This place should be condemned. I made the reservation through hotels.com 6 months ago knowing it would be foliage in Vermont and rooms would be more expensive. I was charged $219 a night and there wasn't even any soap on the sink or shampoo in the shower. The room looked nothing like was posted on their website. The day I checked in there was an intoxicated man standing outside. I checked in with a girl, she showed me where my room was and immediately left. I couldn't get the wifi password and walked to the lobby to look for someone to help me and the intoxicated man that had been outside was in the lobby and asked me if I needed help. I said no and went back to my room. I proceeded to bring my things in from my car. The room smelled like stale booze and cigarettes. I had a king sized bed and the mattresses didn't even match and were ripped. There were no pictures on the walls and lots of stains and marks on the walls. I went to my engagement and came back at 9:00pm. I did not feel safe at all. Did not even get under the covers afraid that I would get bed bugs or lice. I woke up very early the next morning and came back around noon. I stopped at the local farm stand next to the lodge and told them where I was staying and how bad it was. They said "I am so sorry, that place is bad news." They also told me that the state used this place to house homeless people during Covid and the police were constantly there. Clearly they have not cleaned it up since then. I left for my engagement at 3:00. Came back at 9:30 and did not feel safe or comfortable. I packed up my things and left. I have called hotel.com and the hotel and they both blame it on the other party. I want my $483 back. This place wasn't even worth $50 dollars a night. I will be filing a complaint with the state and the board of health. Shame on hotels.com and this disgusting place. Do not stay here!! The most disgusting place I have ever encountered. Our room was clean and quiet. So that's the good news. The bad is just about everything else, starting with the fact that this roadside motel is way overpriced. Then there's the desk clerk, who is hard to find. We had to ring buzzers and bells, and even then he was slow to show or never did. His extended scrutiny of our drivers license for a pre-paid reservation set off alarm bells. Be careful here. The lobby smelled of mildew/mold. The room key didn't work. The heater worked sporadically. The lobby breakfast area looked distressing, and we avoided it. We think you should avoid the motel. We prefer the nearby Chalet Motel, or if you can spring for it, the costlier Hampton (which is also a bit overpriced, we think). read more

Bed bugs. I stayed at this EconoLodge on 12/27 and woke up at 3 AM because I was itchy all over. I discovered I had 31 bed bug bites on my face, hands, forearms, ankles, foot and back. How do I know they were bed bugs? I found them upon frantically stripping the bed at three in the morning. I brought the bugs I had caught to the owner promptly at 7 am. He immediately offered a refund and didn't appear surprised at all. As I left he asked, "You won't post, right?" There was no assurance that he would fumigate right away or even that he would not rebook them room that day. It was room 3. I've spent my vacation day the laundromat ($30), at the car wash ($15), and hovering over my stove boiling my winter hiking boots (it didn't work). My trip has been cut short and I'm paranoid about infesting my own apartment. I had to toss my luggage, my foam roller, my sleeping pad, my pillow, a wool sweater, 2 wool hats, my food, my sunglasses case, my winter two-layer boots, my winter hiking boots, my emergency bivy sack and more. I estimate this has cost me at least $600. I hope nobody ever stays here again. read more

DONT DO IT! Disgusting!!!! Upon entering lobby there was a strong odor of mildew. Rang bell and woman who appeared looked like she just rolled out of bed in stained clothes and bare feet. Entered room and it was even more mildewy smelling than the lobby. Paint peeling from bathroom ceiling, torn and worn bedspread, sheets with stains. This Econo Lodge is has new owners! It is wonderful! Jay and Katy took over in September 2019. They are extremely kind and accommodating. We were doing a section of the AT and arrived 2 hours before check-in. Jay allowed us to check in early. Also, when we needed a ride back to the trail in the morning, he only charged us $10 (half of what the other drivers were charging). My son and I stayed here for two nights because we were visiting the area. Reasonable rates, comfortable beds, and extremely clean room. NO evidence of bed bugs, I always check. Due to covid-19 restrictions, breakfast was not available but we were offered a bag of breakfast food. Owners are attentive and friendly. I would give less than one star but you can't. This place is dirty, smelly and a huge disappointment in every way. The bed is super uncomfortable, showers are moldy. I felt like I was getting bit by bugs all night and woke up with bug bites on my legs.......A single family takes care of the whole place and their two children follow you around and tell you not to touch or look at anything. The pool is very dirty, and the continental breakfast is not available( including coffee) ... it's pretty gross . Clean room and pleasant staff. BUT I would have had a softer sleep on concrete, the mattresses were so hard. I, and my party of 4 we're completely broken the next day from both queen-sized beds. In their defense, it did look as if they may be redecorating...hopefully with new mattresses. As for the included breakfast, barely adequate. Did not offer WiFi password. I set up a reservation for an employee on a Friday and received a confirmation email from EconoLodge. I called on Saturday morning just to confirm that my employee would be admitted into the room - and they had cancelled my reservation without telling me. The CC I used was declined, and I told them I had another I could use, but I guess the room was not available anymore. No communication, no warning. Unprofessional. read more

Go Elsewhere!! This is by far the worst experience I have had with a hotel. So distasteful, I didn't go. The management was unresponsive, and the rest of the staff useless or unavailable. Most concerning, they require a surprising 15-day cancellation notice, which is not well disclosed, and makes you wonder if it is a part of their business plan. Even for a place to just sleep on a ski weekend this place is tough. Had two rooms. Had to unplug the phones in both rooms. They rang once every 10 minutes. Beds are awful. This place sucks. This place was perfect for what we needed it for. A place to sleep at night that was relaxing and reasonably priced. The front desk was very friendly and accommodating. It was a little stuffy but winter is just getting over. The breakfast in the morning was good (bagels, cereal, waffle maker). The bed was clean and comfortable. The most remarkable thing was I left my purse and scarf there and they held on to it for me. Even offered to drive it down to me in New York! I definitely recommend for a place to rest your head as you go explore VT. read more

-100 Stars. Possibly the rudest, greediest, hardest to understand people I have ever experienced. Flat out lied to my wife an I both about the cancellation policy. Tried to cancel a reservation more than 24 hours before arrival and they claimed a 14 DAY !!!! cancellation policy. When informed that this 'policy' was not shown anywhere on the booking site, the were very confrontational and rude. They told us to call choicehotels.com, but that was also a lie. I am sure they will go out of business soon, saving any future patrons the pain of possibly having to deal with these A$$holes. I will be disputing this with my credit card company and staying somewhere where at least some English is spoken and the management is more concerned with customer service than trying to steal 150 bucks. read more

Was on my way home from a hiking trip in New Hampshire when I came upon this EconoLodge, will admit it's not my preferred chain but it typically has decent rooms none the less. Anyway, I am rating this hotel a 1 star because when checking in, for whatever reason the desk clerk took a photocopy of my Drivers License and then the credit card after having already swiped the card in the system and it went through successfully. There is no reason to obtain a photocopy of a Credit Card, why he need the Drivers License is also beyond me. In addition to that "possible" identity theft red flag once I got to my room I found it to smell moldy and dank like a wet basement. Inside the bathroom I found a light cover filled with probably 40-60 dead bugs in it and the back of the door had the moulding removed and just haphazardly set in the corner. The walls were gross covered in dirt, grime, etc and looked like there was no attempts at ever cleaning them. The A/C system moaned and groaned like it was on its last breath all night. All of this for $139.99 a night. I'd recommend moving on before ever staying here but if no other option is presented you have to do what you have to do. read more

I don't even want to give this motel one star! Worst place I've ever stayed in. To start the manager tried charging us $130.00 for a room. So I went outside and booked a room online for $102.00. Came back in, got a key, walked to the room and I couldn't believe my eyes. No sheets on the bed, blankets tossed on the floor, puke or something on the carpet and dirty toilet paper on the floor. The room smelled so bad I couldn't even breath. Came back to the WORST front desk clerk and he gave us another room. The toilet was clogged and he tried saying it was our fault. Bed was gross. Floor is gross. Dead bugs on the floor! I could go on and on but basically DO NOT STAY HERE! I've stayed in motels before but I've NEVER seen anything like this. Consider this a warning. read more

This only is getting one star because zero is not an option. I would like to begin by noting that I have never voiced a complaint like this ever before about a hotel. Upon arrival into our room we found a large hole in the wall, broken furniture, and spider webs in our room. We had just arrived from a 10 hour drive and figured we could deal with that in the morning since there weren't other hotels with rooms available for that day. The following morning we left very early about 5am and did not return until around 1pm. When we did return we found ants throughout the bathroom and on our belongings. The ants were coming out of the walls between the carpeting and the base of the wall. When we went to complain about this issue, the woman who was at the front desk would not help us and even accused us of lying about these issues. She refused to let us speak to any other staff of the hotel or a manager. She would not give us a refund for the night we stayed and wants us to pay for an additional night that we would not be staying. Furthermore, the breakfast that was being offered was made up of stale cereal which leads me to believe that they do not check to see if the food is fresh before giving it to guests. There was an outdoor pool on the property that was filled with green, dirty water and lacked a ladder to be able to get in and out of (which i'm pretty sure is a safety violation) I think the entire Econo Lodge in Manchester needs to be addressed through the management and how the place is being kept up. I would not recommend this place to anyone. No refund or apology from the woman behind the counter! read more

Not impressed. There were scribbles on the walls in our bathroom and a hole in another wall. I checked for bed bugs and found long hair that wasn't mine in the sheets. We only had one roll of toilet paper and three tiny towels for the four of us. The hair dryer didn't work. There was no soap in the lobby bathroom when we checked in so I gave them a heads up. Two days later when we checked out, the soap dispenser was still bone dry. The staff pretty much ignores you and their idea of room service is to knock on your door and ask "Want me to make your beds, or no?" Overall, not the worst place in the world but certainly not worth the steep price. read more

I stayed at this hotel from 1/23 to 1/27 in January 2019 and the hotel charged my credit card for the entire stay two times in the same exact amounts on two separate days. They refuse to credit my charge card for the 2nd duplicate charge. Be forewarned that this was clearly not by accident and now requires wasted time and energy submitting claims to my credit card company, Vermont Attorney General, Vermont Better Business Bureau, and Vermont Small Claims Court. Certainly I did not expect Hilton grade accommodations but this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in the last 20 years. On the surface, the room was "clean" but I found the floor to be covered in dog hair (I didn't bring a dog). It was also a non-smoking room yet there was the odor of smoke which set my allergies off. The lobby was locked most mornings so I could not access the ice machine or the alleged breakfast. Overpriced for what we got. Would not stay there again unless I was desperate. read more

This overpriced place had filthy pillows, sheets with human hair all over them which were clearly not changed and the towels also had long black hairs on them. There was a hole in the wall, a hole in the bathroom door and the carpets were ripped. I had a non-smoking room but there were burn marks all over the desk. I'm a pretty mellow person and not much bothers me all I wanted was a clean bed to sleep in. The biggest problem I had was the nasty lady at the desk who couldn't just be nasty when I checked in but had to wake me up with her nasty voice way too early in the morning and way before checkout. I was almost glad she did wake me up when she did because I was being bitten to death by whatever bugs live in that room. Huge rip off to be in a dirty room and spoken to the way I was. You've got to be kidding!!! I did not call ahead for availability and pricing -- I was traveling through Vermont to Canada and simply stopped and tried to find lodging on Yelp. Based on the other two reviews here, I walked into this place. The manager charged me $109 -- $120.99 with tax!!!! I stayed at a Hilton Garden Hotel last weekend for less. The manager is Indian -- a nice enough guy (except I know he ripped me off) -- but I couldn't understand his English well enough to figure out how to get to my room. To be fair, the room is clean enough, but the entire place is pretty beat up. One of the bedside lamps doesn't work. The bathroom is clean but small, with only a standing shower stall. It's an old single level motel -- a string of side by side rooms with the office centrally located. An inside hallway has been constructed so that the rooms open to the hallway, not directly to the parking area, but still.... This place has absolutely no charm or class. I am sitting here feeling like a total chump. I hope the owner/manager reads this. read more

It is literally falling apart; inside and out there is visible rot and holes in walls, the entire facility reeks of musty mold spores. Green, algae-ridden pool. Rooms are small, dated and gross. Gary, (owner), held my cc and driver's license so long during check in that I finally asked, "Isn't the room pre-paid for?" I got a terse yes in response without him looking up from the computer and cc machine that he continued to tap away on. Huge red flag right there...I'll be following up with my cc company to make sure he wasn't doing anything illegal. If you're a meth head or looking for a place to shoot up, enjoy. Stayed 1 night on a fall leaf drive. Room was clean and nice but the Indian proprietor was a real dick. I reserved the room and gave a cc number ahead of time, then at 1:30 pm on the day of check-in he called me to see if I still wanted the room; duh... Then the next morning he opened the door to my room 3 seconds after a light knock; how rude !! I don't know if this was a cultural misunderstanding or what, but was rude and totally unappreciated. When I went to the lobby for coffee at 7:30 am there wasn't any and no one was at the desk; when I went back at 8:30 the pot was already empty and the lobby was FILLED with Indian people; there must have been 15!! That's fine and all, but left me with the distinct impression that this is an Indian establishment run by Indian people for other Indian people. You do NOT get what you pay for at this MOTEL - note, it is NOT a hotel. Had I known it was a motel, I would not have booked rooms. It is old and smells. My girls' room smelled like cat urine, had bugs, old, cheap, pillows and the beds were rock hard. Their room was situated near what seemed to be the family's storage of old flower pots, bikes and other junk. It was unprofessional and nasty. My room was in the main building and smelled musty, had only a stand up shower in a teeny, tiny bathroom. The toilet was wobbly and had a cheap, plasic seat. The toilet paper and tissue was the cheapest you can buy. The shampoo (no conditioner) was worth 2 uses. We didn't even try the breakfast based on the room conditions. The husband & wife clean the rooms, book reservations and prepare breakfast by themselves. We arrived on a day where it was 90 degrees and could not use the pool because it was disgusting. The value of EconoLodge is worth $50/night. The amount charged does not reflect the value of this run-down establishment. Manchester is a high-end Vermont town, so a lot of hotels are pricey so take that into consideration. I had no idea and so I went 'mid-price' - but this was overpriced for the condition. Try the Hilton in town...that looked much better. If you are just 2 - there are a lot of B&Bs too. read more

Room seemed to be clean. Put on the backside of the motel and no one else there which was kind of creepy. No outside light. No postings in the room for wifi code - had to call desk. Nothing posted about times for breakfast. Checked out on Saturday about 9:30am and the manager had "just" picked up breakfast because no one had checked out. Not only did the rooms have holes in the wall, cobwebs in the corners, headboards mounted crooked, rips in the carpet, mold, and ants infesting the rooms, the management is extremely rude and did not even care that their facilities were unfit to stay in. The lodge looks disgusting as you drive in to it and is as disgusting in the bedrooms. The sheets did not fit the beds and the comforters smelled like they had never been laundered. The outdoor swimming pool was a shade of green and lacked a ladder to even get in or out of the untreated swimming pool. Woke up in the morning with multiple bites on my legs and arms. When management was approached about the unfit bedrooms and insect infestation, they simply did not care at all. Not even an apology. The woman was extremely rude and proceeded to accuse me of lying about the complaints. After encouraging her to come to the room to witness the ants covering the floors, she refused to leave her desk chair. She additionally would not refund us for the room and wanted to charge us for the staying two nights even though we would not be staying. Had to book a hotel room 30 minutes away in order to be in a clean hotel room. Not only was the hotel expensive, it was not up to health codes. Had to call the corporate office to launch a complaint about this Choice Hotel. Do not stay at this Econo Lodge. read more
