Why why why do I listen to other yelpers? I never find reviews to be accurate and they sure weren't accurate for here. Now, the woman who was the only waitress was super nice. The service was really slow though and we came after rush hour. I usually judge breakfast by its home fries and sadly, I couldn't even describe the white little squares of potato. Sometimes resto are lazy and just fry them which gives a bit of flavor, but these ones were just flavorless. I was so sad. You can't really mess up eggs or sausage patties so those were fine.....but the saving grace were the crepes. 5 soft and delicious crepes upped the score! The prices were so strange too. Eggs benny $6.95 but a mexican omelet will cost you $10? Omelet prices were just all over the place, but they did have some decent specials which is what I got and was overall happy with, except the potatoes. 2 stars for the hard working woman and they yummy crepes! 3rd time here in 3 years. 1st time it was good, but service slow. 2nd time we sat at the bar, food and service good. 3rd time, we walked in, the only waitress there looked at us and walked by saying nothing so we waited to be seated she did not return for a while so we sat our selves. She then went to the table next to us, that were already seated 2 times within 5-8 minutes and both times completely ignored us, so 15 minutes later we left after the guy that came in 10 minutes after us sat at the bar and got a drink within a minute. Obviously this is a locals only place! Sad thing we just bought a place up her. Only reason I even give it 3 star is because time prior we sat at the bar and the women that runs it was so nice and a hard worker. Waitress was there at that time as well and just miserable then too. So if you go sit at the bar only. **Updating my review for this place. We have been back 2 more times, it's a litte slow at times but the food is very good and Michelle is very friendly and personable. Dang this was good! Perfect way to start a day of exploration. The Western Omelette was gigantic, the potato fries perfect. We sat at the counter and could smell all the dishes coming out, It almost made me order the French Toast. The service was great, we met the owner and she was extremely hospitable. Lunch is very reduces in variety and quality, maybe due to COVID. In any case, poor help and poor food preparation are serious issues at this time. We decided we will not return for lunch anymore. We found the chicken fingers dry and tasteless. I had the Reuben and it was barely edible, with stringy stuck together poor quality meat, the wrong bread type and tasteless dressing. The service was friendly, but the food was served too quickly, and we noticed, not well prepared. The hot tea was tepid. We asked for hot refills and were served tepid water once again. One good thing was the chocolate/coconut snowballs. Though pricey, they were good. read more

On October 27 I stopped at this establishment - (it was a former train station on the east side of Berlin NH)based upon the number of local cars parked in front. Huge disappointment! Seated myself after being ignored by staff, then waited another ten minutes for the waiters attention while I battled pesky houseflies. Finally ordered coffee and a menu to be served what tasted like brown water. They must have run water through the grounds two or more times! When I finally got to order the sausage gravy and biscuit was served on a saucer sized plate. Home fries appeared to be the frozen cubes dumped in a deep fryer. Poached eggs were mediocre and everything was like warm. Never was checked back with and had to walk to the counter to check out only to be ignored for a good five minutes as the locals at the counter joked with the elderly waiter about how slow he was... My husband, son and I were visiting the area for a couple days. We got there about 9:45 for breakfast. My son had a job interview at 11:00 and it was about 15 minutes away so we figured we had enough time. We sat outside and it took about 10 minutes before the waitress came and took our drink order. We ordered food at the same time. Another couple sat down after us and they got their coffees before we did. We waited about another 20 minutes. The other couple got their food and the waitress said ours would be right out. It was 10:30 when I went inside to see if we were going to get our food. I explained to another waitress that we had to be somewhere soon and that people who came in after us had gotten their food already. Another 5 minutes goes by and finally our waitress tells me that the kitchen had been cooking an order for a large party (5 people who were there before we were) and that my husbands omelet was done but was still waiting for my French toast and my son's scrambled eggs and bacon. Again I said we had to be somewhere in 20 minutes and to cancel the order because we were leaving. We got up and started to the car when she came running out with our food. I said it was too late. She asked if we wanted her to box it up to go but we weren't going to wait for another 30 minutes for her to do it. We left and never paid for our coffees. Will never go back there again. read more

went here for breakfast before heading home to Maine. The outside is an old depot station, and at first glance it doesn't look like much, especially for an eating establishment. When you enter, it is quite quaint and clean inside. This is the kind of setting that feels relaxed and comfy. The staff were friendly and greeted us right away. The food was amazingly good! Homemade items and the presentation is very appealing! Nice to see scrambled eggs look like fresh eggs just cracked and cooked, not powdered! This restaurant makes do with less than fine cratsmanship in utilizing an old railroad depot. The effort was adequate for the purpose but that's about all. The offerings are many and varied on a lunch and dinner menu. Mooseburgers come with a special sauce. We didn't bring any scrapers to remove the secret sauce so we may never learn how bad mooseburgers are. Can't say we want to eat a moose much more than we want to run a car into one. We had the best experience from this hidden treasure. We found it online when looking for a place to dine when on vacation. We called to make reservations for the 6 of us. Tina was so great on the phone and then when we arrived Tina was our waitress, she is one of the friendliest and nicest waitresses I have ever had. Our whole experience was GREAT! The best homemade biscuits served with honey butter came first "yum"! There was 6 of us so we got to see a variety of foods...prime rib special with homemade garlic mashed and roasted squash, chicken with a Brie apple stuffing, fried fish dinner with homemade fries, a sirloin dinner with homemade coleslaw, and a build your own burger meal. Everything was excellent! We asked about seeing a breakfast menu and Tina sent us off with 2 to take back to our hotel. We will be there Sunday morning before our trip back to Maine. This is a sad place. On week days it's acceptable fare, I guess. The place is completely outdated. It's a true injustice to the buildings character and history. Lots of potential, it seems the owners must have cashed out. Breakfast is very easy food to produce well. Nothing is farm fresh, everything just feels cheap and bottom of the barrel. Today we went in during the ATV festival (which doubles the local population, it was pretty much empty, despite being right off the ATV route. Our food arrived cold. I asked for a grilled muffin that came out cold and ungrilled. My friend had a huge hair in her corned beef hash. My other friend complained that his food was cold and they brought it back "nuked", stating they "hoped that would be alright". The seats are indented from their age and the pads constantly fall off the benches. The springed back door slams every few minutes as people come and go with a bang. It's done this for years and nothings ever been done to address it. They supposedly serve breakfast and lunch, yet they locked the doors at 11am today.....On a Saturday which is a brunch day. Just very pathetic. My friends had tried to talk us into going elsewhere, but it's location is ideal so we made the mistake of going. I was so embarrassed to have recommended the place to my friends. We ended up walking out and driving 30 minutes to the Water Wheel which has reliably excellent fare. What a joke......it's like they hate money. read more

I went here for lunch with a friend. We didn't realize that they close at like 1, and we came within five minutes of closing, but they were super gracious and told us not to worry about it. I had to adjust my expectations--when I think of restraints in train stations I think more upscale, but Eastern Depot is a very simple, basic diner. I had a club sandwich and my friend had a breakfast platter. Both were delicious. The eggs and the bacon weren't overcooked at all like they can be in diners. The servers literally could not have been more nice during the whole visit and gave us a lot of great information about the area. This place is never going to get a Michelin star, but it's perfect for what it is. Things to keep in mind--The soda is served in cans with a mason jar, so no refills. I had high hopes for this place but I have to say I was sorely disappointed. The staff was friendly, sure, and it had folksy atmosphere which was welcomed after coming out of the woods from camping. But the service was SLOW and after the long wait my pancakes came out undercooked. I'm not a picky eater but these were still battery in the middle which was just unappealing. The bacon was what I call "institutional" bacon like what you'll get in a hospital or what we got in the army, thin and off-flavored. The homefries were deep fried frozen potato bits, not fresh cooked on the flat top like I expected. The eggs were okay but dense and not at all fluffy. Expensive too. $13.50 for a "big breakfast" and with coffee, about $16. Fine. I left an even $20 on the check, paid by credit card, which I thought was more than generous for a tip.
