Unfortunately I am writing a poor review for a local company. Economy Septic in Rochester did an inspection of the Septic system in the house we purchased a couple of months ago. They did call out a repair to the outlet baffle but failed to call out an issue with the inlet. An issue that contributed to a plug that caused sewage to back up out our clean out tube. The company that came out to detect the problem and ultimately fix it was shocked that if inspected it was left. The company states they did inspect it and it was a judgement call and that because there hadn't been a problem they decided to leave it. They couldn't provide pictures or proof that it had been inspected and wouldn't even come out to look it person after I sent photos. The problem was the inlet tube went in to far and didn't allow the waste to drop. It took 15 sec to cut and if Economy Septic would have called it out on their inspection it wouldn't have been an issue. Here are pictures of what they felt was ok. read more

From start to finish, this family owned business (husband, wife, and college son) is the best. When I called to get an estimate, Denise was so friendly and helpful. I had so many questions, and she was so patient with me. I've never had to deal with this type of service before, and boy did I learn a lot. After calling around to several businesses, I found Economy to have the best pricing. A flat fee for up to 1,200 gallons, compared to $0.45 for EVERY gallon. Out of curiosity, I decided to hang out in the yard while Jack and his son did their work. I asked so many questions, and he was quick to answer every one of them. They were very good about cleaning up. The only sign that work was done is by the footprints left in the grass. I have a great respect for what they do. Woke up to my Septic Alarm going off. Called Economy Septic since we had them out 3 years ago to pump our septic. They were booked and were still able and willing to get get me in the same day. At my house by 11am. They checked everything and determined that the switch for the septic had been turned off. That was it, quick 2 second fix. STAY AWAY! I had this company come out to pump my septic for the sale of our home. They showed up with a septic truck with a trailer in tow. I ask if they had enough room to back down my driveway, and was told no problem. This guy came within an inch of hitting my brand new car. I had to scream and smack his truck to get him to stop. He was in the process of jackknifing the trailer into my car. Not a good way to get things started. They spent about an hour at my home and that is being generous. After pumping our three bedroom septic, we were given a bill for a little more than $1100 plus tax. The bill came to 1210.08. No repairs were needed on this septic,as well as no digging. How they can justify this is beyond comprehension. What should have cost 400 to 600 at the most, ended up double that. If anyone would like to see the invoice I will happily share it with you. The owner after checking the levels in my septic tank told me that my tank did not necessarily need to be pumped. I appreciated his honesty. HOMEOWNER'S BEWARE...On the morning of April 7, 2014 I called Economy Septic Inc. to get the cost to pump my septic tanks and talked to owner Denise as my husband just called that morning and they had a 3:00 pm time available so he made the appointment. This is a husband and wife owned company. She told me that it would cost $355 for main tank and $195 for any additional tank. I called at 2:30 to confirm appointment time and they said they were minutes away from my house. I said that I was 20 minutes away and I was on my way back home. Denise ask me if they can start and I said NO do not start until I was there. When I pulled into my drive way I see they are already on my property with tank lids open and looking at the job. For one thing I didn't like them going onto my property when I told them not too. So here I am not really educated about septic pumping and I only know from this morning phone call the price. I called 3 other Septic pumping companies and got some bids to make sure that their price was the going rate for this area. So I walked down to where my septic tanks are located and the husband Jack does all the sales talking. Now he tells me that, oh your tanks are full now my price is going to be higher and asked him why? I said "Please explain as I am not educated on this as my husband usually takes care of this". So now Jack is probably thinking $$ as she doesn't know anything and then tells me he has to use a special machine to loosen (agitate) the solids that are on top of the tank. That is an extra $200. OMG I am really surprise as I am not expecting an extra $200 for this and now the extra tank is going to cost me $335 not the $195 that Denise quoted me that morning. I felt I was pressured into this as they were already on my job site ready to do the work. I should have said no as my gut instincts felt something was wrong. I felt like I was being taken advantage of since I am a female and not knowing what is going on. I asked him several times if he could give me a discount as he was too high and he said that I am giving you a fair price for my work. I asked why is the phone quote different and he said it would be like you going to buy a car and they give you a price over the phone and then you go look at it and the sales guy gives you a different price when you get there....REALLY why didn't I see that he was giving me the old "BAIT AND SWITCH" tactic ... Yes, I was stupid and should of not used that company. After they left I did call the 3 other companies to verify if they would charge these extra fees for the job. They all said NO that the $200 agitate fee is not an extra fee but part of the job for pumping. One man told me that you always have few feet of solid on top of tank it should not have been an extra charge fee. Also the extra $160 for full tank is extra money for being female....The other 3 companies charges would have been between $469-$600 was the quotes. I paid $897.78 and with tax $968.70 they even charged $17.78 to use a credit card. I called Jack the next day to tell him my concerns that I thought he pretty much ripped me off and took advantage of me. He said he did not care he said he gave me fair price and that I let him do it. I could not believe that this business owner did not care. Jack was rude and arrogant and told me he didn't care if I made a complaint about him and his company and said "it's your right too". He said I been doing this 10 years and he just didn't care whatever I did. I told him that I would put on internet of my bad experience with him and he still didn't care. I can't believe a business owner would say this to me I just couldn't believe my ears. OMG who would say that. I feel this is the best solution is to put it out there that this company use "BAIT AND SWITCH" sales tactics on me. I am so upset that I was taken advantage of.
