Just tried first time. Food: excellent. Elote was terrific. Five taco's (2people) all very good and BIG servings. Service was very friendly. Will happily return. Charlie read more

It is good neighborhood place in downtown Northbrook. We used it for pickup orders on few occasions in last few months, and liked it. They have tasty bowls, variety of tacos, and very democratic prices. They have outside patio too. Hope they are able to stay and survive during these tough times read more

Sorry to say, very mediocre food for the price. My wife and I ordered 6 tacos, a tostada and a margarita. $43. The tacos are average sized, fillings are a bit light. The barbacoa and lamb were tough as leather. I gave up on the lamb halfway. The Thai pork was the best of the bunch. The margarita tasted very chemical-y. My biggest complaint is the order itself. I have a mango allergy. My wife clearly asked for no mango pickles on any of the food. When we got home, all but the the lamb had mango pickles on them. read more

I have to disagree with Lindia R's one star review and I challenge anyone reading this to do the same. Eataco moved into downtown Northbrook and instantly became a part of the community. I have been known to dabble in a good margarita now and then and let me tell you, they don't disappoint in the alcohol department but I digress, lets talk food. No exaggeration when I tell you this place has only the freshest of ingredients and they whip those ingredients together to make the best entrees, side dishes and appetizers. We have a couple food allergies in my family and they are always very accommodating and patient with our random requests and concerns. If you want an amazing meal, a fantastic margarita and some phenomenal service, trust me when I tell you to visit Eataco. Check it out for yourself, don't take Linda R's advice. read more

SO good!!! The steak taco was great. So was the vegan teriyaki taco. We also got chips and guacamole and the guacamole was good. Tacos are smaller so I would recommend getting at least 3. I love that there is now an amazing taco place in downtown northbrook! read more

Eataco is a fabulous place! They have the best taco variety and other legit Mexican food around. The food that I had was just out of this world. The best tacos that I have ever had in my life. The chicken carbon and pork belly tacos were just absolutely amazing! For anyone coming to this place, definitely got to try those tacos if you haven't tried it before. Great food, great customer service, good atmosphere, and attentive staffs. Everything at this place is amazing! read more

The service was amazing. The server was so kind and smiled when he interacted with customers. The food was incredible, everything was cooked amazingly and it reminded me of the time I visited Mexico for the first time. The atmosphere of the place was so peaceful and the music in the background made me laugh a little because I understand Spanish. I will definitely eat here again! read more

Tacos are loaded compared to other places! This place offers a variety of tacos but stick with the basic carne asada taco or carne asada quesadilla and you can't go wrong. Some items can be disappointing like nachos and elote but I guess it's ok for the kids who don't know better. Great vibe with tv's and nice set up. Staff is fast and friendly especially the lady that doesn't smile...she's cool too. Been here 3 times so it's close to Southern California Mexican. read more

EATACO - Everything was delicious! And they even threw in an order of churros! - Tacos Near Me - Northbrook, Illinois

One of the better Taco places in Northbrook (my 2nd choice for the area). Have come here multiple times and always was satisfied with the quality of food. The wait at times can be a bit of a hassle but nothing too much to complain about. read more

They have excellent food. The ingredients are fresh. Prices are fair too. I recommend the burrito bowl. It's amazing. Love this place.

My husband and I just did takeout from here. We are taco fanatics and this place is really, really tasty. Everything is so very fresh. If you read any complaints posted about this place, don't listen and try it for yourself. The fish taco was amazing, as was the pork and the chicken. The guacamole was authentic and the chips were also worth noting. You won't be disappointed with their cuisine. We will continue to support this establishment. read more

We like to use Yelp when out and about. We like to try little neighborhood gems. This place did not disappoint! At all. Not very spacious, but it did our party of 7 just fine. Love the decor on the walls. The artwork is NOT for sale. That was probably the only disappointment of the entire night. We ordered the elote to start, because who doesn't like Mexican street corn?!?! So good!!! I think I was able to sample two chips worth. Because my natives chowed on the rest!! Calamari was also consumed. Per my Benjamin's request. Yummy! And I LOVE brussel sprouts, so that was ordered, too. Delish!! We all chose a taco or two and just shared all of them. Teriyaki tofu, grilled ajo shrimp, beef barbacoa, eataco steak, and the ground beef. Everything was delicious and I just loved our server. She was a delight! Made some small talk and asked us about what brought us in, even recommended a drink to my daughter. It was a very good experience and I would most definitely return! read more

This is a great taco spot! I appreciate that they take chances with their menu and consistently change things up. The flavors and combinations are unique and it's a charming spot. The tab can get a bit expensive if you order multiple tacos, which you will probably need to if you want to fill up. Owner is always on site and this is a small family owned business that has really put their heart into what they do. If you haven't tried it, please go! You won't regret it! read more

Update: As I guessed, giving them time to find their way was the right choice. The portion sizes were bigger, salsa was much better and everything tasted much better. Knowing full well that this is a soft open, this place has charm but needs to work on the food. They were out of steak and guacamole, but you didn't know in the line until you got to the register ready with you 'now wrong' order. The Thai pork was all fat, the chicken was bland, the lamb Barbacoa wasn't bad but the jicama was too ri, and the spicy shrimp wasn't spicy. The salsa had no spice to offset the blandness. The crispy fish did stand out. If I can summarize the opportunity here, I would recommend less ingredients per taco and better taste. Also, don't call anything spicy if it isn't. read more

So glad I got to check this place out last night. Met our friends there for dinner and this place was packed both inside and outside tables. Last night we started our meal with freshly made organic margaritas. I nearly thought they forgot about our drinks but was informed they're made to order fresh for everyone. In addition they offer craft beers, Mexican lager and bottled Pellegrino water in a can. We ordered guacamole & chips for the table to tide us over until we could decide what we wanted. I ordered the tostada which comes layered with Refried beans, I added chicken salsa Roja, but the choice is yours from lamb, shrimp, steak, etc. Topped with roasted corn & Cotija Cheese. It was delish! A little hard to eat in the small plate, but very good. My husband had the pork and lamb street tacos is how I would describe them. A small corn tortilla filled with meat, onions and fits in the palm of your hand. He said they were good. And he would come back for more! The owners could not have been more pleasant and personally stopped by our table to say hello. Asked how the food was, and thanked us for stopping in. They're history of working in the restaurant business for years with Lawry's is interesting. And finally decided to open something themselves. Northbrook is happy to have you! I'll be back for sure! read more

Finally a great restaurant idea in this corner of downtown Northbrook! I was so excited to hear that a taco shop opened up in this spot before I even got to try it. Downtown Northbrook has always needed more restaurants that all ages can enjoy going to go sit down and have a quick bite to eat. The current restaurants there are either too expensive to go to on a regular basis, don't have any seating inside, aren't kid-friendly or are ice cream shops. This is not only able to cover all of these bases, but it's super good as well! I was actually blown away by the quality of these tacos. They had so much more flavor than I was ever expecting. My friend and I both got a mushroom rajas taco and a chicken salsa roja taco. They were both delicious, although my friend and I both agreed we liked the mushroom taco the best. This particularly made me happy, because I love when I find a place that makes a great tasting vegetarian taco. The tacos were both smaller in size than I was expecting, but they really packed it with ingredients so it was still enough food. My only critique about the chicken taco was that my friend and I both thought it was too wet. I hate dry tacos, but this one was soaked. It was messier and harder to eat than your average taco because it wouldn't stop dripping and by the end, my entire plate was full of the liquid. I think it'd be better if they squeezed out some of the liquid the chicken is soaked in before putting it on the taco shell. My other critiques are about the restaurant itself. The seating is super tight. The tables are all really close together and small. The most common seating option is small, round two-person tables. Some are lined up against the window that has a bench running along it so you can seat a third person there, however the table itself is almost too small to fit 3 people. There's one big 8-person table and another 6-person booth that can be shared by multiple parties, however I wish they had more options and you didn't feel so crammed together. My other critique is that the water they have available in a jug has lemons and cucumbers in it and while I know some people like that, I personally don't. I would prefer if they had just plain water available and people could add a lemon to their water if they wish to. Overall a great place though. I'm excited to go back and try the other tacos!! read more

I was really excited to try this place out. I ordered the Vegan Tofu Teriyaki tacos with guacamole and a side of the beans and rice. The tacos were super disappointing. The flavor profile was off...definitely no teriyaki taste there. The beans were cooked well but had no taste. Rice was also well cooked but wasn't seasoned either. I'd give this place another shot as there were many options on the menu but my first experience wasn't good. Such a shame as I really wanted to like the place! Service was good. Fast and friendly which is perfect for a lunchtime crowd! read more

We had the pleasure of eating a lot of the menu good nachos good steak tacos good chicken tacos good service great atmosphere

This place is wonderful. After the terrible attempts by Jar Bar, that fish place and the BBQ mess I was really worried about downtown Northbrook. There's decent dinner options but burgers and dogs were the only "quick" choices. Okay Sushi but really not much. The flavors in Eataco's choices are the mark of a real chef. I predict some will say it's too pricey but flavor wins over volume. read more

Stopped in for lunch today with a friend. They had just opened (11:30) and someone was still sweeping the floor, which I found strange. Between the two of us, we ordered 2 classic steak, mushroom Rojas, spicy shrimp and crispy fish. The classic steak was by far the front runner. So delicious - nice pieces of steak, fresh little corn tortillas, onion and lime (no cilantro, thanks!). The rest were okay, nothing spectacular. The mushroom was a little bit spicy but had good flavor, I would've liked it more without the spice, but I'm a wimp! The shrimp and fish were okay. In my humble opinion, the menu seems a little small. I'm hoping as they gained popularity, their menu will grow. The food was fresh, the restaurant was clean and the prices were fair. I'll definitely be back for that steak taco! read more

The tacos were fantastic! Super flavorful, fresh and unique! My boys and I had the lamb barbacoa (super tender), fish tacos (crispy with the perfect amount of heat to delight the tastebuds), the lobster salad (unique and refreshing) and the chicken (super moist and flavorful). We also ordered the corn burrata which was delicious! They also have margaritas, which i didn't order, but have heard through the grape vine that they are delicious! There isn't any outdoor seating as of now, but the owner reassured me that they are working in it! Definitely a great addition to our community! read more

Great good, nice atmosphere, relaxing bar lounge, outdoor seating, excellent wait staff.

I like the concept of a unique type of taco. It's not your average tortilla, meat, lettuce and tomato type of place. They had a good selection, each with creative ingredients to create a flavorful taco. Costumer service was good also, they brought our food out as it was ready vice waiting for it all to be cooked, which was great so we could have it straight off the grill. A downside is that they were a bit pricey, $4 for 1 taco is a bit expensive in my opinion, especially because they weren't that big. Another downside is that there is no baby changing table in the restroom, there's enough space for it, they just didn't have one. read more

I had a good experience last time when I was here and expected same but a disappointment. We had the mexifries, these are good and the bowl was loaded. We had the Brussel sprout tacos, these were greasy and overly salty and had to wash it down every time with a big sip of margarita which was meh. We couldn't finish the tacos. The tofu tacos were bland. Maybe the meat options are good but I don't know. read more

Food is great as is the service. I've been here several times for lunch. Bright clean inside and lots of outside seating. I've had several different types of tacos they are all great. Eataco is a wonderful Taco Restaurant in Northbrook. Everything is fresh. I always have the Fish taco. just amazing. The shrimp or Pork taco is great as well. Try the margarita served in a cold mug. The family who runs this local gem are warm and always find time to chat and say hello. If you happen to have the need, we had them cater a party over the summer. They cooked it all fresh on site and served my guests. it was over the top and more than we expected. Guve Eataco a try and you'll enjoy dinner. This IS NOT Taco Bell!! LOL read more

So sweet and they're working non stop the whole time we are there to make sure everyone is taken care of! Food is fresh and delicious! The nachos are a crowd favorite and the Brussels sprouts are awesome as well! There are so many different tacos to choose from. Loved this place! First time visiting early December. Didn't get to enjoy indoor dining and it was raining outside, but it looks great. We had the following tacos: shrimp, steak, lamb carnitas, thai pork, and crispy fish. My favorite was the crispy fish! Extra crispy with a great slaw on top My date enjoyed the lamb; very flavorful. Pricing is on the high end, but it seems like all tacos are now lol. Definitely plan on going back at least one a month. read more
