I encountered one of the ECL vehicles today blocking a disabled parking bay at the Raddison Hotel Golden Lane . I am a disabled sriver so this annn no issue that affects me day in and day out . However the attitude I got when I pointed pointed out he couldnt park in a disabled parking bay was simply appalling . I initially did what any reasonable person would do and waited a few minutes to see if the driver would return and then I called the company who said they would call the driver . eventually after waiting 15/20 minutes I was forced to try and get parking elsewhere which thankfully I did but it was for me as someone with mobility issues very difficult to get back .
When I eventually identified the driver his attitude stunk to high heaven . Not once ounce of contrition , no a simple apology . all he done was point out the other vehicle parked there , with a blue badge and say " what about him " . after trying to tell him that vehicle had a blue badge and every right to be in their bay he dismissed me like I was something he couldn't be bothered to deal with .
I had taken a photo of the vehicle blocking the bay and emailed the company several hours ago asking that a complaint be registered . I have not had as much as an acknowledgment from the company to say my email had been received . The law on the issue is simple and clear . nobody without a blue badge can park on a disabled parking bay and you must not either block a disabled parking bay . this is something this company appears unable or unwilling to accept which is simply appalling . The drivers and it appears the management need to know the law as regards disabled parking bays . And they need to know it fast .
