    Complimentary Edamame
    Amy M.

Small parking lot but always able to find parking! We were greeted and sat right away. We met for a quick lunch and it was great! The restaurant is very neat and tidy, we were given complimentary edamame when we sat down. We both had spicy tuna hand rolls and one speciality roll a piece. My husband got the lemon roll and I got the special Hawaiian both fresh and both devoured immediately! Love our little community sushi spot!

I would come here for their Salmon nigiri itself. Good size pieces that melts in your mouth. I usually recommend this place for reasonably priced sushi. We enjoyed the sunomono salad, lemon roll, salmon skin hand roll and spicy scallop hand roll. The hot lips roll was alright.. nothing too special. I normally don't order rolls but tonight my daughter wanted to try a couple of their specials. The calamari rings were good until I bit into a piece of squid legs that looked crispy on the outside but ended up with raw batter in the inside. Immediately spit it out. I chose to continue my dinner without making a complaint. Still gave them a tip for their service but I'm taking away a star for my 1st bad experience here.

Such a great surprise that provided much needed self care comfort! You will be doing yourself a favor if you visit this hidden gem because their food is so flavorful, great portions (I couldn't even fit the whole roll in one pic!) and worth every dollar. It's been a rough couple of months at work so I set out for a self care day to get some of the spark back to start the year which this place definitely helped me achieve. You can tell the chef cares about making each roll perfect. The staff were all friendly and attentive while also allowing you space to enjoy the meal. There is plenty of seating in this clean restaurant. Definitely will return and recommend to all my friends.

Always so fresh and amazing! Would highly recommend to all sushi lovers. The service is also great!

This is my third time at this place and every visit has been consistently great. The sushi is always fresh and beautifully prepared, and the service is friendly and attentive. Today I ordered the Crunch and Tiger rolls -- both were delicious and full of flavor. For an appetizer, I had the spicy garlic edamame, which was perfectly seasoned and so tasty. Definitely one of my go-to spots for fresh sushi in my neighbourhood.

From the food to service all 100%. I'm a big fan of sushi and nigiris and there is nowhere else that is fresher and tastier than Edamami. They're super neat and it come with a decent portion. You MUST have Salmon and Yellowtail niguiris. Favorite rolls so far it's Fire Fire and Sindie. I just love this place.

Happy to report that Edamami's edamame was indeed tasty. There were no frills at Edamami but the portion sizes were good for the price. I was seated immediately at the counter and given a bowl of edamame. Service was fast and the food likewise. =ORDERED= *Edamame: nicely salted and came out hot. *Miso Soup: came with the combo and was standard. *Sushi and Sashimi Combo: came with 2 pieces of tuna, yellowtail and salmon sashimi and 1 piece of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, sea bream nigiri. The sea bream was a bit tough and the shrimp was overcooked. The tuna was tasted frozen and resembled the texture of a frozen ahi tuna steak. However the salmon and yellowtail quality were stellar. Both were fatty and melt in your mouth. The sushi rice was seasoned well and each piece was massive. The sashimi slices were generously thick. *Rainbow Roll: a classic executed well. The roll was stuffed with crab and the avocado and cucumber were fresh. The variety of fish matched that of the combo and tasted similarly. Edamami isn't beating any of SD's notorious sushi restaurants but they are a great local option. Most of the rolls and nigiri involved the same fish and I hope to see Edamami expand their selection in the future. Ultimately stick to the yellowtail and salmon and you'll be a happy camper.

Hot Lips Roll and Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice

One of the best sushi places I have tried in San Diego. Service and food were amazing! Our server was so friendly along with the rest of the staff. Their portions are large and delicious. We ordered most things off their "specials" menu, which was discounted. The restaurant itself is very casual and clean!

My go-to sushi spot in TierraSanta. They have a good selection of sushi to satisfy whatever you're craving. The prices are reasonable for a sushi restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy. The service has always been great. Overall, I've been very pleased with the experience and plan to keep coming back.

Decent neighborhood sushi joint! My friend lives less than a mile away and we all wanted some quick sushi without waiting. The nigiris were a bit overpriced compared to like other sushi restaurants, it'll cost ya $6-8 for 2. We got salmon and tuna. The tuna tasted a little frozen and flavorless. Salmon was better. The rolls were fun but nothing too special. I also got grilled salmon plate. The salmon felt like it was reheated as it didn't come as hot. Overall, not too bad. Quick sushi joint if you're in the neighborhood.

Decent sushi. If you're in the area and craving a little sushi, this place with scratch the itch. Now don't expect anything like Sushi Ota, but more of your standard birthday cake rolls and some nigiri options. I liked their salmon the best and then their hamachi. The tuna wasn't great. The rolls were great! - Catalina - Special Hawaiian - Deluxe Rainbow Draft beer available Easy parking

I should make this note first - I don't like seafood BUT... Edamame has my FAVORITE vegetable roll in all of San Diego. it's thick, wrapped in rice paper, stuffed with seaweed salad and other yummy veggies, and drizzled with a sweet-ish sauce. it's incredible. This is a small restaurant, so make sure you get in early to snag a table or seat at the sushi bar to watch the experts work their magic. The service is quick and you'll be greeted with a small plate of edamame while you look over the menu. don't forget to check out the chalkboard wall for weekly deals and new items!

The sushi is consistently fresh, the service is excellent, and the whole experience just works. For an all you can eat concept, the format is really well run. You have two hours at the table, which is more than enough time, especially because the food comes out quickly. They are busy, and rightfully so. The typical wait on arrival is around an hour, which sounds like a lot but honestly reflects how good this place is. If you want to skip the wait entirely, show up about 20 to 30 minutes before they open. Get there early, get right in, and start your meal the moment the doors open. If you have kids, the wait is genuinely not a problem. The surrounding outdoor mall complex has a park area where little ones can run around and burn energy while you wait. There are coffee spots, boba spots, shopping options including Marshalls, Burlington, and Five Below. An hour goes by faster than you think when you have somewhere to wander. As for the menu, everything is good. I mean that sincerely, there is not a bad item on it. My personal favorite is the Ex-Boyfriend, which is exactly as memorable as the name suggests. Order it. You will not regret it. Little Sakana is the kind of place you recommend to everyone you know and then feel slightly possessive about when it gets too popular. Five stars without hesitation.

These people are working just as hard as you're working so tip them well!

The theme of Sushi MARU is truly attention to detail, and that extends from arrival, to service, to, of course, the food. Staff were incredibly attentive and easy to talk to, including the chefs. The food, I will comment on just generally as the menu is constantly changing (as is the case with many omakase): each dish was composed of pieces that complemented each other well and created a cohesive flavor pallette. Each nigiri was artfully prepared that emphased the quality and cut of the fish, and were complemented by flavors to further highlight that. The flow of the evening was non-traditional omakase, but it felt perfect. Price ($180pp) is not for the faint of heart, but is cheaper than others I've seen. Made the reservatiin online at the beginning of March for an omakase seating in April to celebrate husband's bday. They had a 5:15pm seating on a weekday at the sushi counter. Unlike other omakase restaurants, Soichi offers their full vs petite vs nigiri only omakases at variable times (not limited to 2 seating times like others). You can also enjoy any of these omakases or order a la carte or both at the tables and outside patio also. The ambiance is bright and full of energy. Can get a bit loud with people talking, but didn't bother me. Parking is street parking. No designated lot. We found one a little down the street and walked over, which worked out. There is a park down the street and street parking around it. I recommend arriving earlier to find parking though, just in case. Restaurant is small inside, but clean and cozy. We arrived 15min early, and they seated us. The staff were all friendly. They all spoke Japanese to each other, which also felt more authentic. Our omakase chef was Daniel today. He was very nice, friendly, professional, and skilled. When we had questions, he answered them promptly and kindly. He also checked in with us to ensure the ratio of rice and sashimi was OK for us (of course it was). They served on unique plates too. Everything tasted so fresh and smooth. Some items were also unique compared to other omakase restaurants. The chawanmushj was also piping hot when served, so it also tasted fresh. They have barley tea here too and not just green tea. They offer a la carte at the end of the omakase course if we like, but I was too full. My husband ordered a tuna maki roll, which he thought tasted great. The dessert was also yum! Hojicha ice cream was very tasty! I recommend! They sang the happy bday song for the bday folks, where the senior chef (perhaps the owner?) played the ukelele/guitar and sang happy bday with the rest of us guests. Thought that was really neat. The service and partnership between the sushi chef and the wait staff was fantastic and every interaction was well thought out. The appetizer wasn't my cup of tea, but the sashimi, nigiri, grilled fish, chawanmushi were really good. The assortment of fish (at least for this season) wasn't my favorite (featuring sardines, mackerel, etc.) when I would have loved some yellowtail and salmon belly. We ordered a negitoro cut roll a la carte because we were still a little hungry - this was super tasty as the quality of the tuna/toro is top notch. For dessert, they had 4 flavors of homemade ice cream to pick from. The sesame was incredible and the roasted green tea really good too. I feel like most of the omakase I've been to have 2-3 seating for dinner, so all the customers for that time arrive at the same time and everyone is at the same point of the omakase. At Soichi, it seems like each party has their reservation at a different time (4:30, 4:45, 5:00, etc.) so each group is at a different part of their meal, not to mention some parties that ordered a la carte or a different omakase menu (sushi only option, etc.) As a result, the chef is bouncing around working on a bunch of different items, and we had to wait quite a bit for each of our nigiri courses. The whole meal took 2.5 hours. We also felt less of that group vibe with other parties that is common in other omakases. Overall, we still had a really lovely time and glad we got to try it!,

The other rolls were fantastic though, and all very good. Would definitely come again if in the area!

The rooftop has fire pits too which is always nice. We got some drinks and i love the appetizers we got which is the pizza one and yellowtail Serrano. Then I got the charred yellowtail roll which was delicious too. The nigiri chefs selection was nice and fresh as well.

Came here for San Diego Restaurant week in January 2026. Three course for $65…read more We ordered: 1st -Chicken karaage - hard crunch just straight up fried chicken skin and chicken jerky due to the dryness. No flavor unless you dip. It was like eating chicharron. -Egg plant skewers - Couldn't tell it wasn't meat, it had the firm and tender texture with Unami flavors. 2nd -Rock shrimp tempura - this would taste better with rice. Almost like honey walnut shrimp. Ate like 3 and got full. Too much batter. -Big eye tuna tataki - nothing stood out 3rd -Surf and turf roll - by the time we got this dish, we were already disappointed not satisfied. -Kim chi chaufa - basic fired rice with the crispy burnt rice at the bottom. For a place this upscale, I wasn't impressed with the restaurant week menu. The food was under whelming. Sad to say that our favorite dish out of all were the egg plant skewers. I would rate 2 for the food but increase due to the view and ambiance. We looked around and saw every table with the pretty sushi box. I expected the menu not to offer all cooked dishes. This would go down as one of our least favorite restaurant week dining experience. No parking in this area so we took an uber. I can't believe we spent over $100 each and left disappointed and hungry.
