Friday night's show of Rainbow Kitten Surprise at the Echoplex reminded me why I love live music. The venue itself has that classic underground L.A. vibe--dark, intimate, and gritty in the best way. The sound filled the room perfectly, heavy on the bass but still clear enough to catch every lyric and detail from the stage. I just loved it so much! The energy was insane the moment the lights went down. Being that close to the artist felt almost unreal--there's no bad view in the place, and it really feels like you're part of the performance instead of just watching it. The crowd was hyped, responsive, and you could tell everyone was there for the music, not just the scene. I would definitely go back. Parking is very tricky. I lucked out and paid nothing at 9pm in a lot FREE after 9p up to 14 hrs

Came here for Emo Night. The place is clean and the staff did an impeccable job at keeping the bathrooms sanitary. The drinks are strong and delicious. I would recommend looking at the themed specials. Acoustics in this place is pretty well done. You get sound throughout the building without aggravating your ears. Had a blast overall!

I came here with the one, the only Dave Benitez last week on Andi's birthday to see Skating Polly. Much to my surprise after I had bought tickets, SP wasn't the headlining act. No, that would be Girl in a Coma. Bell Systems was the first act up. It's a nice, dungeony-feeling music space with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy your drinks or your conversation or the music from afar, if you so choose. It also feels like a deathtrap in a fire, but I chose not to continue to think of that when I had thought of that. The sound is very good for how much of an afterthought the stage looks like. I didn't order any drinks, but they have cool names to go along with their high prices. This was going to be a four-star review, but the physical location of Echoplex is confusing and ridiculous. It's tied to The Echo, with which it supposedly shares a building, but you can't get to Echoplex from The Echo or vice versa. Why is that important? Because while both parts of the building are at street level, they're on different streets. The Echo is on the top of the building, which is on Sunset Boulevard, but Echoplex is on Glendale Boulevard. But you can't just walk around the corner from one to the other. No, Glendale Boulevard passes under Sunset Boulevard, so in order to walk from the entrance of The Echo to Echoplex, you must walk west on Sunset, turn left on Park Avenue, then turn left, cross Glendale, and continue walking north until you reach Echoplex. It's literally a quarter-mile walk from the top floor of the building to the bottom floor, and because of the street layout, you're much more likely to be parked near The Echo than Echoplex. For you history buffs, it's really close to the Angelus Temple and Echo Park Lake. Bell Systems was OK. Skating Polly was awesome, although I wish they had played more than ten songs. We left before Girl in a Coma performed.

Came out for the American Hi-Fi & Eve 6 show at the Echoplex, and overall had a solid experience. First off, getting there can be a little tricky if you're not familiar with the area, tucked under Sunset Blvd., the Echoplex entrance is down a discreet alley off Glendale Blvd., with minimal signage. If you're not paying attention, you might miss the turn entirely. Parking can also be a hassle, so rideshare or arriving early is your best bet. The good news? They've fixed their ventilation issue. The air-conditioning was pumping last night, and it made a big difference. It didn't feel stuffy or overheated like in the past, which is huge for a packed, high-energy show. I was front and center and had a great view of the stage. The sound quality was decent, crisp enough for a smaller venue, though not the cleanest mix I've ever heard. The middle of the floor can have slightly distorted sound as the speakers banks are on the side of the sage. If you're standing toward the back, I can see how sightlines might be slightly obstructed depending on the crowd, but it's manageable. Bar service was efficient with multiple drink lines but be prepared for typical LA venue prices. A 16 oz. can of Liquid Death water set me back $6. All in all, I'd definitely come back for another show. The vibe is gritty but real, and the energy in the room when the band's playing is hard to beat.

I enjoy visiting this small venue. I've had a chance to watch a couple of my favorite bands, and it was a great time! The entrance is in the alley along Glendale Blvd. Parking is decent. There's metered parking on the nearby street and a lot just a block east of the venue (on Lemoyne St), with mobile app payment availability. If you're lucky, you may snag a spot for free (after a specific time) along Glendale Blvd and near Echo Park Lake. I usually park in the paid lot since it doesn't cost much and it's lit. Upon entering the venue, security and walk-through detectors only take a few seconds. They do check bags for content and size. Be sure to check the website for restrictions. The staff has been chill for the most part, as well. The bathrooms are clean, which is a big plus. Inside, the space is small but spacious when it isn't packed. It's been comfortable when I've been here. The stage is average height, but people in the back still get a decent view. The sound overall is good. There are a few muffled areas, but it is still enjoyable from anywhere. The inside ceiling support pillars block a little of the view but also have shelves to rest your drinks on. Some VIP seats are on the front side, and benches are along the back walls if you need to sit. There are also two bar areas to quench your thirst. Inflated drink prices are expected with venues like this, and all transactions are cashless, so be sure to bring your cards. If merch is available, it will be stationed along the back area. I am looking forward to more concerts here!

Came here to see Clipping. The venue was great and I don't have any complaints except having to walk around the building to enter, but you can exit through the other part of the venue? Didn't really make sense to me, but whatever.

BEWARE of this bartender with glasses. Worst experience EVER as a customer ordering a drink. I was waiting to get a drink in the side of the bar,the bartender saw me,came to me and started to almost yell at me,saying that that's not a place to order a drink(there's not a sign in place that says that) and that there's actually a line of people waiting to get a drink (there was not) and that's she's doing me a favor getting me a drink.I said I was sorry,I didn't know, and she proceeded to just get my drink and charge me being really mad,she snatched my card from my hand and didn't show me the machine to see the price and the tip.I did not get the chance to tip which I would have not tipped since that was an awful service and then she made me cry.Basically ruined my whole night. Later,my husband went to get another drink for him, never told her anything about me,and he also had an awful experience with her,she literally snatched his drink from him and didn't want to give it to him.Pretty ridiculous! I don't know what kind of venue this is that their staff treats their customers like this! I will NEVER come back here, and if you come here just make sure to NOT get a drink with her,Do NOT tip her and honestly,I hope she got fired by now, this incident happened in August.

I am rating this location based on what purpose it appears to serve, which is to be an almost grimy, underground concert venue that serves alcohol and caters to the artsy alternative people who have moved to live in this area (many ostensibly from out of state). I rarely go to concerts, but I knew I had to make the journey to see my girl, Rachel Chinouriri. The information surrounding this event could have better handled, namely I was confused about where the Echoplex was, and why it was impossible to access it from the Echo, even though they appear to be the same building. I had to walk around a block and go under a bridge to find this venue. Thankfully I am a cis man with good GPS-guided navigation skills, but my goodness it is not ideal trying to get to a concert in the evening like that. Separately, I wish people had better concert etiquette. Please do not fill the deliberate path I have preserved for safe exit. And please do not block my view that I had curated for maybe half an hour by standing and adjusting my position in the same spot. People have no social tact these days, my goodness. Honestly, I was happy enough to be in this space with the singers, although I forgot to bring a mask and was super paranoid about catching some airborne virus (COVID isn't over folx!). I luckily was healthy still after leaving. I enjoyed the experience of live music. I enjoyed crying to Rachel Chinouriri pontificating about love. I enjoyed singing along to my favorite songs of hers ("Hills" and "Never Need Me"), the latter of which appears to be her most popular song as everyone was noticeably singing along to it. Would I return here for another concert? Maybe if one of my favorite acts performs here. But Rachel Chinouriri was a rare opportunity and I don't think I want to bother with trying to find parking (or driving in general) in Echo Park ever again.

Are there sitting areas? Or seats at the bar area?

There are seats lining the sides of the venue and then also in the back where they sell merch. No seats at the bar though.

Are people required to be vaccinated or wear masks at this venue?

No your not

Do the food vendors still come every Wednesday? I just want to eat jerk chicken tacos and oxtail

I haven't seen any vendors the last two times we've gone

Is this a 18+ club or can a under 18 can come and dance as well?

The concert will let you know before you purchase tickets if it's a 21+ or all ages

Do they accept card for the entrance fee or just cash?

I believe they are a cashless venue

Where's the entrance to Echoplex?

on Glendale Avenue, right below sunset!

Can i Park by the park..?

Yes, just make sure to read signs because some spots are ticket traps.

What's the official ticket vendor? Is it ticketfly or eventbright?

Depends on who's hosting event can be different vendors

Do they allow small backpacks?

I'm not sure about backpacks but small bags, yes, but they are subject to a search

Their and all ages show do u know if I have to pay for a 1 year olds ticket?

I believe everyone has to purchase a ticket no matter the age

Is this an indoor or outdoor venue? Thanks! :)

It's mostly indoors. The stage & two bars are inside. There is a large patio that appears to be a smoking section.

Is it 18+?

It depends on the show. Some will be 21+, 18+, or all ages. Check their website for specific dates/shows.

I've tried multiple times / ways to ask the venue about seating options for the Honorary Title show on 6/2... I've never been to this venue and I'm 8.5 months pregnant. Are there options for seating?

The walls are lined with booth seating. I'm partly disabled & have never had any difficulty snagging a spot to sit.

Whats the best place to park?

Don't tell anyone, but here's a little secret between us yelpers... The best place to park is at the old school French restaurant Taix, across the street on Sunset Blvd. It's valet $5.00, just make sure you ask what time they close before you leave…

Age to get in?

depends on the event. most are 18 over but been there when it was 21 over only.

Is there handicapped seating?

No it's standing/general admission.

Kiss Kiss is a ""speakeasy"" style club in K-town (parking theoretically available on side streets + metered though you're better off using rideshare) that neighbors another ""speakeasy"" style club around the corner. What's changed about Kiss Kiss? Drink prices for one! They've multiplied by 1.5x at least (!) and now they seemingly do not limit capacity at the club because we felt like we were in a can of sardines in there. The bartenders are still nice and polite at least. The music is also not at all any good anymore. We came on Halloween night because (1) we are familiar w/ Kiss Kiss and (2) we figured K-town was less chaotic than WeHo. This is where we learned they had tickets for sale at the door to get in (please brace yourselves,,,, it was an astounding $45......). We sucked it up and paid (our mistake we would soon learn). The night itself was advertised as a 70's disco Halloween event. At NO POINT in the entire night was 70s music played as every. single. song. was synth/house music. At the most maybe 4 songs were synth/house/EDM remixes of 70s music. Not to mention!!! They only played 1 Halloween song all night! The only positive from the night was the decor was nice. Security guards at the bathroom side make you leave your drink "under their watch" while you use the restroom. I stayed behind and switched with my friend to keep a constant eye on our drinks because the man on duty was doing everything BUT watching people's drinks!! In a town where women are known to be roofied frankly quite often is insane to me. TLDR; Cover fee is $$, drinks are $$, place is so packed you're bumping into people ever 5 seconds, security is useless, do not come here.

The building itself has so much history, which makes it feel different from your typical nightclub. It used to be an American Legion hall and has been part of LA's music and underground party scene for years. One of my favorite things about the venue is that there's so much going on. It has multiple floors, two stages, several bars, VIP areas, and an outdoor smoking patio, so it feels like there's always something to explore. The music is diverse, too...everything from reggaeton, cumbia, and hip-hop to house, tech house, and Latin EDM. Depending on the night, you might catch a live show, a DJ set, or a themed party. The atmosphere is fun and diverse, which makes it a great place to go with friends when you want to dance and have a good time. I also love that the events can be so different from one night to the next, so check out their calendar online to see what's happening. The only downsides are that it can get really hot inside with a big and active crowd, and the drinks can get a little expensive. Parking on Sunset can be a headache when it's busy. There's a parking lot near the club that charges around $20 on busy event and club nights. The best option is the free street parking after 8:00 PM on most surrounding streets when meters stop, or free on residential blocks without permit restrictions. But check all the street signs carefully! Also look for shattered glass on the sidewalk because the last time I parked there, it's obvious that cars were getting broken into regularly on one of the side streets. If you can't leave early to try to get decent parking, I'd definitely recommend taking a rideshare if you can. Overall, this is a fun, unique LA nightlife spot with tons of character, great music, and a lively atmosphere. Between that and added fees, our final bill came out to over $800. + the $55 reservation fee. Nice space, but the service and lack of transparency around pricing made this a really disappointing and expensive experience. Would not recommend booking a table reservation here. They really shouldn't host something like this when they're obviously not equipped
