I felt the receptionist understood the urgency and helped me get in the same day. Once I got to the office Sheri was so kind while completing the imaging and explained the process. This was my first root canal so I was extremely nervous on top of being extremely overwhelmed and anxious. Dr. Chan was AMAZING! He was so kind and understanding. He gently explained every step of the process and ensured I was ok with each step. On top of that, Dr. Chan called me personally the next day to check on me! I hope I never need another root canal, but if I do, Asrari endodontics is my first call!

One small suggestion I would have preferred high level updates of where we are during root canal. However Dr Slykhous did a good job explaining afterwards and even showed me the updated x-ray which was nice. They place a temporary sealant which doesn't feel secure but seemed to be standard and they said can last up to 3 weeks. I'm satisfied with the work however the pricing is on the expensive side even with insurance so the value doesn't match the cost. Also they charge for an evaluation. Hopefully I won't need their services again as the cost would likely prevent me from returning.

I highly recommend Dr. Walker at Endodontic Specialists. I was directed to Dr. Walker by my dentist…read morewhen he determined that I needed root canals. It was obvious from my first meeting with Dr. Walker that he is very knowledgeable, explains the procedures thoroughly and why he determines they are necessary. He also does a CT scan before the procedure so he can see exactly what's going on with the affected area, preventing a lot of unnecessary probing during the actual procedure. He even found cavities in the crown area that were not visible with x-ray. With regard to the root canal procedure itself, seriously, I've had more pain and discomfort from a dental cleaning than I had with those two root canals. Painless. The numbing procedure was done exactly where the work was going to be done so I didn't go home with "rubber jaw" I was given an itemized invoice of exact costs at the first exam. It was more than reasonable when compared to current area costs. There is also a finance plan available. An added plus - the assistants and office staff are efficient and welcoming. It appears to me that they like being there which isn't always the case in dental and medical offices.

I actually had called and wanted to go to the Mesa location, but this location had same day…read moreavailability so that was why I ended up here. I found it by researching online on who did gentlewave and who had good recent reviews. Location was easy to find. There's parking available. Walked in and was slightly confused as there are two doctor offices with doors. Go to the one on the right. Checked in at my appointment time and the lady asked me to fill out some paperwork on the tablet and asked if it was my first time and asked for a photo ID and insurance info and confirmed my estimated cost. Form was easy to fill-out except the screen protector made it a little difficult to tap, but it worked. Finished and gave tablet back and asked to use the restroom, which is to the left of the receptionist. Fully stocked toilet paper and paper towels--as in a little hard to pull to use, but better that than not having any lol. They have little cups and a dispenser for mouth wash. Sat back in reception area and was called to the back. She took some Xrays and they were able to use the 3D X-rays I had done at another doctor's office so that saved me some money, but note, this place was about half the cost for the same X-ray so I wish i had done that here! Gave my referral form for that other office and she was curious why I decided not to go there and I just said I wasn't comfortable at the other place and decided to go here. She was really nice and calm. Dr. Mortenson was my doctor. I needed a root canal and it's my first one ever. He did an initial consultation and then gave me options to do the procedure and I was like yep, thats what I'm here for. He did end up doing gentlewave on me since he had to go in pretty deep. I told him in the past, doctors had to use extra numbing on me so he gave me three shots and I didn't feel a thing other than the pinch of the needles and then pressure when applying the temporary filling. Otherwise, I felt NO pain. I've heard such horror stories about root canals that I was really prepared for pain, but nope. Didn't hurt during, after, or here I am 24 hours later. Unbelievable!!! I thought it was pretty cool how you could literally watch the work being done cuz there's like a reflective mirror so I could see him opening a hole, drilling, filling it with stuff, covering, etc. He was polite, calm, cool, and collected. Mostly explained what he was doing as he was doing it. Asked me before and after if I had any questions/if he answered all my questions. Told ME I did a great job after lol. He was really good, precise, and gentle. Very matter of fact. Gave me pain medications to pickup at my local pharmacy. If I had to get a root canal again, I would go to Dr. Mortensen again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others:)

They had the latest in equipment. I started off with a CT scan to get a 3D image of my teeth along with digital x-rays of my teeth. Dr. Kerr was fast and efficient. Before I knew it it was all over. The only pain I felt was the initial injections of lidocaine before my mouth went numb. The office staff was nice and friendly. We ended up talking about foreign travel and how one of their friends caught the last plane back to America before the pandemic restricted all flights. My dentist referred me here after they weren't able to find any nerve issues, gum issues, cracked teeth, root canals, etc. After some X-rays and tests (the same tests my dentist did) were done, they couldn't find anything as well. With the amount of pain I was in, I asked if they had any recommendations for pain management as cycling Tylenol and ibuprofen was doing nothing. The joke of a person who calls himself a professional, Hamberlin, told me "I could recommend a psychiatrist". I paid this place to have one of their professionals basically tell me it was all in my head. 5 weeks later, pain is still there, and now my tooth is loose. We moved to Scottsdale about six or seven years ago. My wife did a ton of research before picking a…read moredentist and she chose S&L with Dr. David Ngo. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

I chose this dentist because of all the amazing reviews, and so I thought I'd detail my experience…read morebecause it wasn't as perfect as the reviews make it seem. They seem very knowledgable and seem to know what they're doing when it comes to dentistry, but my concerns are more in the administration side of things. I changed jobs earlier this year and got new insurance with a common major insurance provider, and I needed to get a procedure done. I asked them what the procedure would cost and they gave me a quote, which was already expensive, and I paid that at the time of service. However, when I came in for a routine cleaning 6 months later, they said the insurance "didn't pay as much as they thought" and stuck me with MORE THAN DOUBLE their original quote. I looked into the insurance claim and called the insurance company myself, and the insurance company paid exactly what was according to their billing schedule. There were no surprises. I think the office knew (or should have known, because they're the professionals and this is what they do) that this would happen, and they dishonestly gave me a lower quote, did the service, and then stuck me with the even more expensive bill (but to their credit, they did give me a lower price than what they billed to insurance, but it was still VERY expensive that I was not prepared for). Additionally, I distinctly recall the procedure treated four teeth, but then on the bill and insurance claim, they say they treated six. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to argue this, especially because it happened so long ago. I suspect they didn't contact me about this issue earlier for this exact reason. Again, dishonest. Another concern with this dentist is that it's unprofessional that they use Zelle to get around credit/debit card transaction fees. Every merchant has to deal with card transaction fees, they shouldn't be up-charging that cost and they shouldn't be using Zelle, which is supposed to just be a peer-to-peer payment network. Lastly, as much as I love dogs, I don't think it's hygienic that they keep a dog in their office. In all, I started off loving this dentist, and very disappointed that they turned out to be this unprofessional and dishonest. I'm sad I'll have to go elsewhere from now on.

Later, the story changed and I began receiving bills for hundreds more, bringing the "exam" total to over $400. On top of that, the focus of the appointment was on accessing and disturbing existing crown work without offering a clear solution or path forward. The billing was not transparent, the explanations kept shifting, and I was left feeling harassed for money after already paying. Patients deserve honest care and clear communication, not surprise bills and questionable treatment recommendations.
