Awesome dinner last night. I like that they have half portions on some dishes. I had the half Jumbalya and app of blackened scallops together. Very tasty with a great kick! My wife had the Beef Tenderloin cooked perfectly and Bernaise sauce. Strong Street is shut down for the summer so we sat out side on the street to hear the music playing out there. A perfect weather evening too made for a very enjoyable night. Great Cosmos's for my wife and i loved my Fiddlehead IPA. Eastside one our go to restaurants in the area never disappoints. Jill our server was awesome as was bartenders inside Steve and Brian who allowed me to humor them with the results of my recent doctors visit! LOL Thanks for a great dining experience!

12 oz steak with Gouda fondue and candied bacon

Ok yum! We wanted to try a new place in Northampton instead of our usual spots and I am so glad we did! My fiancé and I both got the 12 oz steak which was cooked as requested. I got mine covered in the Gouda fondue and candied bacon which I was hesitant about but ended up really liking. Our server was really great, she was attentive and checked in on us frequently. The place is lit up right now for Christmas so all the lights make the ambiance really nice and romantic. We finished with maple crème brûlée which was 10/10. We are for sure going back!!

Friendly neighborhood eatery where it's fun to sit at the bar and enjoy gourmet food, including many Cajun-themed apps and mains.

Good news for homebound foodies waiting for the end of coronavirus, the kitchen at Eastside Grill is cooking and delivering to Northampton and Florence. As a guy who lives in NYC and has traveled to work in Northampton weekly for five years, the Eastside Grill knows how to run a kitchen. I've had everything from Faroe Island salmon with mustard butter to the NY sirloin with candied bacon & smoked Gouda fondue. It all rocks. I usually eat at the bar. Alas, nightlife is curtailed during our global pandemic. But there is no need to suffer through another rotisserie chicken (though Sutter's does a good job). Some of the best dishes are the Cajun-themed items like the gumbo of the day fried oysters, chicken etouffe, New Orleans style barbecue shrimp and any menu item served blackened. I enjoy this place enough that our office Christmas party was held there. Even the vegans loved the food, especially because the chef accommodated them with Michelin quality chow. The Oreo cheesecake was the dessert if the night! As soon as possible, I'll return for the Eastside's tangy Gorganzola vinigarette salad. But Northampton is under the same "shelter in place" order as the rest of America, so I'm hoping the restaurant survives the pandemic by becoming the best meal delivery option in the Pioneer Valley.

And it was all so incredibly delicious. Props to the chef, hands down. I opted for the high tops when making the 8:00P reservation and it was still busy at that time which was great for them. I do wish I'd have known the size of their high top as I might have chosen a different table but it was still great. Our server was very nice, I wish I remembered her name! The food again, was so delicious. I think my favorite dishes were the grilled miso scallops and definitely the bananas foster crème brûlée.

We got there around 1:40 p.m. and they closed at 2, so my friend was a little worried, but we were still welcomed and the staff was very friendly. It's a small place, but I actually liked that it felt cozy. We ordered 12 oysters, two orders of gumbo, a kale Caesar salad, the catfish special to split, and a bourbon-based drink. The oysters were $2 each, which I thought was a pretty good deal. The gumbo was really, really good. It came out a little lukewarm, but the flavor was absolutely there 10/10. The oysters were fresh and also 10/10. The bourbon drink was another standout. The presentation was beautiful, the little flower was such a nice touch, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The kale Caesar was where things dipped a little. It was pretty dry, so we asked for extra dressing, but the dressing didn't really add much flavor. When our waitress checked in, we were honest and said it just wasn't our favorite. I hate sending food back or complaining. I'll usually just stop eating it but she was so kind and apologetic. What really stood out was how they handled it. They told us they were taking the salad off the bill, which they absolutely did not have to do. We had planned to just take the one we had already eaten from home and fix it ourselves, but one of the staff members made us a completely new salad to go. She even massaged the kale so it was actually tender and enjoyable. That was such a thoughtful touch. The catfish was a hit for my friend. It wasn't my favorite, but I still ate it. Overall, I would definitely come back. Next time I'd probably keep it simple; oysters, gumbo, and a drink and I'd be happy. The service was phenomenal, and honestly, service really makes a place. Feeling welcomed and comfortable matters, and this place absolutely gave that.

It took a while to get drinks and place our order, and we found ourselves waiting more than expected between courses. That said, the food itself had some highlights. The crab was absolutely amazing--fresh, flavorful, and definitely the standout of the meal. We also really enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, which was well-prepared and hit the mark. Unfortunately, the mussels didn't live up to the same standard; they lacked flavor and just weren't our favorite. Overall, it's an okay spot with some strong dishes, but the slow service and inconsistency in the food would make me hesitate before returning.

It had shrimp, crab legs, beef sausage, potatoes, and a half ear of corn on the cob. It came drenched in sauce, which was messy, but the taste was well worth it. He was pretty excited. We went on a Monday and there were only a few other people there. Major first issue, they no longer serve the boiled lobster that is front and center on their menu... only the lobster TALES for $41!! The menus are paper and could easily be marked to show they don't sell it... or at the very least the server could MENTION that it's not available when she brings the menus. I asked twice if the $41 was the price for JUST the lobster and she said that it was, so we ordered additional sides. The menu was unusual... SOME spicy seafood items mixed in with stuff you'd only ever see on a menu in an Asian Restaurant. Fried dumplings, crab rangoon... and the $14 "Cajun Spicy Rice w/Shrimp" was literally a bowl of Asian fried rice with shrimp, not the least bit spicy OR Cajun. The woman that seated and served us was absolutely FLAT in her demeanor. Everyone is human and people have bad days, but she didn't smile a single time. I told her we were celebrating his birthday and she didn't even NOD in acknowledgment, just stood silently waiting for us to order... it was awkward. We felt like we were putting her out, like she had somewhere else to be and couldn't be bothered. They cover the table with a piece of brown paper, but the areas it doesn't reach were sticky like old kitchen grease. They bring the absolutely cheapest plastic utensils, the forks were so flimsy that we had trouble getting the meat out of the shell with them and finally had to ask if they had any metal ones. (They did, which begs the question, why don't they bring them to start?) They don't bring a nut cracker or a pick either, or even a table knife. It was a pretty messy meal. The lobster tails INCLUDED corn on the cob and potatoes, so we ended up with enough food for an entire second meal. In terms of the meal itself, it was pretty good. The Cajun fries were great, the onion rings too. I had some of the best fried whole clams and scallops of my life. The fried dumplings were also spectacular, though they don't offer dumpling sauce, only packets of soy sauce. The Cajun Rice was meh... it was disappointing for $14 and really hard to eat with the tiny plastic fork. The bill came to $104 before tip. Crazy that those prices don't justify real tableware. We'll definitely try it at least once more (maybe as takeout)... hopefully there will be a new server or she'll be in a better mood.

We didn't wait long for them to deliver the food to our table. What it saves on aesthetics it makes up for in flavor. We got the fried gator and fried green tomatoes to start. The tomatoes were good and cooked nicely served with ranch and the gator was delicious and served with a great sauce. They both needed a little salt for my taste but we would get them both again. Next we got the garlic spaghetti. It doesn't look like much but it was my 2nd favorite thing. Al-dente spaghetti with a sauce that is savory, sweet and spicy all at once. I feel like it was garlic, parmesan, Cajun and hot honey mixed. Just a guess. I would definitely get it again. My husband got the oyster po boy. He added the "Cajun style" for $1 and it was well worth it. The Cajun style is seasoning and grilled pepper. This thing was dynamite. My favorite bite of the day for sure. The sauce with the veggies and perfectly crispy and tender oysters on that bread. It was a 10/10 for sure. I regretted not ordering my own. My son got a roast beef po boy. It was like roasted beef in broth not what he was expecting. It was ok but with the other choices we would not have it again. The fries were good. I got the chicken tenders with hot honey. The tenders are good. They are juicy and fresh. I didn't love the hot honey because it was not hot or sweet enough for me but that was a choice. I would order them again just without the sauce. Overall I left wanting to go back and try other things which is a win in my book. They lost 1 star because the apps are served without any plates to eat off of and most things needed salt. But that's just being picky. It's a solid choice.
