I came on a Monday around 5:30 and was able to get a seat right away! It's a smaller spot but cute inside with good music playing. We started with garlic edamame which we really enjoyed! It actually had a savory and sweet element to it. The house salad was HUGE - definitely worth the money. 2 people could easily share it. I like their rolls because you don't have to get a full sized roll if you don't want! They have options for full size or half size. This is great because you are able to try more rolls than you would at other places! We also got the Yellowtail Sashimi with jalapeño, it was very very fresh and tender. The fish really melted in your mouth and I loved the yuzu ponzu sauce. We really enjoyed all the rolls we got: In & Out Salmon, Albacore Delight & Hot Night Roll. I think my favorite of the 3 was the In & Out Salmon! The salmon was very fresh and all the flavors worked well together. Albacore Delight roll was fresh and I loved the crunch of the onions. Everything came out quickly! Our total was $44 which I thought was a great price for everything we ordered and for how good and fresh it was. I will definitely be coming back here. read more

This is a hidden gem! I came with a group of 4 and they seated us promptly when our turn was up on the waitlist. The decor is very cute, with dim lighting, and small lit up trees throughout. Our server was very kind and recommended us to try a variety of sushi options. Their rolls are only 4 generous pieces, which gives you the opportunity to try other options. We loved all of the sushi! The fish was fresh and the rolls were presented neatly and did not fall apart. The sushi isn't that expensive! We walked out very full paying just as much as you would for all you can eat. I love looking for new sushi places and admittedly I am cautious on the freshness of the fish and the ability for the chef to produce great options. I am looking for mastery of the classic dragon roll or baked scallop roll along with signature rolls that stand out. Eats Sushi knocks it out of the park with the classic that are presented like they came out of a photograph of the perfect roll. The fish is fresh and clean and balanced to the other ingredients where no one ingredient is competing with the other. The signature rolls are amazing and I have visited twice in a week to sample more items on the menu. Pricing is reasonable and the staff are friendly and attentive. read more

Ambiance Service Food I couldn't wait any longer to eat after dropping my BF off at LAX. On my way home I decided to look up a place to eat and I was in the mood for sushi. They were open the second I pulled up because I needed to eat. I got the fried Cali roll, crunchy spicy tuna bites, and miso soup. I like this place because it's not overpriced and they give you the right portion options to give you a wider verity of the menu. I do think my only change would be to ask them to hold the sauces and to lighten up on the ahi on the crunchy spicy ahi. If you're a spicy ahi lover thought you'll love the portion sizes read more

I think I've finally found my go-to sushi spot in OC! All the rolls were delicious- I loved having a wide selection to try & having the ability to try "half" sizes of their specialty rolls. The inside of the store was decorated really well and it was spacious. The staff were also extremely kind and attentive- frequently moving empty plates out of our way. Not bad at all. The place might not look like it but they had some of the best sashimi in the area. Very thick cut of sashimi (like literterally very thick cuts so you shoshould cconsider), salmon belly, tuna belly, yellow taili anx urchin probably the best you can find around. Very fresh urchin especially, I haven't found another place with urchin tasted like this, ocean flavor instead of urine taste. The rolls are mehhh at the very least, we've had scallop baked roll and super chilly one, not the best not the worst, just so so. We've had some appearentice as well, jalapeños poppers and baked mussels are very okay, not amazing. If you come for sashimi and sushi, yes they have some of the freshest fishes and thickest cuts around. Staffs are really nice and cash only 5% off is a great addition. read more

This place is a hidden gem. It's a cute small sushi restaurant in Costa Mesa. If you're able to add yourself to the waitlist before you get there since I read it can be 2 hour wait. It was closed when I tried. When I got to the restaurant it was about 40 minute wait on a Thursday evening. I can see why the wait is long. The sushi price is a good deal and the quality of the fish is fresh. I got an assortment of nigiri and some appetizers and rolls. When I come Back I'm going to just order nigiri. read more

Eat's Sushi in Costa Mesa, adding it to the Top 10 Best Sushi Spot in OC. From the moment I walked in, I loved the cozy atmosphere which felt like I walked to Little Tokyo! Starting with the Albacore Lover Roll and Cheese Crunch Roll, both were incredibly flavorful and fresh. The Madai, a Japanese snapper, came highly recommended and it was an exquisite choice--delicate and delicious. The salmon and yellowtail sushi were perfect, with the fish practically melting in my mouth. My absolute favorite was the baked green mussel, which was cooked to perfection and utterly delightful. I got on the waitlist at 6:30pm and eventually got seated around 8:45pm. I waited 2+ hours for this sushi and let me tell you IT IS WORTH IT. All the rolls and sashimi pieces that we got were fresh and high quality. The standouts were the salmon sashimi in the 9 piece combo which was buttery smooth and the fatty tuna which was so rich. It was so incredibly good and the service was even better. Overall, highly highly recommend. We got so many dishes at an affordable price. I would come back again! read more

While some of the nigiri was pretty good and for a decent price, I'm knocking it down a star cause the uni was pretty awful. Usually uni is a little sweet and good, this was just not good. Price of most pieces are decent, but I'd skip the uni. read more

We arrived in the morning and were quickly seated. The decor is nice and bright with a welcoming ambiance. We ordered many dishes. First of all, the uni was fresh! I had the Takoyaki, and it was good. Sushi was great. I liked the smaller rolls and individual pieces so you could have a large variety of plates. Not bad at all. I give it a solid 8. Prob been here 8x already ! You need to join wait list as it's very popular. You get less rolls, 4 vs. 6 but it ends up costing less and allows you to try different sushi. My fav. with the first one being my most fav is caliente roll, red eye, albacore delight roll, fire island roll, and garlic edamame for appetizer! I also love their rice less rolls: mountain hand roll, pink lady, cucumber wrap. New style albacore or bluefin tuna sashimi is good too (no rice, just sashimi) Don't forget to check into Yelp and get your free Diet Coke or drink! Tasty food at a reasonable price. Offers a variety of sushi options. I especially like that their rolls mostly comes in 4 pieces so that I am able to order and try numerous rolls at a time. The interior is nicely decorated with a Japanese design. Not at all what I was expecting, therefore surpassed my expectations and many restaurants in that regard. My only complaint was service was a little slow. The spicy baked salmon and miso soup was delicious. If you are afraid of spice don't let the name of the baked salmon scare you off, it's not spicy. read more

I've been eyeing this place for a while and finally got the chance to try it out! I'm so glad that I did! As we are nearing the end of 2023, my dad wanted to go have some sushi. Since my mom doesn't eat sushi, he asked me if I wanted to go. Of course I want to go! We ended up going on a weekday during lunch time. We got there about 15 minutes before the restaurant opened and by the time they opened, there were already a decent amount of people waiting to get in and get seated. That's usually a great sign that the food is pretty great. The inside of the restaurant was not very big, but had a decent amount of seating. The decoration is tasteful. We got seated at a booth. We looked over the menu and we decided on getting a few different of the "new style sashimi" which is basically a fish with some white truffle oil, lemon, yuzu, and other garnishes. $10 a plate with either 4 or 5 pieces each was a good deal. We also ordered a bunch of nigiri. The nigiri are priced per piece, but they range from $2.25 to $8.50 for uni. Quite honestly, if you get the basic fish at $2.25 a piece, you could easily get 10 pieces of omakase quality nigiri for under $25. Now that is a steal. When the food came out, all I can say is WOW. The food was excellent! All the sashimi fishes were amazing and the way they prepared it was excellent. The little bit of truffle oil enhanced the flavors tremendously. The nigiri was great too! We got bluefin tuna, toro, salmon, snapper, scallop, eel, uni, sweet shrimp, and more. All of them were amazing! The sweet shrimp comes with the fried head. At just under $5 a piece, I got myself two because I wanted the fried heads haha. Toro was priced the same as sweet shrimp as well and that was delicious. I don't think I experienced a bad piece. Quite honestly, I love omakase style sushi. However, they're expensive. Most omakase spots can easily run you around $50-$60 for just 10 pieces. Most of them won't even include sweet shrimp, uni, or toro. However, the fact that we were able to get all the fishes we wanted and was even able to go for round two while keeping the bill at about $75 a person was unheard of. It was definitely an excellent meal and unlike most omakase spots where I leave not hungry but not full... I left FULL. It was so delicious and I'm thinking about the next time I can come again! My new go to spot when I'm craving rolls. I love how their rolls just come in 4 pieces so it allows you to have more variety. I got this one try their baby lobster roll, in n out, crunch, Alaska, Philadelphia and snow cone roll and it was all delish. I also loved their nigiri. My fave was the torched pepper salmon. Nice place for dinner. Two of the items we wanted were not available so we ended up getting some classic cut rolls, such as salmon, salmon skin, and unagi with our teriyaki salmon bento box. The rolls were fine but the salmon was super dry without the teriyaki sauce. The server was also a very low talker at the beginning and toward the end of our meal, she stopped talking, just used gestures to indicate where to press buttons, sign our receipt, etc., which was really weird. It was a decent noise level. They do have a rewards program and checkin for a can of soda as well. Affordable place for sushi. read more

I was really excited to try this place given all the reviews but left feeling disappointed. The food was good but the service was so bad. First they sat us in a tiny table, there were four of us. We had no room for our drinks, food, menu, plates etc. There were parties of 2 in large booths - huge mistake. i understand if it's a slow night or lunch time and a party of two want to sit in booths but on a friday evening?! :( our server seemed annoyed every time she stopped by to ask if we wanted anything else. My dad asked for a fork given it was his first time having sushi and they gave him a plastic takeout fork!! They stopped coming and asking if we wanted anything else or check in on us for the last 20 mins. never coming back. read more

This place was def on our list to try and glad we were able to make it at a time the line wasn't crazy! Overall really good. Multiple types of rolls. All good. My favorite was the black spider roll (it's like a dragon roll and a spider roll combined). Couple things to note: -sushi cuts are great. Nice and fat. Plus the quality I felt like was there - prices look good BUT rolls are only like 4 pieces. Works with me bc it allowed me to try multiple rolls without going too overboard on the price! - place is small and always packed. Food: Ex-Girlfriend, Tekka Tuna, Fire Island, Albacore Lover, and Gyozas Came for a work lunch, and left impressed. All the fish tasted great, and the smaller portions made it so you can easily share and try many different menu items. My favorite from everything I tried was the Fire Island and the Tekka Tuna, but to be honest there was not a bad dish had. We came with someone who does not eat seafood, and they enjoyed their cucumber roll and veggie roll so much that they mentioned that they would come back to eat it again. The menu is quite big, so there is something for everyone. Notes: This is a good shopping center with sushi, boba, and dessert spots all next to each other. Parking was a little tight, but there is plenty of room. Inside that decor is very nice, service is quick, and fresh is great. Not much more you can ask for! read more

I wanted to gatekeep this spot because I love it so much but it's already famous and always busy so I'm expressing my love through this review! The wait time for Eat's is hours at its peak - I recommend joining the waitlist on Yelp at South Coast Plaza and doing some shopping before heading over as your spot on the waitlist gets closer. The takowasabi here is yummy but the rolls are the reason to come. Their rolls are not only affordable but come in 4-6 pieces so you can try multiple different kinds. If only other places could follow suit!! I've tried their spicy tuna crispy rice, udon, and bento and they were all decent - nothing too special but a great option for non-sushi lovers. Staff is super friendly and it's overall a great time :) read more

The yellow tail belly was chewy. 4. All the fish in their nigri sushi were thinly cut with very little rice. Definitely all you can eat amount of fish. 5. The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. An awesome Japanese restaurant hidden in Costa Mesa Went shopping at South Coast today and couldn't decide on lunch, so I remembered this sushi place I've had my eye on for a long time--it's right near the South Coast! It really didn't disappoint; I'd say it was amazing. We ordered: Salmon Blue Crab Roll This roll was absolutely incredible! The outside was thick, fresh salmon, and it was stuffed with sweet crab meat, creating an explosion of textures. With one bite, you get the rich flavor of salmon and the sweet freshness of crab meat. Highly recommended! Various Sushi We tried many types of sushi this time, including Bluefin Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Madai (Japanese Snapper), and Fresh Water Eel. Every single fish was incredibly fresh! Especially the Bluefin Tuna--it had a firm, melt-in-your-mouth texture that you could just tell was fresh. The Fresh Water Eel sushi was also fantastic; the eel was grilled to perfection and drizzled with a special sauce, making the flavor unbeatable. Chicken Karaage Classic Japanese fried chicken. The skin was super crispy, while the chicken inside was incredibly tender and juicy. Dipped in the sauce, it's the perfect bite, and the kids kept asking for more. Yesterday at lunchtime, I had a craving for sushi. I chose Eat's Sushi first, as I was in Costa Mesa. The ambiance was comfortable and cozy, with a pleasant hum of conversation swirling in the air. For a simple appetizer, I ordered the edamame, which was perfectly steamed and lightly salted. It arrived promptly, and the timing throughout our meal felt just right. I ordered four hand rolls and was surprised that, traditionally cone-shaped, these were more roll-shaped. These roll-shaped hand rolls allowed for more ingredients per roll--a big plus! The hand rolls and nigiri stand out as highlights because the toro melted in your mouth although its quality varied between visits. The 4-piece rolls provided an excellent way to taste different dishes because they allowed us to sample multiple options without feeling overwhelmed by excessive food. The staff provided friendly and attentive service throughout all busy periods and the restaurant maintained a cozy atmosphere even when it became crowded. The Yelp waitlist system allowed us to reduce our weekend evening wait during busy hours. The prices at the restaurant seemed reasonable until we realized how quickly the total amount grew when we were hungry. The menu variety compensates for the subpar performance of two appetizers because the karaage lacked crispiness and the spicy edamame failed to deliver sufficient heat. The restaurant provides excellent casual sushi with great taste and quick service although it lacks high-end omakase quality. Everything came out fresh and nicely prepared. The Bluefin Tuna stood out in particular--it tasted very fresh and had great flavor. The Caterpillar Roll and Spicy Baked Salmon Roll were also highlights, with a great balance of texture and taste. The Jalapeño Bomb was a fun appetizer with a nice kick, and the Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu were both cooked well and very satisfying. The Tonkotsu Ramen was rich and comforting and a great addition to the meal. The service was excellent throughout the visit--friendly, attentive, and quick.
