Only if there was a 0 rating on this. I had a very disappointing experience with this bus. One…read moreevening on 12/03/25 at exactly 6:05pm, their machine failed to scan my valid weekly ticket, forcing me to pay extra for my journey. However, the same ticket worked perfectly fine for all other trips that week including earlier that day at 6:35am. When I contacted their customer service for a refund, they took an unreasonably long time to respond to my email (They responded on 25/03/25 at 9:55am). Worse still, they avoided my calls entirely for some reason when I tried to explain the issue--until I called from a private number, at which point they finally answered talked to a staff referred to himself as Josh but refused a refund stating that the Leap-card number on their website is different from what I use. I have been using same Leap-card since 12/08/24 to purchase their weekly tickets (Every week) as I work in Limerick and use these buses every single day to and from Limerick for work, but no issue ever happened (Except on this day at 6:05pm). This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable from a public transport provider. If a company is happy to take extra money due to their own system failures, then refuses to engage properly with customers, it speaks volumes about their lack of professionalism. Be warned: if something goes wrong, don't expect an easy resolution from this company.

We started in Dublin made our way to Waterford, Cork, Limerick to Galway and back to Dublin. The Butler's bus was comfortable, spacious, and provided ample seating for everyone to spread out. Our drivers name was Peadar Homan, and he was an absolute delight. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable on the history of Ireland, the people, the culture, and it's architecture. He was very professional, punctual, willing to work with our special requests, and provided recommendations for the group. Often times going out of his way to help make our trip seamless and enjoyable. Our family tour of Southern Ireland was amazing and memorable. The family is in agreement that Peadar definitely added to the overall experience. Would highly recommend using Butler's tours for your travel needs and if possible requesting Peadar Homan as your driver.

The company refused to cancel the tour, citing their cruise policy only applies if the cruise does not disembark at all. With their refusal to cancel and no reduced fee for the tour, despite the fact it was a 3 hour tour instead of the day trip planned, going to none of the stops that were on the itinerary, I can confidently state this is not a cruise friendly company, nor a customer oriented one. Although it isn't the guides fault (or ours), our guide took us to a little town where virtually everything is closed. A reputable tour company does not do this. Everyone knows that a good tour company is one that understands a win-win is possible in these circumstances (more than one win-win option available in these circumstances), but greed took over for Butlers. Highly avoid!

St Kevins Bus is the easiest way to get to Glendalough from Dublin city. It beats taking any other…read moretransport because it goes through the scenic countryside and drops you off in front of the attraction's tourist centre. Unlike the public bus that takes ages and drops you off miles from your destination, this bus service allows you to get there without the stress. St Kevins Bus departs from Dawson Street at 11.30 am in the summer months. It takes an hour and a half to get to Glendalough because it makes a stop at Roundhouse in Wicklow to pick up more passengers. A return journey costs 20 Euro and pick-up is at 4.30 or 5.30 pm. I highly recommend this mode of travel. The buses are clean and air-conditioned. There's plenty of available seats and the journey is quiet and relaxing.

This is such a good service and one I've been meaning to take advantage of for years…read more The bus leaves Dawson street at 11:30, which was a good time for us, gave us enough time to have a little lie in, make a decent breakie to set us up for the day and then make our pack lunch. We arrived roughly before 13:00, bought a walking map from the visitors centre and headed off on our 9KM walked around the lakes and the Glenealo Valley. If the distances on the map are correct and I would say that they are, from the drop off point of the bus, we did 12KM in all and boy do our legs feel it today. Anyway I digress... so the bus then departs Glendalough at 17:30 to go back to Dublin, which gives you 4.5 hours to see the place. Which is more than enough to tootle around the monastery, the nearby lakes and waterfall. It's just enough time to do the Spinc and Glenealo Valley (White Route) at good pace. I was taken aback by the price of the bus ticket though, 20EUR return from Dawson street. I think this is steep, even for Dublin. But I guess if you are the only direct bus service from Dublin to Glendalough, you can get away with it. I would probably use this service more often if it was cheaper. So I dropped a star for that. My partner made the point that if you've got four/five people altogether who want to go to Glendalough, it would be just as easy and more flexible to hire a car for one day. I am inclined to agree with him. * please check prices and timetables on their website in case any of what I've mentioned has changed!
