flooring as well as all the drywall up to about 3 feet. Their employees are excellent and very hard and skilled workers, as well as being great people. It took 14 days with about two dozen heated fans and air scrubbers to dry out the portion of the house affected by the flooding. I give them my highest rating in every category and strongly recommend anyone with an emergency such as ours, or any really, to call the great people at Qwik Response over any other company available here in Santa Barbara. THEY ARE THE BEST and their 'quick response' to our situation was the sole reason that mold didn't start growing that would have caused much more serious damage since most insurance (ours too) has very limited coverage for mold. We are on the road to getting our house back thanks to them!!!

Steve Knght was pleasant to work with at first, but then became very rude, unhelpful, and not honest about costs as time went on. I lived out of town and when his quote for counters came at a significantly larger cost then he originally quoted, would not help me find a suitable replacement for a rental and only guided me to places with no pictures to use. He then CHOSE the counters without my approval and was dishonest about the cost to put them in, asking me for an additional $6k months later that somehow "wasn't on the invoice". From speaking with others in Santa Barbara this is a typical experience. If you choose him, account for 150% or so of the price he quoted you initially. My tenant is also a handyman and was inspecting his crews work. He said he had to be on top of them to mount the cabinets correctly, and somehow storage space and cabinets just disappeared. If he hadn't been onsite I think it would have been very poorly constructed.

There have been problems in the past with water seepage during heavy rain years but there was no mold. A Servicemaster rep came to the house without asking for my authorization. I told him what needed to be done, which was that the exterior wall needed to be waterproofed. He told me that his company doesn't do what I needed but he asked me if he could check the inside wall for moisture. I allowed him to do so and he detected no moisture. He left after spending no more than 15 minutes at the house. I received an invoice charging me $175 for the "emergency service call" even though there was no emergency and this company doesn't do what I needed. The invoice listed WATER EXTRACTION & REMEDIATION as part of the $175 charge.

If you're calling ServiceMaster Anytime, it's because something bad has happened, and they do as good a job as any at finding a good solution from a bad situation. My wife and I purchased our home this Spring. We were renters and had just entered into escrow with our landlord when we discovered a leak in our living room ceiling. The ServiceMaster tech opened a hole in the ceiling and discovered mold had grown on the ceiling joists and drywall. Definitely not what you want to deal with on your first day in escrow! ServiceMaster was instrumental in quickly coordinating the mold remediation and communicating all the costs associated with the remediation/repairs with the seller, the seller's insurance, and us so we could close escrow on schedule. There were many things to handle when navigating an insurance claim and escrow at the same time, and I'm very grateful that I had ServiceMaster Anytime to handle the water damage and repairs so my wife and I could care for our children and focus on the bright future of owning our newly repaired and mold free home!

Our insurance company recommended First Onsite to do the restoration. After the Insurance suggestion a contract was signed and a cheque was issued to close the file. The cheque was issued to First Onsite and to us. Then we waited and waited and waited. No communication; No work. Once in a while someone would show up, take measurements and photographs, and leave. Never to be heard from again. We forced conversations by email and phone with the company but the answers to our dilemma of not being able to use the garage, for now 3 months were platitudes and sweet words. NO Work. I contacted the insurance adjuster and cancelled the check. Their response was to say they were sorry and have learned from our experience. So, our recommendation, avoid dealing with First Onsite. It will only frustrate you!!
