I was asked to sell my MIL's car for the Family, so I looked up prices on Kelly Blue Book, Carmax, etc. and requested quotes online. Carmax (CM) offered us $3,400 but lowered it to $3,000 when I brought the car in. EchoPark (EP) offered $4,700. Mind you this is an 18 year old Honda. I'd never heard of EP, so I was skeptical that the offer would also be significantly less once I brought the car in. I texted with Chentel about the necessary paperwork and options since my MIL is in Assisted Living. I talked to Chrystal the next day and scheduled an appointment. Ben processed and evaluated the car. EP honored the Online Offer even though they found a chip in the windshield even CM hadn't seen. I called my MIL to come sign and we were in and out within an hour (I don't remember the name of the young lady who processed the paperwork, but she's learning Korean). I've bought / sold 13 BMWs in my life and the experience with EP rivaled my experience with the best BMW Dealerships. I retract my experience with this company. I bought a car less than 30 days ago, and the night of pulling off the lot it already had a malfunction and they sold me a car with literally no gas. They kept it for service about 2 weeks later but claimed nothing was wrong. Three days after getting it back, I was in a collision that could've been avoided if the car's system wasn't faulty. I made the mistake of purchasing my vehicle while raining. This covered up damages on the front once it was dry. I expected more from a dealer. The sales department was great and the transaction was painless and quick until the next day and I looked at the front of the car and saw over 40 chips/nics of paint out of the front bumper area. A detail shop wet sanded and applied touch up paint to make it less noticeable but that cost me $600. read more

By all accounts, the car we went to look at should have been the car we came home with. Unfortunately that didn't happen, largely because Echo Park couldn't get out of their own way. They are quick to remind you, time and again, that they don't negotiate price and that they are "like Carmax." While that's not a new business model, usually other places don't overlook obvious and potentially damaging issues with their cars. Overall impression of Echo Park was a general sense of laziness among the staff, lack of preparation and product knowledge, unfamiliarity with their systems and absence of hospitality. I would go into more detail but my response is limited. The car in question, a '15 Lexus RC350, seemed to check all the boxes. It had some cosmetic issues but overall, it presented well. But the car had an incredible vibration at idle (likely failed engine mounts). And because Echo Park is obstinate and unwilling to fix any issue that isn't required by state inspection, we left. Priced at $24,299, the price increased to $27,300 after taxes, tags and fees. For that extra $3k, you have the luxury of paying them to wipe their hands clean of any issues on the car, and instead letting you pay for further repairs. Our representative Vic was very pleasant, although unprepared for our scheduled appointment. Each time she left to do something, she was gone for incredibly long periods of time. I'm reluctant to dive deep into the issues because she's trying to make a living like the rest of us. But I will say she had challenges with several things while we were there. After we left, we received a call from "Jared", regurgitating the same line that the car "passed their 194-point inspection with flying colors." Comedically, he followed that up by saying they noticed a "slight vibration" and that it could use a tune up. But rest assured, IT PASSED THEIR 194-POINT INSPECTION! If that wasn't enough to bring a laugh, he said they "replaced both rear shocks and struts." Is it any wonder why people don't trust car salesmen? It's one or the other, pal! To add insult to injury, the brakes felt terrible, with the pads needing replaced soon. Since he's known to say funny things, Jared stated that while they noticed these issues, their shop foreman said "there is nothing mechanically wrong with the car" and they won't do anything further to it. Which means, YOU get to buy a broken car! In summary, I'll agree they're like Carmax, but more like a dime store version. They're a used car lot full of used car salesmen, with all that implies. They tout that their prices are cheaper than the competition but bear in mind, the issues with the car and their excessive fees may likely surpass their competitors. For us, a stroll 2 miles down the road to the Lexus dealer proved far more lucrative. They had other cars available with similar mileage for less money, and in better shape. read more

I found a vehicle I liked and decided to purchase it. During the paperwork I was told that I would need to get an NC title for my trade-in car. I was told this wouldn't be an issue and we continued with the paperwork process, they hard-pulled my credit, signed me up for financing, we finished the paperwork, and I put money down on the vehicle. Since this was over the weekend they told me that I would need to go get an NC title during the next week before I could take the new car. This was completely fine with me and made sense. What wasn't fine was between the time I finished the paperwork on Saturday afternoon and Monday evening they had forgotten to take the car out of the available inventory and ultimately sold the car I purchased to someone else. After I was told this, there was no apology or remorse from the salesman or the manager I spoke to. All I have to show for this is wasted time and regret for choosing Echo Park. Save yourself the aggravation and go to a dealership that doesn't sell cars twice. After looking through some of the other 1 star reviews it's pretty clear that I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with Echo Park. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more

The absolute WORST car buying experience I have EVER had, and hey...outside of the last few years when I've NOT bought one, I can count FIFTEEN vehicles I've bought/sold over a 12 year period. I almost don't know where to begin, but it would behoove you to take the few minutes for me to give you a brief overview of the DISASTER this so called dealership. I called about a vehicle...we live in the Columbia, SC area which is approx 1.5 hours away. NONE of the people who answer the phone are located on site at the dealership....VERRRRRRRRRRY important, because this was not disclosed until my 2nd or 3rd call to these folks, and by the way, EVERY TIME I called, I got a DIFFERENT person! A/way... I asked the 1st person (Sarion Gaddy is his name...he said he goes by "Sai") for some close up pics by way of his cell phone to see how bad the stains were on the seats...NEVER GOT A REPLY! I called after 1 or 2 days asking to speak with so & so because of no response & said, "Hey...I'm interested in the car, but so & so never replied. He THEN tells me, "We are OFF SITE sales people". In o/words, they work as "guards" & run interference like a secretary does when you want to speak with the BOSS, right? You CANNOT dial straight to the d'ship to speak with a/one who actually WORKS there. They supposedly screen the calls...get the info to whomever, & get that person(s) to do w/ever it is you may be asking of them. Every time you call you'll get a DIFFERENT person...I got a total of FIVE. ONE was helpful towards the end of this fiasco, & while I forget her name, it was a female. Well I told this 2nd guy who I had on the phone, "Hey...Sarion was going to get me some pics but didn't follow thru, & if I buy this car, he needs to EARN my business...I'm not just going to drop $$$ in his lap for doing nothing." He tells me he'll take care of it...NOT! On & on I could go. Another issue is the car was listed LESS than when I finally put a deposit on it. The 1st few I spoke with wouldn't take my deposit over the phone after telling them I was GOING to buy the car and would pay cash in FULL on Saturday when I drove up there. I was NEVER told I would have to place $$$ on the car by way of their website, & even after telling them I wanted the car, they were set to keep the car listed stating that they could only "hold" a vehicle for 3 day or s/thing like that. Other issues ensued after speaking with the 1st two guys on the phone who don't even step FOOT on the lot but work off-site, so when speaking with the female who helped me, she finally gave me the phone number of the Manager, or ONE of the managers...his name is Christian. I've got ALLLLLL the emails from whomever it is that GETS the emails when you email them, and none of them ever got replied to! I've got the TEXT messages to/from Christian as well. When we finally went to get the car on an overcast, somewhat cool day that had a few sprinkles of rain in the air, my wife waited in the car while I stood at their door waiting for them to open up officially, right? There were 4 or 5 people ALREADY INSIDE walking around doing w/ever, but you would have thought, "Hey...s/one is outside waiting to come in, & although we're not open yet, let's let him in". The weather didn't bother me, but their obvious LACK of customer service or understanding of taking care of folks was clearly not understood. Oh...I almost forgot to say this... The night before I get this RANDOM email from their company (no name) that says, "Your appointment is at 11:09am" which is "strange to say the least, but NO name...no time was EVER established with the d'ship to come in then, & in fact, when speaking with Christian over the phone, I told him I wanted the car & I would be AT THEIR DOOR before they open on Saturday! So how in the world is ANYONE making an "appointment" with me without SPEAKING with me, & the TIME of this "appointment" was NOT what Christian and I agreed to, right? I sent a text to Christian telling him that & he replied, "Just show up at 9:00". So...here I am standing outside their d'ship the morning of...I was finally allowed in when they keyed the door open, & after telling them I was here to pay for a car & pick it up, they "flipped me" over to one of the sales guys who was sitting there off to the side. I guess the ON SITE reps are on an "UP" system. Not his physical stature, but he was short, cold, & very unprofessional. After the FOUR managers who sit behind the front counter told him what car it was (that's right FOUR...four of which you will NEVER get a chance to speak with should you call EchoPark), he pulls the car around. I didn't bring my current insurance card with me & he just said very coldly, "We have to have a current one." I said I will call Allstate & they can email it to me right away. What did HE do? I recently visited this dealership with my daughter to purchase a car, and unfortunately, our experience was less than satisfactory. Greg, our salesman, misled us by telling a flat-out lie. He pressured my daughter into keeping a warranty on the car, claiming it was already included in the overall price. It took my intervention and a call to the sales manager to get the warranty cost refunded. To make matters worse, just two weeks after purchasing the vehicle, it overheated. When my daughter and I called in for assistance, we encountered Kristina Smith is rude in my opinion she comes across as a racist, she is the guest services representative. Her behavior was extremely rude and disrespectful. She made condescending comments that left us shocked. It's disappointing to encounter such unprofessionalism, especially when dealing with a major purchase. In summary, I caution others to shop at this dealership with care. Our experience was marred by dishonesty, poor communication, and disrespectful treatment. Buyer beware! I will add that the sales manager Micheal Fitzpatrick did assume responsibility for our issues and resolved the situations. He was professional and showed concern. We had some concerns about that model due to the thefts, so we asked the salesman about it. TWO of them denied that the model was stolen often, it wasn't until we looked it up and saw they lied. They also didn't return the drivers license after a test drive, come on. We had to drive back and get it days later. Do better, Sonic. These are standard procedures and you failed both. read more

When I called back I was told they couldn't find anyone on my file and when I mentioned the name of who called me, the representative said that person wasn't available and she would have her call back. A hour later I ended up calling back and was told I needed to select a car first, I explained I would like to know what the finance results were first, again I was told I would get a call back and never did. So I called when they opened and was told no one was available even though they just opened. I bought a 2023 Pacifica from Echo Park Charlotte. I did the purchase online, and when I arrived Greg was very easy to work with and helped finish up the paperwork for me. I experienced no high-pressure sales pitches, and when he pulled around the vehicle he alerted me to a strong cigar smell. They then did a cleaning bomb and it removed the smell. Ideally, this would have been done before i arrived so there wasn't a 3 hour wait, but I appreciated them taking care of it. Upon inspection at my local shop, the rear tires were determined to need replacement and Echo Park agreed to have them replaced at a local Pep Boys. Again, it would have been nice for this to be taken care of before I bought the car, but they were easy to work with in making things right. read more

I have called 3x and spoken to Rebecca, Justin & Ethan ALL 3 said I would get a return call by them or their service dept. I have NEVER received a call back. Also watch the sales invoice. On ours there was $695 for dent removal, $695 for exterior condition, and over $4900 for a warranty, none of which we asked for. Told us the car came with a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Also there was a dangerous flaw with the tires that could have killed me and my grandkids. Steer clear of Echopark Automotive in Charlotte!! Seriously. No ability to leave zero stars or negative stars, as this experience should be. I agreed to buy a car on Thursday evening, offering a deposit. They (Frank & Mike) said it was mine, but due to a computer glitch they had no way to record a deposit I offered - so no one else could buy it. Salesman Frank was to call me the next day with the amount for me to pick it up Friday afternoon. Frank called Friday about 1:30 PM saying the glitch would take until the next week to resolve. I offered a deposit (again refused) and Frank said "on-his-word", the car would not be sold and it was mine. Not to worry. On Saturday I emailed the location asking Mike (manager) to call me. The respondent (Darren) said he'd pass on the message, but could he help me. I explained by email that I wanted to put a deposit on that vehicle to secure it until the glitch was resolved. He said Mike would call me. Mike didn't call. In the meantime, I texted Frank about a detail of the car. He responded, expressing no issue with my pending sale. (this is important) They are closed Sunday. Monday morning I call, express me concerns to the person answering the phone. She connected me to Jamara (manager), who I told I wanted to secure the car with a deposit (4th time). He said he'd check on it and get back with me. He didn't. Mike called 4 hours later. I expressed my concern that without a deposit the car would be un-glitched and be sold. He said that was why he's calling - they sold the car LAST FRIDAY. My salesman knew on Saturday and didn't tell me. Mike's lack of caring about the situation was very disappointing. The situation wasn't really important to him - typical used car guy. They still sold the car I wanted (agreed to buy) and offered to sell me another, different, car. Basically just an "oh well". Later that day I spoke to Shelby asking for the corporate phone number. Shelby is the social media person that responds to these online complaints. In an unguarded moment she said they had a number of these same issues that week and something needed to be done (exasperated sounding). She was of no help. I then spoke to the General Manager, Sanjay Prakash. He started to tell me I should have secured the car with a deposit. Ridiculous! At one point he said "how hard would it be for someone to put a SOLD sticker on the windshield?". Duh - like keystone cops, un-professionals. When I suggested I wanted the parent company, Sonic Automotive, and owner Bruton Smith to know how I was treated, Sanjay (cockily) said Bruton Smith loved him and would 100% leave it up to him how to (mis)handle this situation. If true, Bruton Smith doesn't care what misdeeds are done in his name. He then made me promises, concessions and assurances he could find me another "cream puff" and make this better than "right". The bottom line is that I gave him almost a month to make good on his promises and he broke every one; even the $500 gas card he offered as an apology for a colossal failure. He just lied to me until the issue died a slow death and he stopped responding. He, Echopark, was unscathed. Echopark Automotive in Charlotte is a dishonest company for how they treated me. Search and you will find other complaints on cars.com, Google and Facebook. You are better off never walking on the lot - I wish I had never. IMO, stereotypical used car liars. Dishonest to the core. BTW, I was a cash buyer and Frank kept pushing me to finance. Had researched and sent a friend to see/buy a 2018 low mileage Subaru. Car fax, pictures and description all depicted no accidents or damage, and showed in excellent condition. When my friend got there the paint was defective- actually bubbling up- on the rear quarter panel and the sales person said it had obviously been damaged and repainted. First off let me state that my overall buying experience was fantastic here. I went in to see a vehicle I had been researching in the market for a few months and Echo Park had one in stock at the right time in the exact trim I wanted for $4k under what other were going for in the market. I called Saturday morning to make an appointment and they were able to see me at the agreed upon time. Once I arrived at the dealership the staff and my salesman were fantastic. The whole car buying process was amazing and they even offered me $2k more on my trade in than other dealerships in the market. All in all the painless process of Echo Park saved me about $6k total versus if I had done the transaction at a traditional dealership. The trade in and finance were very straightforward and all options were laid out very clear and I felt very pleased with the transaction. With that said, I do not take the validity of the "190 point" inspection they complete on each vehicle. At traditional dealerships in the market (Hendricks, Scott Clark, etc. that I have purchased vehicles from) you can rest assured all used vehicles are given a full recondition from tires/brakes/fluids and oil change. After taking the keys of my new vehicle I went to my local Jeep dealership who always handles my maintenance (for service record reasoning, but who couldn't touch the price and trade in of this vehicle). What we discovered (and I was shown first hand in the garage bay) was that all 4 brakes and rotors were rusted and grooved and the brake pads were shot. Also, an oil change had not been performed since the last documented one on the carfax 7k miles before and over 11 months ago. Needless to say, I had to sink $1k into new pads, rotors and oil change and tire rotations. Now I know, you may think: "Oh this is a dealership taking advantage of someone". But rest assured I have no problem performing my own car maintenance such as brake jobs, etc. They truly were grooved and to the metal on the pads. I figured I just dropped $30k on a "new" car I wanted to have it professionally ready for my ownership. At the end of the day, I'm still not that upset and have a relatively good opinion of Echo Park. But they sold me a vehicle that I needed to immediately drop $1k into to get to drive safely. But hey if they read this, maybe they will refund some of the money I just spent on new brakes and an oil change. You figure if you drop $30k on a New used car this would be taken care off. I really question of the guys just tested to see if it ran and then sent it off to get a wax and detail and put it on the lot. Again, after the savings and trade in pricing I'm still in the positive about $5k, but it's a little shady to have a very OBVIOUS problem go unnoticed. If I had paid what the market was dictating at another dealership I would be furious, which is why I'm in this weird limbo of "I am pissed but I really saved some money, so I'm not that mad". This year this car would be the fourth car i purchased from here but i must say this experience been the worst. If you are not taking their gap or warranty the customer service goes down hill. I am pissed off because i came in there with a pre approved letter from Capital one and the rep Ryan decided to run my credit and my daughter credit 5 times. Why would you add these hard inquiries on our credit for no reason when we already had a lender. He didn't know what he was doing he put me down as the buyer when j was suppose to be the co applicant. He took upon himself to use his own finance company i didn't ask him to i had my own. When i ask for the paper for the break down of what he charging me for he said he couldn't print it out. Lies after lies he got frustrated with his back handed dealings and my asking to many questions he up and left without telling us. They sent over another rep that was helpful and tried to make it right but at this point i am pissed why would you run my credit multiple times when it was suppose to be one time. The managers in there do not care i approached the manager he had a i dont care attitude which he always have. The last time i was in there it was the same bad service but i thought they changed since i reached out to corporate. This will be my last car purchase from them at this location. The rep and management need better customer service skills. If i approach management with my concerns there should be more empathy for the customer but there was just to much of lack of it. read more

I completely understand why they have 2.5 starts now. I purchased a car at Echo Park recently. To begin, I asked to see a particular model. The salesman brought out the car I wanted to see but the miles and price were different from online. He then showed me the same car with a higher trim level that said it had been sold online. The facts on this car were also wrong. During the paperwork, I was told that they don't even fill the tank up before you leave. Better yet, if it's close enough to half they'll leave it. I had about 1/3 of a tank when I left. I couldn't even make it a hour home before I had to fill up. Once the paperwork was finished, I came outside to a completely dirty car. I had never seen someone do such a pisspoor job. It wasn't detailed because the specialists had left for the day (It was 4 pm and they don't close until 9). The mats had leaves on them and other dirt. The backseats had crumbs in between the seats. The plastic materials were covered in stains. The passenger seat had a stain. The passenger vanity mirror also had makeup and other stains on it. Not only is this EXTREMELY unacceptable, but it's a shame to allow your customers to drive off the lot like that. To make matters worse, I found out that behind the driver seat there is a part missing. How blind do you have to be to not catch any of this?! I was told this would all be fixed and they would be calling me once the part was ordered and I could come in later in the week to get it serviced. This would mean I would have to drive an 1 hr 45 again, yay. However, I never got any call and when I finally did reach them the part was never ordered. To this day, nothing has been fixed. Had I known, I would have had this terrible of an experience I would've never came. Please do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. In the end you will not save money because the problems you will encounter later would have been avoided at a quality dealership. read more

A few days ago, we scheduled a test drive at this location, and when we arrived, we sat down for a couple of minutes with a young associate that was eager to tell us all the things that this place does not do. We heard multiple times : We can't do this ,we won't be able to do that before we had even seen the car. If you like to work with people that have no authority whatsoever to work with you on pricing ,have extremely limited payment option and cannot even answer very simple questions while sitting with you in the car on a test drive then this is your place to go. They are referring always to the higher ups that obviously sit somewhere else and there's nothing they can do about anything. When you sit in a car that they have on site since five weeks and they are not interested in selling this car at all that makes you wonder what this business model is really about. I would like to make clear we didn't have any outrageous requests about lowering the price or so. We didn't even get to the point that we could explain it. Just basic stuff. We will not go back to a place like this. We will go back to our traditional local car dealer that can work with you on pricing and shows interest and flexibility to make this business deal happen. Echo Park is not your place for this. The people that work there are clearly just car movers. You show up ,they get your car from the back of the building , go on a test drive with you and that's it. They just repeat what they had been told probably in an one hour training, but they have no sales people skills whatsoever. read more

Unfortunately not so pleasant experience. I had been to their location twice before. I was was working with sales person TJ and he was extremely helpful and transparent. This was the third time I was there and had finalized the car. I was in process of filling the loan application, during which he stated that there was only one key fob for the car to which I requested if that can accomodated in the price. I told him I understand their no haggle policy, but if he can make an exception and talk to his manager about it. He goes and discusses with his manager and his manager comes over. Here is where it gets interesting. Without introducing himself and in an extremely arrogant tone he said "I don't care if you buy the car or not. Someone else will buy it." And walked away. This all happened while I was actually filling the application for buying the car. I was shocked and surprised at the way they treat a customer who is actually in process of buying the car. I was like what the hell just happened. Now I was not even sure of the after purchase support and treatment. Needless to say I didn't buy from them. read more

I went to visit this dealership for the first time yesterday. As i live more than an hour away and was in the area - i wanted to see a specific car that's actually been sitting on their lot for almost three months (82 days as of this posting). First thing - they require your license before they will even talk to you (a picture was taken of my license with a cell phone). Then I was told they don't operate like other car dealerships. There is no price negotiation. Extra fees like Perma Care 'finish protection' (which is nothing more than a glorified car wax) is mandatory, non-negotiable. I was told that total additional fees would run me an additional $2,000 (that included tax and tags). I was then told, they will only accept cash or debit cards, cashier's check only from my personal banking location, and credit cards to $ 2,500 max (I believe, may have been $ 3,500). Otherwise, you MUST finance through them. They will not work with you if you want to finance your loan through a bank, credit union, etc. When I questioned why - as a bank check is a bank check - I was told that financing outside of EchoPark would require a bill of sale and she made it clear they would not provide one. This is how our conversation started! There was no discussion about the vehicle I was interested in, what my needs were, nothing. Every word spoken was a deterrent to doing business with them. I was treated with complete indifference. After 10 minutes of "how things work at Echo Park" - I told her there was no need for me to see the car. She could have cared less. I was dismissed. In the end, I probably would have paid cash anyway if I wanted the vehicle, but I wanted to consider options. I'll never pass through their doors again. read more
