Before the Longhorn an Aggie game the wife and I stopped by to grab some pizza. A customer was outside and said there was delicious food was over there at the window. The pizza shop is a walk up. I did not see a dining room. There were picnic tables in front of the window. The gentleman at the window let us know of a buy one slice get one free. They were for pepperoni, sausage, and vegetables. No substitutions. We had the pepperoni special. If you love thin and I mean thin crust pizza this is the spot for you. The crust was crazy thin. Only thing is there was really no taste to the crust. It being so thin at the edges tasted burnt. The tomato sauce was on point. It was not overly acidic. And just enough not to make that thin crust soggy. The cheese was ok. Nothing too special. Pepperonis were another outstanding part of the pie. I hope you all enjoy. read more

When my name was called, I was handed two boxes. I thanked the staff and left, assuming each box had two slices like the customer before me. But when I got back to my gate, I realized I'd only received two slices total... half my order. I walked all the way back to explain and show my receipt. Instead of apologizing, the staff became defensive. One worker claimed I wasn't there when the rest of my order was called, even though I was handed the boxes directly. I calmly tried to explain the confusion, but was met with dismissiveness and zero accountability. No apology, no offer to correct the mistake. The pizza I did receive was cold by then and honestly not worth the hassle. Customer service matters, especially in an airport setting. I LOVE east side pies-- it's the closest thing I've gotten to authentic pizza here in Austin, however, I want to shout out "Makayla" for her awesome customer service today. I made a Uber order for a few items (which I've never done before because I live down the street) and one of the strambolis I ordered came with only half! I tried to report it to Uber and they did nothing. When I called the store directly, Makayla was very attentive and did her best to contact Uber to give me a refund (which they did not) however she still made an effort to make sure I was credited by the store personally. This was ordered through a third-party app and the process was smooth and efficient as the food came promptly. There were lots of different pizzas to choose from with a lot of creativity it seemed like too. I had the Marge (18'' for $28.80) and the Lu' (18'' for $29.25). The Marge was just a margherita pizza. It was of the thin crust variety and held up nicely. There was a light amount of sauce, but a nice balance with the cherry tomatoes and mozzarella. I was very surprised how good the crust was though. The Lu' consisted of bacon, pineapple, ham, and jalapenos, essentially a Hawaiian pizza. Again, it was a thin crust that was very tasty. I enjoyed the balance of the pineapple and jalapenos. We ordered one 10" specialty pie and it was $16! We ordered the Nicola, that has meatballs, red onions, jalapeños, red bell peppers, and Gorgonzola cheese. It was a great combination of flavors that I have never tried before, but would defiantly order again. They have a lot of choices and can even create your own pie. They have started offering beers for the low price of $4 from Austin Beerworks which is super cool. We were the only walk-up customers around 9pm, but there were a few to-go orders people picked up. As an Uber Eats driver working away for hours on end, constantly dashing all over the city picking up and delivering orders, I rely on using the restrooms at the restaurants where I stop--it's just basic human decency after being on the road all day with no other options. Every single place I've ever picked up from has allowed this without issue... until I showed up at Eastside Pies. This rude female employee flat-out denied me access, coldly informing me that their restrooms "aren't public" and sneering that if I needed to go so badly, I should "go elsewhere." We had planned on each ordering a slice of pizza, but when we got there around 9pm or so on a weeknight the slices of pizza looked real tired, sad and plain. I wasn't going to eat any of those. So as a group of three, we switched our game plan and ordered a whole pie. Wait time was about 15-20 minutes. We had a 5 minute walk to our Airbnb. By the time we got home the pizza crust was soggy and limp. I appreciated the fresh veggies and how light (not greasy) the pie tasted. Passed this location for a few years now, made the trip from S Austin for a few slices. 15/20 min in to waiting for 3 slices hostess/cashier has some personal visitors. Spends several minutes chatting, hands them food immediately. Comes back out to shoot the ish w them for several more minutes. Walking into this "food truck" will make you think twice about whether you're in Austin or New York City. When you enter the tiny restaurant, you're greeted with huge slices of pizza behind a glass case, one smiling cashier, and a couple of take out boxes and water cups. Each slice was around $3.75 and pretty large - not enough to fill you up but satisfying if you're craving a pizza slice. This shop definitely does Pizza the NY way - Big and thin. I ordered a slice of Italian sausage with cheese. They pop the slice in the oven for you for extra crispiness. The sauce and cheese were tasty and the crust was just right, but the sausage could have used a little more flavor (surprising since Italian sausage is generally packed with flavor.) The fiancé got the red sauce veggie pizza and it was quite good! There were Roma tomatoes, kale and beets on the pizza. It was different but flavorful. My only complaint was that the veggie slice's crust was burnt. We ended up not completely finishing the crust since it was too bitter with the burnt-ness. Overall, there are definitely better pizza places but if you're craving some good slices on the go, come here and pick out a slice with a non-burnt crust. read more

Maybe it would have been better if they actually put enough tomato sauce on it like I asked.
