I found this nail salon on yelp when my go-to salon in midtown closed early the day I needed some pampering. Was glad that this one located across the street from the restaurant where I was meeting up friends for dinner afterwards. Not sure how this place gets 4.5 stars. It's a rather small place in a building that offers pedicure (a few chairs) and pedicure (a few tables) plus the back area as a hair salon. I'm sorry but I think this is the only salon I've been to that required me to hold a little fan to dry my nails. Really??? They can't afford a small machine? Also, there is only one restroom outside in the hallway for customers. And guess what, the sink is located outside the restroom and someone connected the faucet to a small washing machine so I couldn't wash my hands! I was going to give it two stars but the staff was nice and did a pretty good job. Made a last minute appointment here because my usual nail salon was completely booked. I appreciate that they were able to accommodate me and my friend. I had hard gels nails that needed to be removed which the nail tech did a good job. However, I am quite disappointed with the nail filing she did. Because we were the last appointment for the day and it was 7:50 PM already, she mentioned that we'd have to finish quickly. My experience is that when your nail tech is in a rush, it's never good. I didn't realize she had filed my nails unevenly until I had left and gone home. Now I need to fix them myself because it bothers me too much. The other nail tech that did the gel mani for me was nice but she tried to do an artistic design different from what I asked for but it didn't turn out so great. Although very nice ladies, I would recommend they practice more on their services because I wouldn't mind coming back, but would definitely stick to simple gel manis and say no to nail designs. read more

My friend & I went to Eclair Nails yesterday for gel mani + regular pedi. We both had a bad experience & aren't happy with our nails 1) awful communication & services took way too long. Since my normal place was booked we took a chance on Eclair. By mistake we both made appointments for 2 people & didn't realize that until we arrived at 6:25pm (we got there 5min early). Only 1 other lady was getting a service with 3 nail technicians there working, so we thought great, in & out right?! Nope. After we were both in the pedi chairs soaking with water, another young lady arrived & asked for full set with designs. They began to speak to her in a language we couldn't understand but definitely got the point when oddly the tech who started on my friend got up, went to another station & began to work on the other girl! No one came back for 25min! Other delays occurred & we ended up being there until 9pm 2) shortcuts in service causing nails to look no better than when we arrived. My my nails were never soaked or cuticles weren't properly cut (see photo). No bottom coat on toes. Uneven filing (to the point where I filed on my own). Sloppy gel with top coat that doesn't cover the full nail & paint on the sides of my fingers. We were there too long to get such bad work. 3) sketchy payment. I tipped half my norm in cash even though they really didn't deserve it. I was told my total was $74. When I questioned that b/c of the posted prices saying $64, she reduced to $69 & said the extra $5 was for soaking off prior gel. I went to pay with my card & she told me to pay by venmo (shady given a cc machine was there). It processed immediately on my end & I showed her my phone but she insisted I stay until she could see it on her phone all while admitting they bad cell/wifi. The owner, ShinYoung Kang (I hope I spelled it correctly) always makes my boyfriend feel right home. She's sweet, her staff is knowledgeable and sometime she even brings her puppies, Cashew and Peanut to the shop which is such a treat! The shop itself is cute, clean and brightly decorated. The tools are properly cleans via an ultrasonic. And their vibe is welcoming of all ethnicities which in some settings can be an issue but not here! Made me wait 20 minutes for someone who knew how to do gel pedicures after making an appointment. 3.They don't soak your cuticles prior to cutting them. Process is painful and cuticles are not fully cut 4.Do not sanitize all cutting utensils. 5. Did not wash tub after performing a pedicure prior to mine 6. Called prior to making an appt. they told me over the phone it would $76 for my pedicure and manicure if I paid cash. Ended up charging me $81 7. Usually, I am very picky about choosing the nail salon. This place was cozy but with cute interior, nice and clean condition. The employees were very nice and polite. My technition (Aileen) did a very good job on getting my nails done. I've never seen any place in Manhattan that removes my cuticles this clean and perfect. I haven't been here yet, but they advertise as being open until 10:30pm. So, I called them to ask if I can get a pedicure around 9ish pm and lady that answered the phone said she wouldn't be open until 10:30 just for a pedicure. This is ok but simply don't mislead people with the hours of operation and pick and choose clients to take in based on what services they get. OR put a disclaimer in your Yelp account and say something along the lines of "I will stay open until 10:30 if you make me a lot money. $100 and over. Today was grand opening of this new nail salon, and I was very lucky to know this place! They are placed in K town, most busy place in midtown. So far I couldn't find nail salon around 32nd street, so I was very happy to hear that they are in K town. First of all, salon's interior was gorgeous,conceptual(pink), and very cozy. I fall in love when I stepped inside. They have very unique display of nail polishes, and I love that section most. Chair was comfortable, and also they have waiting section with yummy snacks Also they have a lot of high quality brand polish colors( O.P.I and Essie etc), and jewels I can choose. Most important point for me was how professional they are, and without doubt I can give them 5 stars. She who did my gel mani was very nice ans professjonal. I came here once before with a friend and the service was good. I had known that the boss lady doesn't speak much english, but she was nice enough, so I decided to come back again since it is near my work place. I even called ahead for an appointment. I arrived promptly at 6pm but was made to wait for 45mins. I observed several calls coming in for appointments, and while the lady answered all the calls and agreed to appointments, she did not record any of it. That's when I realized the whole act was just to give people the impression that you could actually make appointments when in fact, nothing is being recorded and appointments don't really matter. When I finally sat down at the table, the lady ran off to do another customer's hair. Yes, it is also a hair salon. 15mins later, she came back, and we spent the next 5mins trying to communicate. I compromised on the design I wanted just to simplify things. She then told me that she didn't like the colors I chose and kept insisting I pick another color. Before the whole thing started, I told her I didn't want my cuticles to be cut. She didn't like that and insisted on cutting them, and she only stopped when it was obvious it was hurting me for real. Oh, and she didn't want to shorten my nails even though I really wanted it to be short. She did eventually cut my nails... but I wish I had cut it myself to avoid all the drama. Other manicurists I've been to have never had issues with me having short nails. After applying the base coat, she decided she couldn't paint my nails and told me to sit aside to wait for the other manicurist to finish with a customer. It made no sense but I saw that there was no point in arguing. She then proceeded to do the nails of someone who came in after me, but from the looks of it, they knew each other. What should have been a 45min affair took a whole 2hrs. I didn't even really like what I walked away with. Waste of money, waste of time. The lady still had the cheek to ask me for a 5-star review even though I was clearly unhappy. I had remained polite through all of it, so maybe she mistook that for me being satisfied with things. Who knows. Look, I appreciate and respect the hustle. I truly do. But it's clear that she can't do it all and she shouldn't try to because this is completely unprofessional. Loved the lady that did my nails - she works very hard and I think she did a great job with mine (simple pink mani pedi). However, the shop felt disorganized and they were really short staffed. The main lady that picked up the phone speaks mostly Korean (badly broken English) so it can be hard to schedule an apt (not to mention it seemed they weren't on top of what they had actually scheduled - someone came in for a scheduled haircut and was told to come back in an hour. He ultimately got his hair cut on time since he insisted, but then another lady who had come in for nails had to wait). Also, they're not super clear on which bottles are premium, and when they warned me right before they put it on, they told me $5 extra. But then it turned out to be $10 extra (unclear why - maybe it's bc they did both mani and pedi so $5 for each? Or maybe it was $5 for the special color but they also have to use a special overcoat which is another $5?). So long story short, the nails themselves turned out great/fine, but I probably won't be back for fear of being stuck in an inefficient process/line and lack of clarity around pricing. read more

One of the worst gel manicures I've ever gotten. The filing and gel removal was so aggressive, and I had two different technicians shaping my nails...so they didn't end up very even. The skin around my fingernails feel raw because of how hard they filed my nails...The entire process was sloppy, and I didn't appreciate them getting frustrated when I voiced how I want my nails to look or for them to fix something. The polish job was so sloppy and uneven, I saw that she wasn't polishing my entire nail with the top coat because it illuminates when under the UV light. My colleague and I stopped by Eclair Nail's during our lunch break for a manicure - I was told "appointment only", so I made an appointment through Yelp. My overall experience was not very good one. The lady who did my nails was not gentle. The whole process was rushed and she was not a nice lady. She kept yanking my hands during switch offs and when I brushed one hand over the other, she rudely snapped at me for transferring the oil on my skin onto my fingernails... My colleague and I were shocked by the service received and my colleague thought I shouldn't leave a tip, but I felt bad and left a tip anyway. They had a slot open for tonight @ 8:30 which I reserved, since I get off work late. I only came there as a last resort cause I knew my normal nail salon wouldn't be able to take me at the time I intended to arrive.
