My trip to Ebisu was my first curbside pickup meal since COVID hit. My ramen "stuff," pork, noodles, corn, egg, veg, were in one one container, and the broth in another. When I got home I put them together, heated them back up, and it was FABULOUS! I have an order of kimchee fried rice with bacon and corn in it to have with the salmon and veg I'm making for dinner tonight. The staff was kind and amazing given the circumstances. Returned after a long absence from the state. It is still a very lovely restaurant for a romantic date, what's more, it is very young child family friendly. Huge huge point goes to having a changing table, which is my first time finding one in a non chained family restaurant. Also very clean high chair and of course very clean and neat overall. Food is better than I remembered. I ordered the Nagasaki chanpon/ramen, and I am very skeptical and critical of having ramen in RI, cause well, it is RI, not NYC. Very pleasantly surprised. We moved here from Hawaii last month and used to get ramen all the time. We can't find any near Groton CT so we found this place 50 mins away. Quiet place only customers in there. Waitress was nice but monotoned and not that excited about working . Ramen was ehhhhcompared to what we're used to. Noodles were very thin and soft and not the thick flavorful broth like I love . Fried shrimp dumplings were so amazing . Bathrooms are nice. Prices not bad . They do have a lot of options from ramen to hot pot food. read more

Went for dinner and the place was busy this probably why we waited for quite some time for our food to arrive. Once the food arrived and we started to eat since we came hungry. Being that it was our fist time there, we thought maybe there's only 1 chef in the kitchen so why our food took a long time to arrived. When our food arrived, we started eating and then our waitress came back to our table after about 5-10 minutes and said she needed to take our plate of meat that was for Shabu Shabu back to the kitchen and that she will bring it back without any explanation. So after a few minutes went by, she came back and said there was a mix up and we were given lambs and beef sirloin (by mistake). If it was a mistake, why didn't they let us know before taking our plate of meats that I was eating from back to kitchen, mind you I already touched it with my used chopsticks. All the waitress had to do was explain it to us before taking our food away while we are eating. We would of paid for it, it wasn't a big of deal for us. It seemed strange that this happened. I've never experienced such a thing pre Covid and it happened during Covid time. Makes me wonder if this is happening to other diners as well. Wonderful, delicious place, that has convenient parking! Interior is reasonably sized with tasteful decor, staff is friendly, quick and honestly, my friends and I had such a lovely time here. We were a party of 10, all ordered different things, received our bowls in a reasonable time. Everybody swore their ramen/dishes were delicous and I can certainly vouch that my Nagasaki ramen's tonkotsu broth was soooooo good (official term). The noodles were bouncy, the toppings fresh and varied. The desserts were equally light and well made and just a solid, solid eat. Customer service really deserves credit - our table wanted separate checks despite our number, we also lingered long after our meal was finished, and through it all our server was very patient, obliging, and gave us our space. We pretty much closed the restaurant down but to the very end, we did not feel rushed out even though they must've wanted to wrap things up. It was a very special, rare getogether for my friends and I and I deeply, deeply appreciate their customer service for helping us end on a magical note. And again, delicious ramen! 6/5 read more

Subtly curry flavor with a slight hint of heat. Added Brussels sprouts and kimchi with bacon rice to the meal. Left quite happy and not feeling like a bloated tick. Prices are decent. Delicious ramen! I usually have to go to NY or Boston for good ramen but so happy to have found this place in RI! The ramen was fresh and the grilled squid and fried calamari were both so good! Good Japanese food but with a limited menu in my opinion. It is listed as one of the top 10 pokebowl restaurants in Cranston but they don't serve pokebowl which is what I was in the mood for. I had a lunch combination with bbq pork and rice with a side of broccoli. It was ok. I also had fried dumplings with it which were again ok. My friend had a ramen bowl special which he enjoyed and I thought had little flavor. We shared coconut milk corn on a skewer which again was good but again little seasoning. I think like most people my experience with Ramen has just been the twenty five cent college dorm special, but I am quickly learning Ramen is a real gourmet experience! I had the pork ramen and was sold the broth the noodles the pork and bock Choy were perfect, I added the soft boiled egg and I have never had an egg taste like that it absorbs the flavor of the broth and was amazing!! Horror experience. Went with a party of 8. Only 2 tables had people. It wasn't busy. Service was slow and clumsy. Food was mostly lackluster. There was a very long hair in one soup. 4 items were forgotten from our order. 1 item was wrong. Those were just the problems I noticed. Maybe if you've never had Japanese food before this place seems nice. I've had Japanese izakaya before. This ain't it. Positives. The Gyu Tan (beef tongue salad) and Hijiki (seaweed salad) were pretty good. Both are cold dishes, so maybe that says something. There's authentic Japanese beer and alcohol on the menu. Service. The first thing to hit the table was my beer bottle, and that bottle wasn't cleaned off the table until the very end of the meal. At times we had to juggle plates when the waitress brought food because dirty dishes weren't ever picked up until they absolutely had to be. The place was not busy. The waitress needed several reminders to bring requested items. Food came out slowly to the point people were getting anxious, compounded by some appetizers being forgotten. Food. The gyoza tasted of freezer burn and came in a weird sauce - maybe too much vinegar? It wouldn't surprise me if they used the packet in the freezer bag. The term "robotayaki" means skewers cooked over charcoal. My skewers were probably just broiled because they weren't charred and they didn't taste of charcoal - even if Providence doesn't allow indoor charcoal there are ways to accomplish the flavor. We only got 2 of the 4 skewers we ordered so I can only say the ones I tasted were very boring. The duck for the duck soup was criminally overcooked, and left outside of the bowl. Why would we order duck soup without the duck in the soup? The "soba" in the duck soup and the "soba" in the yakisoba both seem to be dollar-store ramen noodles. Soba noodles are made from buckwheat. Good, fresh soba noodles are thick and maybe even brown depending on how much of the buckwheat they use. The "yaki" in yakisoba (and robotoyaki) means barbecued. Yakisoba noodles should be fried in a sort of barbecue sauce. They should be deep orange or brown from the cooking. The "yakisoba" here is thin and white, and the dish is actually closer to American chow mein. Very plain flavor. Ramen. I make better ramen at home. If you look closely at the pictures of the ramen, you'll see the presentation is very mediocre. Look at any international ramen place like Ramen Misoya and compare the presentation. Not even close. This difference in care can be tasted in the food. Overall. Despite all their vast claims to an authentic menu, not a single hot dish on the table was up to par. This place tastes more like your average Chinese takeout than an authentic Japanese izakaya. I really hope I just came on an off night. I want to like this place so much. But I'm absolutely never coming here again until I see evidence of change. read more

Went to Ebisu for lunch recently. The inside is very nice. Our waitress was great. I think I didn't order well. I got two tapas. Pork Belly Buns and Spicy Tuna Tostada with a Thai Iced Tea. The tea was great. I haven't tried this before. I had no idea it was that sweet but it was pretty and tasted great. I thought the description of the Pork Belly Buns was maybe a literal translation when it said there was sugar but there was actually sugar crystals. The pork itself felt like it was mostly fat and very little pork. Plus the bun seemed too big. Possibly I was just expecting something different. The tostada was good. I love the ramen here! Duck Ramen and Ebisu Ramen are my favorite, and when they had the "Make-Your-Own" option, that was second to none. Toppings are all great, and the takoyaki and miso donuts are an absolute masterpiece. If you feel like splurging, hit up the grilled meat menu you can't go wrong. All in all, my favorite place to grab ramen in Providence. My only complaint is recently the place started having this weird smell, almost like they're keeping an adult horse in the back.
