Miffed! On Fri June 4 12:45 pm . One seated table inside all outdoor table empty. Stopped for quick bite. My son went inside to ask for table on patio, while other son & I preceded to table. Had our Bichon with us as usual. (We called many months ago to ask if dogs allowed, Eataco reply yes.) Dog suffers torn ACL so we had a cushion for her to put on chair. Mean time there was a girl/ woman standing inside giving us a nasty look through the glass door if looks could kill we're all would now be dead. At first I thought she was upset because neighboring restaurants were slammed and Eataco was virtual empty. Then the server came to table I said hi he replied put the dog on the ground I said she has torn ACL he said well I'll have to check.with that I said no thank you we're leaving & never returning. We were seated on patio Memorial Day weekend and a woman server Or owner asked if we were local & chatted with us about restaurants in Highwood. The dog was with us that day seated on a pillow on chair she did not ask us to put dog on floor. We love the food and have ordered to go for months. I will miss the Brussels sprouts. Apology not necessary. read more

Great service and food! The brisket Taco is my favorite! There's also a cute back room to play games and have drinks with friends. Very inviting place! read more

Food was great!! Go straight for the tacos but be prepared for slow service and having to repeatedly ask for things. I'm still waiting for the napkins I asked for and we left 20 mins ago. read more

Fabulous food great service yummy tacos inexpensive quality food I will go many times back again read more

Food is so so, service is even worse. Prices are high. Most waiters are young, maybe high school or college age, and are not well trained.

I have to say there are many taco spots in the burbs but not quite like EATACO. The other spots are all hype, and pricey. But at EATACO they pay attention to detail and it is quite noticeable. The flavors are tasty and the menu options are interesting. I enjoyed the selection they have and didn't mind paying for a delicious taco! read more

Sooooo good! We are big fans of Eataco and are glad to have them in downtown northbrook. The tacos are inventive and delicious! I had the chicken mole taco last time I was there and I'm still dreaming about it! The cactus margarita was a new one for me and I really liked it. I always eat way too much of their guacamole because it is too delicious! This family owned business is very committed to our community and it shows. Highly recommend! read more

This place is so so so so yummy. The flavors are so creative and delicious, and they really stuff the taco! You get your money's worth. I liked the outdoor seating as well. read more

Ordered 3 different types of tacos-fish, shrimp and pork. The only one that was good was the fish. Also ordered calamari and Brussel sprouts, which were surprisingly pretty good. The worst part was the dessert. Ordered the tres leches, but then realized they ran out. So they substituted it for churros. 2 churros to be exact. How do you substitute and charge me for a tres leches and give me two churros. The price difference and the amount does not even compute. It should've been at least four churros. But it also wasn't very good, and it was hard. If I went back, it would only be for their fish tacos. What a ripoff. read more

An amazing taco and tequila dinner. Their Brussels taco is delish, lamb or pork tacos are great but the best of all is the crispy avocado. We have eaten there many times and always had a great meal and dinner experience. Highly recommend it. read more

This place covers the 5 F's Fresh Friendly Fast Fun F#$%&king great margaritas. Thanks for a great meal. read more

Ate here tonight for Cinco de Mayo because our usual Mexican place closer to home was too busy. It was nice to go into a busy sit-down restaurant. The margaritas were sour (NOT overly sweet) and strong, the guacamole and chips were fresh, and the tacos were very good. The service was friendly but not fast, but they were very busy for Cinco de Mayo so it's understandable. read more

If my review was based solely on food, they would receive a 4. The service, price, dirty bathrooms and non-caring staff brought it down to a 1. Let's talk service. It's a small restaurant with a cook and server. When our party arrived, it was empty. The server took our order promptly, but never came to check on us after the food came and I actually had to refill our tables water carafes (they have a large water dispenser that was near our table). Price- the food was good, but really overpriced for tacos and burritos. $6-7 for a taco with protein and $12 for a single burrito, no sides included. Lastly, the dirty bathrooms and non-caring attitude. I had to take my daughter to the bathroom and I was searching for toilet paper. I asked the server for more toilet paper and with his laid back shoulder shrug he simply said "oh, yeah we don't have any". He then proceeded to hand me a stack of napkins. REALLY?!? On top of it the bathrooms were disgusting. Save your money and time, don't bother stopping here. read more

Service was good. We we're one of two tables and the music was way too loud. Menu was pretty small, a handful of appetizers and 6-7 tacos maybe, many were unavailable. Overall the food was okay, not something we will be rushing back for. I definitely would not recommend the margaritas, they tasted like they were made with awful sour mix. read more

Hadn't been there in years and they have really done a lot with the place! I was very impressed. Great food/drinks/atmosphere, etc.!

Delicious crunchy fish tacos. My family came to visit and now they say they can't wait to visit again so we can go for "those fish tacos that were so good they made us cry" read more

This place is the gem of Northbrook! It offers fresh creative Mexican cuisine with heathy ingredients and fabulous customer service. The tacos had great flavors and the brussel sprouts were to die for.... and great indoor decor. Very family friendly and great location. Highly recommend this if you're looking for delicious fresh Mexican food!! read more

Terrible service!!! Normally I do not post, however the gross service negligence this establishment exhibited today requires this review. We decided to give this place a try and boy what a mistake. I understand that service is rather subpar as of late & one needs to be more patient than normal. We however sat inside as all seats outside were full (or several covered with tree droppings, that were never cleared). We received water and a menus we then sat for the next 20 min without any follow up. We decided to move outside since a table opened up & thought the waiter was more attentive. We notified the waiter outside we were moving to one of his tables. He then progressed to clean off 2 of the tables (which had no customers sitting at them) and neglected to clean ours and further did not take our order (after sitting an incremental 10 minutes). Suggest not bothering to stop at this place....a waste of time!!! Better places like Basu down the street is so much better food & service! read more

The food was awesome! Great flavor and variety. The wait was a tiny bit long but worth it! Would eat here again.

Excellent tacos. Lots of different kinds to try. The guac and chips were also excellent. A little pricey.

Eataco is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon lunch with family, dinner date, or even host a party on their beautiful patio. The food never disappoints, and I love how fresh everything tastes. read more

I love Eataco so much!! I eat there all the time and it's really good and I really like their wings too even though it's not tacos, but they have AMAZING tacos!! Also really good Margs. I would go there any time of day any day of the week. Seriously good ass tacos! read more

Today was our first time at Eataco. We haven't ventured out too much during the quarantine and this was totally worth it! Enjoyed the steak and pork tacos, quesadilla and margaritas! Thank you for your fast, delicious curb side service and we will be back again very soon! Can't wait to try other menu items! read more

We hosted a bat mitzvah luncheon outside on the patio at Eataco over the weekend and were thrilled with how smooth it went. Eataco was lovely and let us drop off decorations ahead of the party, put them on the tables for us and had all of the food ready when we arrived. Our guests loved the food and margaritas and the event felt very special for our daughter. Thank you so much! read more

I found my new go-to taco place! My take-out order was packed thoughtfully that all the tacos were perfectly in place when we arrived home. We got the fish, steak, lamb carnitas, and shrimp tacos - all delectable and scrumptious! Everything was cooked and assembled in perfection from the crispiness of the fish and the medium-done steak to the right balance in flavors. We also got elotes and nachos, and I was glad the elotes came off the cob for our kids to enjoy. This was all washed down with their margarita and orangesicle cocktail, where they got this drinkology right! This is the exact eatery downtown Northbrook needed, and we will definitely be back soon! read more

EATACO - Take-out order - Tacos Near Me - Northbrook, Illinois

Gave this place a shot and it was incredible! Everything tastes extremely fresh and the tacos had a lot of filling. Guacamole portions are very generous and the elotes were delicious. Will definitely order from them again! read more

A+ for offering some unique tacos and ingredients. The corn tacos are smaller than usual but they do pack them high. Tacos are probably about .50 more expensive than they should be but the ingredients are of better quality than normal. Not a ton of seating which might handicap them from doing exceptionally well but a taco place is a much needed and appreciated addition to downtown Northbrook. Giving 4 stars simply on the fact that I haven't tried much of the menu. read more

Large volume. Low quality. Guacamole seems processed. Tacos large but dry. Margarita did not seem to be made from fresh squeezed lime juice. Would not revisit. read more

Nice addition to Northbrook. Went for the first time a few weeks ago with my family. Decent selection of taco types and a few additional items. Quality of our tacos was high and service was prompt. Surprisingly good selection of beers. If you are looking for quality tacos, reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere and good beers this is a definite place to hit. read more

I had wonderful lamb tacos a while ago. this order was not tasty, dry, no spices salsa too sweet.

Not authentic Mexican tacos, but still very good! This place is a hidden gem in Northbrook downtown.

I was so excited for this place to open, but waited a few weeks for them to work out opening kinks. The food was delicious and satisfied our family of 5. The menu is simple, but creative at the same time. The pricing was very fair with the 5 of us eating for about $45. The staff seems friendly and hope they can stick around because I really like it and think it's a great addition for Northbrook. read more

We were excited to try this place. The food is definitely fresh and quite tasty. Ambience is adorable - lots of bright colors. My complaint is that the horchata is $3 and we were given a one cup serving...for $3. It was good but totally overpriced. Like 3x. They need to check their spelling of "guacamole" under tostadas. We'll try them again, but stick with H2O for hydration. read more

Before you judge my 3 stars, I definitely would like to give them another chance to get a 5 star review. Easy and simple ordering system, go to the counter and pay and they bring the food to you. Everyone in our party said the tacos were good, the green and red salsa available at the utensil counter were really good! I got the Mexi Poké Bowl.. not sure why they would call it that, would prefer burrito bowl name to fit the cuisine. The bowl was interesting.. beans and rice with "grilled" corn that tasted old and kinda plastic-like, cheese crumbles, added chicken for an up-charge, and it was topped with mix green salad.. weird, served with a side of sour cream. All these things were served in paper boats, in the time it took to walk my food to me, the paper boat was super soft and wet from everything in it, not very portable at all. Drinks in the front cooler were all warm, nothing was cold at all. When we asked if they had cold ones they said they could give us a cup of ice, not really tasty for a can of cold beer to be poured over ice.. seating is very strange. They have one booth that is EXTREMELY tight! Like feels like the table is jabbing into you there no room between it and the booth. Other than that there is a large table with weird super short stools with no backs, and probably 15 tables that work for 2 people to sit at because the table size is so tiny. Customer service was great though. Just think somethings like serving style, seating and food quality should be re-evaluated. read more

See all

We showed up exactly at opening time and decided to grab a quick bite on our way to the airport. Our misunderstanding - we thought opening time meant "ready to order and cook" but the staff was also just showing up and the kitchen wasn't ready. They were able to make just a couple of things with the limited time we had. I thought the tacos were mediocre and poorly seasoned, but that may just be the rush. We did think it was pricey, Probably not going back, there are much better taqueria options in the area. read more

Not only does EATACO have the yummiest food, the owner Sara is so nice and accommodating. Everything from the tacos to the drinks are great. So happy to have this spot in Northbrook. read more

Been here several times in the last 4 weeks and finally something I think will stick in this location. I don't do many reviews, but this is literally a few blocks from home and we (me, wife, kids) were excited for something new in downtown Northbrook that might actually succeed and NOT be dessert food (not that desserts are bad!). This place is really good. I've been to plenty of taco joints of all kinds in the city and suburbs, and few are at this level for how good the tacos are. Fresh ingredients, great flavors and combinations, reasonably priced and everyone was super friendly. Plus they serve beer, wine and liquor too, and will soon add a few desserts (because apparently 2 ice cream shops and a chocolate shop within 50 feet isn't enough). We sure hope this one sticks around, because this is what was needed! read more

Came with myself and four other friends, all of us left very happy with our meals. Crispy fish tacos and shrimp tacos were extremely well received and the best thing that any of us had. Eataco steak was pretty good, but not quite on the same level as the previous two options. Couple other friends had the Mexican poke bowl and they said they were extremely satisfied as well. There were a couple hiccups with delivering our dishes, but that's to be expected with a restaurant that's only been open for two days and the staff was more than friendly enough to compensate for their miniscule mistake. All in all, great inexpensive option for quality and well-prepared food; hopefully they can break the curse that's been holding over this building for the past few years! read more

Delicious tacos! Can't wait to eat there again. The staff was super friendly as well.
