I had an extremely disappointing experience with this dry cleaner, and the way they handled the situation was even more frustrating than the damage itself.
I originally dropped off four items for cleaning. When I went to pick them up, I was told that one of the items needed to be run through the cleaning process again. I asked the clerk why, but she said she didn't know and was simply told to have me come back the following day. She also told me I could pay for all four items at that time and pick up the remaining item when I returned. I paid in full.
A couple of days later, I returned to pick up the last item, only to have someone bring out my sweater completely ruined, with dark spots all over it. I was told that my sweater had been run through the cleaning process with another item and that the spots had transferred from that item.
I immediately explained that I expected to be compensated for my damaged garment. The employee then asked whether I had a receipt, as though customers are expected to keep receipts for every article of clothing they own. I explained that I did not have the receipt but that the damage was caused by their establishment, and I expected them to take responsibility.
I was then offered a store credit for future cleaning. Seriously? After ruining my sweater, why would I want to trust this business with any of my other clothing? I told them I did not want a cleaning credit; I wanted to be compensated for the garment they had ruined. I was also told that the owner was out of the country. The employee then offered to look online to determine what my sweater was worth. I explained that I knew what I had paid for it and expected fair compensation.
Despite everything, I agreed to give them one more opportunity to fix the sweater. I was subsequently called and told that the sweater had been repaired and was ready for pickup.
When I returned, I discovered that although some of the original stains had been removed, the sweater had even more spots and additional water damage. What made matters worse was that the sweater had been folded in a way that concealed the damaged areas when it was handed to me. I specifically asked the employee to remove it from the plastic and unfold it so I could inspect it. I immediately took several photographs documenting the condition of the garment.
After returning home, I called and asked who the owner was. Based on the description I was given, I realized that the person I had been speaking with the previous day, who told me the owner was out of the country, was actually the owner herself.
At this point, I am beyond disappointed. The original damage was bad enough, but the lack of accountability, the unwillingness to provide reasonable compensation, the repeated unsuccessful attempts to fix the garment, and the misleading information made this experience even worse.
Mistakes happen, but how a business handles those mistakes speaks volumes about its integrity and customer service. I gave this business multiple opportunities to make things right, and instead, I was left with a ruined sweater and an extremely frustrating experience.
I would strongly caution anyone considering using this dry cleaner. Your clothing is your property, and you should be able to trust that it will be handled with care and that the business will take responsibility if something goes wrong. read more
