This is the premier dive bar in the Hollywood area that brings in the underground metal music bands from around the country. The interior is dark and gloomy with some seating around the back wall where you can watch the bands or stand like most fans do. There's an open air section out back where bands sell their merchandise. The only drawback is when they start late around 10pm midweek making it difficult for the working folks. read more

Not cool but when I turned to leave he relented and said "tip your bartender" I'd be more angry if this wasn't par for the course with punk/hardcore bars. Good times. read more

Every time we try to book here, there's either no response or they give your date away after confirming it with you. I'd avoid that behavior if you want the communities protection. People tend to go after guys who act like they are untouchable. read more

We found this place by word of mouth and decided to check it out on our visit to this portion of LA. We got in early fresh from when they had just open the doors. We had a good time. There was a small group of people next to us at the bar eventually and we didn't stay long (long enough to chill for a few minutes with a drink and bounce). The vibe was definitely present. With its dark room, LED lighted theme, it was giving chill, dark alternative music vibes. You wouldn't be able to tell if it was night or day outside being in here which I love. I can see the potential later on in the night, especially during the weekend nights. The bartender was awesome. He made me a version of strawberry margarita that he hasn't made in a long time and nailed it! There was plenty of seating for groups to drink/party at. The burlesque show here was great! It has a good lounge vibe. I just wished the dancers were more engaged with the audience. They never even came up to our group at all and we were new. You would think that they would want to welcome new viewers to their life, but it seemes like you have to show them more interest than they show you ... I really love this bar. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because they have SO MANY shows. Sometimes I just want to come in for a drink and hang out with a friend, not pay a cover and be crammed in with an audience. Upon entering, the bar may look small, but there's actually a decent bit of room and an entire outside area. The bartenders are friendly, as is the regular crowd. And if you're into metal, punk, etc music, definitely check out a show. I will say, the energy at the shows here is great! I just selfishly wish they weren't so booked all the time! Wow. I'll have to take back my kind words about the bar staff and venue. Just checked our credit card, and we were also overcharged for our drinks. This is on top of being overcharged to get in. We were on the guest list, saw our names written there plain as day, and pointed this out to the bouncer. He looked us right in the face, said "I don't see it" and made us pay the cover. So...beware. This place wants to take every last dollar you have, and then make you feel shitty about it. read more

you ever wonder what it feels like to be in a can of sardines . well come here especially during a show . I was there for onto others and this place is a joke . small as hell not enough room. Dont like tight spot don't come here for a show . can't even get a drink during the set and if you need to use the restroom hop on the stage and go to the left . stupidest shit I ever seen . a lot of people that paid could even see the band cause there its overcrowdes and you can get into the bar to get drunk or watch show from the outside . what's the point of having shows here if not everyone who paid can see it . sad for the people that really love the bands and pay to be crammed and not enjoy the show . I paid money to see a band blocked by pillars in an overcrowded place . never going here for a show again . this shouldn't even be a venue to be honest . the back has way more room to put a stage . someone should re think the whole layout of this place especially the restrooms make a hole in the wall for easier access. staff was chill but the place was just too overcrowded and if some shit went down . like an emergency or fire a lot of people will suffer and get hurt . read more

It's a love/hate thing. Love the venue. Always a good time there. Crowd is awesome. Staff is great. Music always has me moving. It's just the over priced/over charged drinks I can't seem to respect. My most recent trip had me at $38 and a $5 tip so $43 total...for 2 Gin & Tonics! 2! Yes, one was a double shot. When I first took the drinks from the bartender, I asked how much were the drinks because it's card only and my friend was giving me cash for his drink. I was told, "$24." So I'm like, "cool! Keep my tab open." Well, a few hours later and a few more drinks later, (yet still moderately sober because I pace myself) this time bought by my friend....I ended up closing my tab at 1am with those 2 Gin & Tonics that I ordered. Bartender rang me up, shocked when I seen that $38 charge. I didn't dispute it. I was already having a good time and I like going to this spot. But it just sucks how they rape you for your money at the end of the night. read more

Authentic rock 'n' roll venue with a lot of local, social life and talent. A little raunchy and unpretentious. Greedy and dark.

Update: I went back last night and the glassware is much better. This is a great bar. They throw lots of events and are connected to the community through fundraisers, pop ups and shows. read more

Overall, I wound up having a better time than I expected and I will come back if there is another can't miss show, but since I live in San Diego, I wouldn't make the effort to just come hang out because the logistics of getting to the fun part are frustrating. This club is near the Forever Hollywood cemetery, but this is not the glamorous part of Hollywood, so the club doesn't have parking and the nearest paid parking is about a mile away. If you're the sort of person who spends hours squinting at parking signs in Google Maps street view trying to figure out how to avoid getting a parking ticket, I can confirm that street parking is allowed on most of the nearby streets unless you are trying to park an oversized vehicle overnight or it's street sweeping day. Even though we arrived a good half hour before doors were scheduled to open, we were competing with an event at Forever Hollywood and had to park about six blocks away, on the other side of Vine. This was fine because I wasn't alone, but the walk would have been pretty harrowing by myself. And since doors didn't actually open until a good hour and a half after the posted time, kudos to the Panda Express up the street for letting us use their bathroom. Getting into the club itself was pretty uneventful once it opened, and the staff seemed professional but laid back. There are two weird things, though. 1) The bathroom is on the side of the stage, which is awkward when a band is playing. 2) They continuously ran a fog machine from both the ceiling and the side of my booth the entire time, which made it feel more like a vape shop than theatrical. But the bands sounded great and everyone seed to leave happy, so all in all they're doing something right. read more
