I write this post with a bitter feeling toward Eastlink. With that being said, here is my issue. I have had internet through Eastlink for close to a year now. My services goes off quite often which causes me frustration as I work from home. That isn't my main issue, though. Recently decided to check out their security cameras for outside my house. I talked to a rep about a few different cameras they offer. The rep didn't seem to be knowledgeable in regards to the cameras but whatever. I decided on the small one for outside my living room window. I was charged 10 for shipping (as if they don't make enough money off people) so be it. The camera has no sound, no motion detection and to be honest it sucks! It goes off more than it stays on. It's such a nuisance. I called Eastlink to see if I could cancel the camera and return it due to having nothing I wanted feature-wise but that didn't go over well. The customer service rep informed me if I wanted to return the camera (mind you I had for a total of 4 days by this point) I would have to pay $574.00! Are you freaking kidding me, I said! $574.00 dollars for a camera that costs no more than $100 if that. I was fuming! I am stuck with this crappy worthless piece of equipment they call a security camera or pay $574.00 to send it back. They are worse than a rent-to-own place, to be honest. My internet is up in Jan 2022 which I will be cancelling, but I'm stuck paying for this junk camera for 36 months. Eastlink is horrible to deal with. Customer service is rude with not one bit of compassion. I wish we had more competition against Eastlink. I'm seriously disgusted with them. read more

My message to EastLink (internet): I have had your service for three months and have had to call in twice for technical because it is not working, I rely on it for my employment but you don't care. I have lost work because of your service, but you don't care. I ask for compensation of some kind, oh, here have $20.00. My day earns me $90.00. but you don't care. I live in a small town and if my internet goes down on a Wednesday you will not send a technician until Tuesday, which costs me 6 days of work but you don't care. I pay the bill late. THEN you care. read more

If i could give them 0 out of 5 i would. I have called and ordered surveys 5 times over 6 months to get a confirmation that my new house foundation and my power lines would be located so that I would have internet service. After ignoring my requests or not getting back to me with results multiple times I finally was lucky enough to be on the property when a survey engineered showed up and he told me in person what I would need to do. The service follows the road I live on and keeps going beyond my property. 18 months later my house is nearing completion and I call for service to be installed and the rep tells me a survey needs to be done. I put emphasis on the fact that the survey worker needs to call me before he shows up. In the meantime i also call Bell and talk to the field guy a few times and he installs the lines within a couple weeks. Today I get a call from Eastlink. "The survey engineer has been to the location and service is not possible". !!!!!!!!! After I let my raging anger die a bit I call the call center and ask for a manager. The manager proceeds to tell me that even though the service goes through my property they cannot get it to my house because it would cost thousands in permits and licenses. So apparently it costs thousands to run a wire from the road to my house... I call BS. The engineer also wrote in report my house was more than 1000ft from service when its between 300-500ft. I have been jerked around so much from this company that I am transferring ALL my services to another provider. I have multiple businesses and they will be losing thousands. Good job guys. You pissed the wrong guy off. Mat read more

I am with Eastlink since last month. There are not much good things to say about them other than discounted price that they gave me for 2 years. First of all, technician didn't use the doorbell when they came to set up TV and internet, so I didn't hear that they came to our home. (My home is big, so if I am on the 2nd floor, knocking sound doesn't reach us) So technician left without leaving anything to us. I got a auto message 30min after I confirmed that I am waiting for the service, and the message told me that "Sorry, we missed each other." I called customer service, then customer service staff told me that they cannot send the technician back to our place on the same day, and have to wait for another 4 days! Finally, I got my TV service 4 days after I supposed to get. Tv channels themselves are satisfactory....but connection keeps going down so frequently. As of now, the TV is down due to connection error. I also have a lot of issue with customer service staff. I taled to, at least 5 staffs so far... but they all are very rude and never care about their customer. I talked to a woman this morning, on April 10th, 2018, whoever she was very rude and could literally hear that she wants to hung up on the phone ASAP. I had been with Bell for the past 8 years till I move to my new place. I had no issue with Bell. Now I stuck with Eastlink for the next 2 years, but I cannot wait to move on to Bell after the 2 years. I won't recommend anybody this company. read more

I hate Bell. I feel that they are the devil so I went with Eastlink for internet. I live on Harvard drive in Shearwater a community between Dartmouth and Eastern Passage. Like clock work, each evening, and on high usage times the connections on all my devices will drop, streaming will buffer. Even during non-peak times and connected via a LAN cable streaming sometimes buffers, dont even bother trying to stream 780p. Speedtest.net produces readings as low as 15 to 25 mbs download. I contacted customer service to cancel after 2 months of subpar service and was transferred to a concerned rep who said unfortunately, he found nothing wrong with our connection but would send out a mobile team to verify the lines. I waited 3 weeks and no improvement. The next time I called to cancel they must have known I had called before and did not try to prevent me from canceling service. the lady was rude and aggressive enthusiastically informing me that Eastlink was charging me a $300 early cancellation fee. I was only with Eastlink for 3 months. Anyway, I just connected to Bell internet and I'm enjoying lightning-fast internet. Eastlink is Crap in my area. Hopefully Rogers will move in and put these false advertising thieves out of business. 21 Nov 2020: In follow-up to my post, I paid my balance and retuned my equipment. Yesterday I was called by a eastlink agent and she immediatly started demanding my information and address. I asked her why she was calling and she began to raise her voice stating it was a courtesy call. She again demanded my information. I told her if it was a courtesy call she should know who I am. I didn't give the cont the courtesy of a goodbye before I hung up. She immediatly sent an email to me stating pay $500 for the early cancellation charge and unreturned equipment and my Unpaid balance is going to a collection agency! Avoid this Eastlink. Bell's product is superior and even thought bell's customer service sucks. they don't hire Nazi conts to intimidate unhappy cutomers. read more

By far the worst company and customer service I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Lies, deceit, and shoddy inconsistent service are all you get for your money. When it works its fine however if you have need of support or customer service be prepared for BS and aggravation. I have been mislead, blatantly lied to repeatedly, and even hung up on because "we're too busy to talk to you" And actually getting the Pope, I mean a technician, out on a service call is next to impossible ... even to fix their own mistakes and botched installs. HORRIBLE is the only word to describe them. Did I mention "By far the worst company and NONcustomer service I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. read more

DISRESPECTFUL, INCOMPETENT CROOKS: i used their internet service with them because they were the only service providers in town. Every bill was paid in full and on time, pandemic or not. After a few months as another ISP came to town I cancelled my service with them. I dutifully returned their modem and after a while I received a bill for $150 for that modem! I telephoned and they confirmed that the modem had been received, that my account was $0... Yet, after a few days I received an email, from "accounts receivable", still demanding payment and the modem. As I prepared to reply to that email, I received a telephone call from Eastlink accounts receivable! When I told them my mind, that "the email and telephone calls were disrespectful", the only answer that I got was that their lists of accounts receivable are prepared in advance by "the system". No apologies. Bloody incompetent crooks! read more

I called Eastlink and Bell to inquire about Internet and Cable, I just bought my first house! The two people from Bell read the same deals of the website, were hard to understand, and didn't know their products very well. The lady I spoke to with Eastlink provided me all the information, mixed and matched things from different packages, and was able to upgrade my internet, provide basic cable, and add an additional PVR box. She combined things from 3 different packages and additionally offered to match the credit when you order online for me even though I was on the phone. Not to mention it was cheaper than bell! Very impressed with the customer service they even offered to call me back 2 hours later as I had to go for an appointment. If you're looking to quote Cable and Internet call Eastlink and talk to someone about what you want, if you want to see what Bell has go on the website the customer service sucks! Also worth noting Eastlink allows me to swap channels I want for ones I don't, no charge and I can do it on my laptop! Bell Alient has 0 customization and you "get what you get" is what I was told. read more

I hate to have to write this review, after a good solid year of Eastlink services, but this past weekend left a bad taste in my mouth. I recently moved to a different apartment (in the same building) and had a transfer of service set-up with an appointment between 8:30am and 12pm on a Saturday. I advised numerous times to make sure the tech calls ahead because I would be moving things from one apartment to the other on that day. They assured that this happens anyways. So Saturday comes and I actually have little to move as I got it done the evening before. I spent the entire timeframe at my apartment unpacking. By 12:15pm I called up Eastlink and was informed a tech was there and knocked but no answer (at 8:50am)...that was not possible, I was home, no knock, no call ahead, no buzz from the main apartment doors. I told them this was unacceptable and the rep said she would call dispatch. Call got disconnected. I called back and spoke to someone else who confirmed that dispatch cannot send someone back and we need to rebook for the following week. This is not possible due to my work schedule so I basically tried to tell them as nice as possible that this is their fault to fix it, the rep called dispatch again and they made no change in their decision. I told the rep that I would call Bell Aliant because the whole situation was ridiculous, the rep said "Okay well thanks for calling Eastlink." Anyways, I called Bell and spoke to a very nice rep who bent backwards to get me a comparable deal, and threw in a free tablet, AND was able to get a technician out within 24 hours (who was super nice btw). I called Eastlink back to cancel and I was shocked when the rep advised that she needs to send someone to pick up the equipment (with an eta of that day)...I returned the equipment myself. They are quick to send someone to pick up equipment but not to satisfy a loyal customer (I had never missed a payment or complained even though the dvr glitched a lot). It is not like we have many providers to choose from for cable/tv/internet here, and I know both Bell Aliant and Eastlink have their downfalls...but Bell Aliant won me over to their side after this experience! read more

So Eastlink wants to go digital. That's fine but they want us to pay for it and more for cable. Digital will increase the price for us by at least $20 plus tax per month. (You have to have a digital box rental for each TV plus the bundle price will increase generally). With my cell coverage, I will be paying over $200 per month for communications. This is outrageous. We can't go to regular air programming (those have been cut-off), we can't afford convertors to pull in free TV (you need more digital boxes and a digital antenna - up to $200 a set). If I can't get a bundle somewhere else for around $100. TV cable is going to go and a heavy use of downloading will occur. I will buy USB DVD players and save myself up to $75 a month. Digital was suppose to make life cheaper and easier to manage. That works in just about any sector except Cable TV apparently. What a ripoff. read more

Worst service ever had heavy packet loss which is complete loss of communication when I called in to try and resolve the issue tier 2 tech-support would not even talk to me unless it was through a tier one agent didn't even have the respect to speak with me directly then proceeded to the tell the tier one agent that they can't guarantee the bandwidth they offer even after I explained over 10% packet loss has nothing to do with bandwidth and when you're ping is fluctuating from 30 ms to 600 ms and happens at a common time of night like clockwork it's because you stack your nodes. at the stuffed prices they charge you think they could put a little into their infrastructure and stop trying to blow smoke up someone's ass that knows what they're talking about read more

We had Eastlink in Wainwright, Alberta. Our internet was constantly down and customer support would say they didn't know what was wrong - then when a tech arrives it magically starts working again before he touches anything. I felt they were trying to find something wrong with our computer rather than admitting their internet service was slow and not worth it. Not to mention they cut off our service (even though we always pay on time) and when I called in they said they didn't know why it was cut off. The cable is ok, but not worth the $52/month. It would also go down and support would say "there's no outage in your area." Helpful eh?! We called and gave them 2 months notice that we were cancelling our service, yet they billed us for November when our service ended in October...and I just got an email regarding my bill for December. I do not recommend Eastlink - we now have Telus and they are at least a step up. read more

Eastlinks Motorola DCX700 will trip all the time at the very slightest bit of thunder or lightning. When I called the Customer support, she acknowledge that Eastlinks has a bad problem with these boxes tripping all the time, requiring a service tech to reset them and causing customers loss viewing or TV time. She told me that she will book an appointment to have the Motorola DCX3400 model installed with the DVR portion deactivated because these units do not have the tripping issues. When the service tech came to my door he denied that this was true and that the other Eastlinks employee was not accurate and would not put in the box that will not inconvenience me all the time. One month ago, this same service tech and his boss would not hook up my already owned Motorola boxes brought here from my former city, telling me that they are not compatible and encouraging rental sales of other ones for my home, even though I supplied them with 8 Eastlink customer service techs with their employee numbers, who all told me that they are compatible. After fighting with the Office of the Eastlink President, who initially believed the tech and his boss in my area, and after threatening media attention to this matter, the techs came and hooked up my boxes, that do work in my home. read more

I am continuously receiving unsolicited mail from Eastlink to my home address. Eastlink has taken up the shady business practice of sending me letters addressed to "Exceptional value at:", followed by my house address. This allows them to circumvent Canada Post's junk mail policy - since the letter has my home address on it (but not my name), it gets delivered even though I am on Canada Post's no-junk-mail list. On top of that, I am visited by a salesperson at my door at least 4 times every year. After ever letter and salesperson visit, I contact Eastlink customer service to remove my address from their list. They always say they will do so, but a couple of months later it happens again. It seems there is no way to escape this aggressive unsolicited marketing. read more

My driveway has train tracks that go through it, so my situation is a little tricky, but I have service at my home so I know it is serviceable. When I ordered Eastlink services (October) I made them aware of the train tracks and they said it would be fine. The installation specialist shows up and says he can not do the installation alone and will have to set up a site survey, but they will be able to do it. I wait two weeks and call back because I hadn't heard anything. They said the site survey was good and they will send the proper crew to do the job (bucket truck, multiple people, etc.) Yet again, one installation specialist and a ladder, with absolutely no idea that train tracks were involved (no notes or warning) This happened a few more times before one of the installers called his manager to get the installation set up properly. He said it would take a week so I waited for a phone call and when I didn't get one decided to call and check in. After the customer service representative made a few calls, I was told Eastlink was lining up two third party contractors to run the lines over the train track and it will be a couple of days before they have it scheduled. Over a week later my deposit is returned to me without a phone call to say why, so I called Eastlink to get and update and I was been told the job wouldn't be getting done so they returned my money. So after almost 5 months of being told I would be getting service from Eastlink, spending countless hours on the phone and having my hopes up, Eastlink is refusing to put together a plan to cross one set of train tracks. Bell Aliant has run service to my home, why cant Eastlink? read more

I tried to set up Outlook 2016 this morning with the instructions an Eastlink tech gave me. It came back with an error message that said in part that there was a problem with the e-mail server and that I should contact my ISP (Eastlink). I contacted their tech support and couldn't understand the tech support person. I called back and got the same person. I called back and got a guy who said that it was a problem with either Outlook or the server (mail.eastlink.ca) which he said was a Microsoft computer. I asked to speak to a supervisor who basically said it wasn't their problem and that I could pay a fee for assistance if I wanted to. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she refused saying that the only Eastlink people who would be interested in speaking to me were other people at her level. I complained to someone at their management number and am awaiting a response. I have been an Eastlink customer for seven years and the service I've received has been incompetent, occasionally rude (at their Micmac store), and infuriating and disgusting. read more

The worst service possible. If I can give them minus star, I would have. Endless problems since i joined then. When we requested to have their connections (bundle service), It was a transfer from another service provider. It took them over 1 month to tranfer the phone number claiming that due to an error, we will have to settle for a new number. They have forgotten to forward the request to maintain the same number. Anyway, with endless negotiations and a month with no phone line, we got the service. Now, (less than a year from the above fiasco) and since I knew I am shifting houses, I logged in a request to move the service around August 15 and booked August 25 for the move. On the cursed date, I receive a note from east link that they can't provide the service because of a wiring issue. I got stuck between the developer and the great service of east link. It puzzles me that eastlink technical service did not realize that the area has a wiring issue. Maybe it was only our house that has the wiring proble. Of course I was not informed in advance. How come I was the first home owner with such a problem when the whole area has houses with connections? I have no clue. It is now August 31st, I still have no service, and I was just informed that I will not be connected to the outside world till Sept 6. And the customer service asks me "Can't you use your cell phone?" I and two boys will be stuck over a long weekend with a cell phone that , to use, I have to go to outside home due to bad reception with expected hurricane. Thank you Eastlink. read more

Poor Customer Service. Just hunk up from Eastlink and my level of frustration was high enough to take the time to write this. First, Brand confusion. Their website content is written as "Eastlink" but workers answer their phone as "Delta'. For customers who do not follow their business deals, it was confusing to me and my first thought is that a different company hacked into their customer service link. Second, I requested that my $100 deposit charged to my credit card be reversed and added to the billing invoice, which was required for ordering a technician cable hook up. If this is not their policy, I asked if they could share my feedback and payment preference in planning meetings to give customers this option, as this is done in other sectors (hotels, car rentals, flights) for customers. The worker did not seem receptive to my request to share my feedback with his company or unaware that customer feedback can be helpful to companies. In my view great customer service is based on listening to customer feedback to deliver better service, value and better products. read more

Tried to call about an increase in bill price. Stuck on the phone for 45 minutes. Tried to contact them by using their live chat. I was able to get in contact with a costumer service rep in a matter of minutes. Turns out it was just a rate increase. Hopefully it won't go up by another $15 next year. If it does though I may consider stopping my service with them and switching to another better cheaper service. read more

I've been with Eastlink watch, talk and surf for longer than I can remember. This month when my bill arrived I noticed an increase of $9 (before taxes). That threw me for a loop, I just got a price increase of $6 in June. An increase of $15/m in six months is outrageous. I called the billing department and the young lady who answered was excellent; I was ready to have an argument but she was on the ball. She confidently answered all of my questions and provided great customer service (3 stars). However, the price increase is nuts and after shopping around I will likely cut the cable and move to an internet TV service. read more

In my five years with Eastlink, my bill has almost doubled. If I were to average it out, my bill has gone up by six dollars per year. That's unacceptable! If you have any other providers in your area use them. Eastlink are without doubt the worst company I have ever dealt with. Believe me you will regret using them. Tv and Telephone are fine, but I play alot of games, and for games eastlink is shit. Their ping is all over the place one day it's fine, an hour later it's garbage. I've spent probably 8 hours over the past 6 monthes on the phone with them trying to figure out the problem, they have even sent a tech and changed all boxes / connections on both house and the pole outside to no avail. The other day i decided to go to my friends house who had just got aliant, ran ping test and it was under half my best ping test on eastlink. So gg eastlink you fail, as for customer service both are equally bad, I've worked for bell and their training they give agents is a joke, they make you do 30 step procedures, that include 4 different programs once on the computer while following along, then tell you to go do it lol read more

I've had Eastlink for the entire 11 years I have lived in Nova Scotia, and have always been delighted with their customer service reps on the phone, and can't complain about the quality of my actual internet service either. I was inspired to write this review as we moved into a 230 year-old farm house in Chester Basin in February and had really excellent service from one of their installers by the name of Colin. Truth be told, we did have one other installer out before Colin, but he wouldn't install our cable until we cut down a tree in the front yard. The landscaping was one of the things we loved most about this house and we didn't want to have to cut down the tree. Colin was good enough to wedge his ladder in between a number of trees, and where he couldn't use a ladder, he donned his spikes, climbed up the pole and had us up and running with internet in no time. Thank you Colin, for going above and beyond the call of duty, and creating one very happy Eastlink Customer. This is the absolute worst internet provider I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing in my life. Eastlink is awesome. If you like overpaying for Internet that works 3/4 of the time. You also get 1/2 the advertised speed sometimes, which is great if you want to watch a movie on Netflix before you go to bed. It'll buffer for 15 minutes, then you'll get half way through it and it will stop working all together. The wireless internet is also a steal of a deal at only 2 dollars extra a month. And after you restart the modem for the fourth time, it works good for 25 minutes. All in all, i'd recommend eastlink to anyone that likes throwing 90 dollars off a bridge every month. Because that's what it feels like I am doing. And btw, I'm wrighting this using my phone data, because no one in my neighbourhood that has eastlink has internet at the moment. My third appoint I received a call saying it was cancelled because two technicians were not available. My fourth appoint once again I received no call, and no technician had planned on showing up. We have had Eastlink Cable outside of Ottawa for the past few years. On Christmas Eve of last year (2013) the cable down our street went out, and to repair it, the worker attempted to string up a cable from one cable box across the street from our house, through the trees, over the street, and then laid it down several lawns (including ours) to connect it to the box that was having trouble a few houses down. When we phoned Eastlink, they told us that they were unable to bury the cable since the ground was frozen and that they would do it first thing in the spring. After repeated phone calls to them throughout the spring and summer, we were finally told that they would definitely bury the cable by the end of October. Also they only come "to our area" on Tuesdays, so if you have any kind of issue you need to wait until the following Tuesday for anyone to come and fix it. We phoned again on Monday of this week saying that it was now past the end of October, and the cable was still on our lawn. We were promised that someone would be out to bury it the following day. No one ever showed up and when we phoned last night we were told that the company who they contract out to do this type of work is done for the season and won't be able to do it until at least the end of March. Their customer service is terrible and simply unacceptable, but living in the area we do we have few choices when it comes to cable service providers. They also recently took away the "channel guide" feature, so if we want to have any idea of what is on television, we need to check the internet instead. This is absolutely ridiculous, and when you phone them no one seems to care, or to take your concerns seriously. read more
